  1. cant....handle....cuteness.....must....resist....urge......hold...HOLD.... *explodes* bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! ITS SO CUTE IMA DIE! on a more calm note, you did some goo work here! its not spot on but i dont get the feeling you were trying to go for a standard mlp look. either way excellent work.

You're right, I'm trying to pull away from the standard mlp look. I already more or less know how to do show-accurate vector art, so right now I'm trying to see if I can work out a style of my own :)

    Hello!

Great drawing! You sure are improoving quickly! :)

My tip would be to work on the snout and legs/hooves. These parts give the most effect to the pony, and it's crucial to master them.

    Good luck!

    Thanks, I will :)

Haha, awww they're so adorable together :D. I think you did a really wonderful job. They look so peaceful and loving together, its a fitting thing to see with valentines nearing.

    Great job :).

Yeah, with all the hype about V day, sometimes we forget about the person who loves us the most :3

Pressing ctrl+D deselects everything. If you have any other questions about SAI just ask away! I'm in no way an expert on SAI but I've been using it enough to know some tips

I'll be sure to PM you when I've questions ^_^

  2. Very good drawing! It appears you aren't using minimum line thickness. Under brush/pen size there should be a slider for Min Size. Set that to zero and draw to see if you like it. I happen to use it but I know a few artists don't. Also, when drawing in a specific area or shading use the magic wand to select that particular area. Make sure to set it to target all image though.

Oh! Turns out my minimum line thickness was set at 40%, no wonder the pen felt too sensitive. Also, once I select stuff with the magic wand and the purple overlay appears, how do i deselect it without having to use the deselect tool and coloring over it?

  3. im confused, ive noticed this, but ive never seen rainbow dash's dad, could somepony show me the episode/source where her dad appeared?

    oops ninja'ed :x

Her dad appeared in the latest episode (S3E12) "Games Ponies Play" during a flashback RD had when she was a filly and Cloudsdale was in the running to host the Equestrian Games.

  4. Both Cadence and Shining Armor haven't had enough opportunities to show whatever flaws that they might have. I don't really like either of them either because they were more or less just 'parachuted' in to the end of S2, which seemed too convenient for the writers imo. There's definitely room for character development and with the 26 eps in S4 I really hope that they take some time to do so, or otherwise just relegate them to minor roles. Right now with all the "oh crystal empire this, crystal empire that", Cadence and SA have been popping around all over the place with no real explanation of how exactly they're related to the whole mess. And if Cadence has not enough screen time, SA has even less. He's just 'the brother that shows up and then leaves after'.

  5. I'm continuing to practice in SAI in line with my experiments into raster art and have done (yet) another piece based on the fanfic that I read called "Colors of the Heart".

Before you start going "Hey what happened to her eye did you go crazy with the brush or something", well here's the context: Prism (the filly) has gotten bullied in school! But Mother is always there for her little angel :3

As always comments are welcome (i know it's far from perfect   )

  6. Personally I have neutral feelings towards Trixie. At the worst she's just misguided and I don't believe that she's truly evil at heart, that was just the Alicorn Amulet at work. She might be mean, yes, but I'm sure all of us have been mean at some point of our life or another.

*Waits for Firebolt to arrive and unleash her wrath on Trixie naysayers  *

  7. Despite the art being basic looking, I would say it looks nice. And the weird thing is, Why is her cutie mark a paintbrush and a palette? Her name is Prism, so therefore her cutie mark should be a prism!

Haha it's part of the fanfic story "Colors of the Heart" on FIMFiction. Her talent is in drawing, that's why her CM is a paintbrush and a palette. She's called Prism because her magic aura is rainbow in color even though she's an albino pony :)

  8. As title says. The reason I'm wondering this is because, my profile is pretty long. And, seeing as it is so long, I do want people to read it.

So, my question is; Does anyone actually read profiles? Silly question? Of course.

    Kthxbye.

Oh I wouldn't be worried about people reading my profile if I were you :P Also, whocares if it's long, I just go to your profile to look at the pictures

  9. Well, my big reason for wanting to go with a tablet is because I really can't do drawing of any kind with a mouse, I've tried perhaps I just need practice, but I figured a tablet would be easier.

Well the mouse, like the tablet, is just a tool. Yes no doubt the mouse is more difficult to control than the tablet, but if you're having trouble with using a mouse to draw, chances are a tablet won't help much. What's important is practicing enough to get the 'muscle memory' so to speak. I would suggest sticking with the mouse for a while and practicing with that. Your mouse drawing doesn't need to be perfect, but as long as it looks presentable enough (proportions are generally correct, lines are clean, etc), only then might you consider moving on to a tablet. It makes the learning curve much much easier.

BTW that tablet is great. You can't go wrong with a Wacom Bamboo :P

  10. I'm continuing my experiments in SAI, but the author of the fanfic that I drew this fanart for liked it so much he requested a vector of his albino OC ('Prism') too, so I did  ^_^  It's nothing great, but I haven't posted anything recently, so why not

  11. Starting out with a tablet you say? Get a Wacom Bamboo, they come cheap and get the job done. They've recently refreshed the product line with some new names and such, but the Bamboo Pen I got last year was the best hundred dollars I've spent so in a long while. (And the tablet area is really not that bad, it's small but definitely adequate enough for drawing)

Have you tried drawing with a mouse though? Don't underestimate the mouse, I started off with my mouse and I can safely say that while a tablet is something that is nice to have, it is not a necessity for you to generate results, all it does is just make life slightly easier once you're used to it. You don't have to master it, but it definitely helps if you can adapt to either. You will be surprised at how much control you can get with a well-calibrated mouse with a decent-dpi, nearly all gaming mice meet the mark.

As far as drawing programs are concerned, if you're using a tablet, you'll definitely want to take a look at Paint Tool SAI and Photoshop. Both are paid programs. Otherwise if you're looking for free, then you'll have to settle with GIMP or some other alternative. Of course, if you're thinking of going into vector art then that's a different ball game, for that you'll be looking at Illustrator as a paid option and Inkscape as a free one. Take the time to experiment and choose your starting path  ;)

  12. Coffee is my favourite beverage at any time of the day (except night time, for obvious reasons). I'm rather standard though, I get my supply of caffeine from a jar of coffee powder in the kitchen. As a rule of thumb, I'll drink it hot in the morning, and iced in the afternoon. Gets me through the day without having to nod off and waste precious daylight! :3 (Oh hear me I sound like a friggin coffee ad right now  )

  13. I could do more to improve living standards but I don't need to be an elected official to do it and people tend to have unrealistic expectation of elected officials while I'm revered because I'm the guy that did everything for the good of the community without getting an official title or payment.

Indonesia's government is too corrupt to pass legislation fast enough anyway let alone enforce it effectively. Not surprising that there's no trust whatsoever in the bureaucracy.
