[Syannax the Changeling 101]

While they where walking to the hospital, the Doctor pondered and brainstormmed ways to contact his companions. He realizes that there is a way to communicate with them in the TARDIS but, it must wait until after the exam and clearance from the doctor. While they reached the hospital, he allows Derpy to admit him in for an exam, not sure of the customs for these lands.

 

"I am not sure" He blinked in confusion too. Then they just wait for Nurse Readheart to be ready for me. "I guess I am Doctor Whooves now" he chuckles to himself thinking of the pun in the last name.

Derpy shrugged. "I like it. It sounds right," she replied, "I guess we just wait now." She led him over to the waiting area for the time being, climbing up onto one of the couches seated against the wall while waiting for him to join. Once he did, Derpy looked to the Doctor. "So, where are you from anyway Doctor?" she asked, "Your accent suggests Trottingham, but I get the feeling there's more to it than that."

He joined her, confused alittle about how to sit. He is use to sitting like a timelord/human, he sat that way over to the side, forcing him do what Derpy did. "How do you even sit correctly?" He shifted to where he balanced himself to not fall over, and hopping he doesn't fall over onto his face. He got the right idea after a moment or two then he turned and replied. "I don't remember much Derpy" He told her, and would prefur to keep it like that. "I am just having a hard time remembering right now. Maybe when i remember it, then I will tell you. Alright?" He shifted alittle to get confertable, and use to sitting like that.

"Maybe it I hit you hard over the head again you'll remember," she suggested, Derpy grinned at the expression the Doctor gave her afterwards, snorting in laughter. "Oh Doctor, lighten up; I'd never willingly hurt another pony. That's a terrible thing to do." Why would she ever want to actually bring harm to another pony? it was just wrong.

He chuckled at Derpy's joke "Just might bring back my memmory eh?" He felt confertable, being around Derpy. Even though they had met today. Derpy could be funny every so often. He considered the option but has put it to the side for the time being. He looked around at the door being patiant for the doctor to come around

She laughed at his added joke. "Maybe. If you plan on trying it out though I'm not going to be involved in any injuries you get," she replied.

 

Soon a white earth pony nurse with a light pink mane pulled back in a bun came out, bearing nurse's cap on her head. The symbol on it, a red cross with four little pink hearts on the inside corners of the cross, was the same as her cutie mark. She held a clip board clasped in the crook of her elbow with her hoof wrapped around it. "Doctor Whooves?" she read from it, looking up.

 

Derpy looked to the stallion sitting a bit awkwardly beside her. "Want me to come in with you?" she asked. She was fine with sitting out here and waiting as well. It was up to him. It's just that he didn't know know anypony here, and she just wanted the Doctor to be comfortable. Not everypony liked to be alone during a check-up, as he was likely to get one of those along with x-rays.

"Comming, comming. Oh and... Umm. Sure, i see no harm in you coming with Derpy" he told her in response. He stood up and walked over to Nurse Redheart. He is still slowly learnning what he could do in his new form. "So, where to Doc?" He asked Nurse Redheart as he stepped up to her.

Derpy nodded in response, following after the stallion toward the nurse as the Doctor asked where too. "Follow me please," Nurse Redheart requested, leading the two to an examination room. There was a table there for the Doctor to climb up on while the earth mare pulled out a stethoscope and various other things for a check-up.

 

Derrpy sat in the waiting chair while the nurse held up the clipboard, holding a pencil in the side of her mouth. "Alright, have you been experiencing any recent irritability? Memory problems? Dizziness or drowsiness? Balance problems? Nausea? Unusual headaches?" she asked, reading for a list of symptoms of concussions that she would check off as he answered.

"Well" he does his best to lie without showing that he did "i have been experincing some memory problems. Can hardly remember much before... something happened. When i woke up earlier, i had a time balancing, and also when i sat on the couch in the waiting room i had a little problem too. A slight headache but it doesn't hurt at all" He told Nures Redheart mixing alot of truth with some lies.

Nurse Redheart checked off some boxes and scrawled some things down on her clipboard before setting it aside for the moment. "Alright, now to check your vitals to make sure they're normal." She pulled out a lighted magnifier so she could check his eyes and ears. "Good, good. Eyes are responding well,' she observed, "No blood or any sort of obstruction in the ears." She pulled out a blood pressure wrap to velcro around his front hood above the elbow. The nurse stepped on a foot pad on the floor to make air fill it, watching the numbers on the gauge slowly dropping before releasing it and taking the pressure off his leg. "Blood pressure looks good." She wrote the numbers down and pulled the blood pressure monitor off him. The nurse pulled the stethoscope from around her neck and began to put it in her ears. "Now to check your breathing and heart rate."

(So you know, i use the ' ' for thoughts, not speaking out loud, i use " for that)

 

His ears peaked up when she said something about his heart rate. 'Must act normal.... must act normal...' He smiled and lets her do as needed to clear him. He then remembered if he is going to be discovered with two hearts, they might run tests and possibly disect him. He resumes acting like anypony else during a check up, he will just have to explain why he has two hearts to Derpy and Nurse Redheart.

(Just so you know, I have no idea how check-ups for a possible concussion go.)

 

Nurse Redheart pressed the cold stethoscope against the Doctor's bare back, as he hadn't come in wearing anything due to having left his things on the table at Derpy's house.  "Slow, deep breaths please." She didn't hear anything wrong with his breathing, so she moved to the front to press the stethoscope to his chest. She tried to count the beats, but something was strange about it. 

 

The nurse's eyes narrowed before her eyebrows rose in bewilderment. "Well, this is strange..." she said trailing off. Derpy's ears perked up at the words. "Is something wrong nurse?" she asked. The earth mare shook her head slowly, unsure. "I'm...not positive Miss Hooves. I'm beginning to wonder if my stethoscope is somehow broken, as I'm hearing twice the heartbeats I should be..."

"Uh..." The Doctor began, then sighed "I am not from around here. My thing.. that got me here broke down. And nobody here knows how to fix one. I just need you to clear me so Derpy and the others don't worry about me, as i am healthy as an ox" He gestured in a way that he almost fell over. "Not use to having hooves. That is why i have the balancing issues. The headache, well i just have it. Always had it and it won't go away, my regenrative stage doesn't fix it" He told Nurse Redheart and Derpy, sure that neither of them actually understood him. "Right then, just conferm that i don't have a concussion so Derpy doesn't need to worry, Nurse"

The earth pony nurse blinked in utter confusion before her expression became slightly concerned. She moved away from the Doctor and wrote down something on her clipboard that neither of them could see. "I will be right back." She took the clipboard and left quickly to go discuss something with a doctor. 

 

The nurse returned a few moments later with the same clipboard and a consent sheet, looking to the two ponies. "Doctor Whooves, I'd advise a CT scan just to be on the safe side. Will you consent to allowing us to perform the procedure. It'll take no longer than five minutes to do." She waited after, seeing what his answer would be.

He looked over at Derpy sure that she is confused too."Where is the scan going to be located?" He asked Nurse Redheart as she asked him. He looked back and forth between them havig a bit of growing concern that they might attempt to do a biopsy on him.

The nurse looked between the two, seeing the confusion on Derpy's face and the concern on that of the stallion's. She smiling warmly to try and help ease the Doctor's concerns some. "I promise you, it's a very non-invasive procedure. It's only a scan of the brain to check for any abnormalities in brain tissue," she explained, "It'll do a scan of your head and we'll see if anything's wrong. If everything's normal, then there's nothing to worry about."

"Alright... Lets get this over with" he said to Nurse Redheart "You may come with me Derpy, that is if you wish to come." He told Derpy just before Nurse Redheart lead the way to the CT room to do the scan. The Doctor did as instructed for the procedure and soon to see if this will subside Derpy's worries.

The Doctor was laid down on the machine, and the unicorn specialist running it lit up his horn to power the machine. The chestnut earth stallion was scanned through it, and image of his brain from the top the sides were shown on a screen for a different doctor in the control room to see. Derpy watched with interest in a waiting area, wondering what was going on.

 

Nurse Redheart went into the room to look at the screens and began to talk in hushed tones with the doctor wearing a lab coat inside. "I've never seen anything this...complex, before..." he whispered to Nurse Redheart. She shrugged. "Do you see any abnormalities?" she whispered back. The doctor shook his head, adjusting a pair of glasses upon his nose. "Nothing that suggests any sort of trauma."

 

Nurse Redheart nodded and exited the control room wit the specialist used his magic to pull the bd back out. Nurse Redheart approached him as the chestnut male climbed off the bed. "We couldn't find anything that suggested any sort of concussion," she told him, "You're free to go, but if anything seems wrong, please come see us right away."

"Alright, thank you Nurse Redheart. Have a good day." He told her then looked over at Derpy, "Come on deary we need to get going." He told Derpy and started to walk out the hospital. He also held the doors for Derpy as they walked out. "Caused a bit more of a panic than i thought..." The Doctor mummbled to him self, knowing risks of doing this. "Nevermind then... Oh Derpy? Do you mind showin me the way back to the TARDIS?" He asked Derpy if she had remembered what a TARDIS was. "I think i have figured out how to contact my friends."

Well, that did alleviate the worst of Derpy's fears, though it did leave her boggled as to why he had amnesia if he hadn't hit his head enough to get a concussion. Could there be other ways to get amnesia? Perhaps something traumatic had happened and his brain had compensated by shutting down his memory? That sounded like something that could happen, from what she had read. It also opened up a slew of new questions, like what had they seen on the results? And why had Nurse Redheart thought she'd heard two heartbeats? And why had he said all those strange things?

 

There wasn't much time to think on it, because as they left the hospital, the grey stallion asked her if she remembered where the Tardis was. That...blue box thing of yours?" she asked, "Uh, I think so? It's near Sweet Apple Acres, just outside of town."

"Yes, the blue box. Do you mind showing me where it is? I don't know... Ponyville, is that correct?" He had asked to make sure he hadn not forgotten after the series of events that occured so far. He also added in "very well. I suppose we could explore more tomorrow and get to know the town." He let Derpy lead the way back to the TARDIS, or in this case, the Blue Box. The Doctor believes he is able to communicate with a friend, unsure of which one he would be able to contact first. However, he hoped to be enabled to talk to Jack Harkess. He knew that anytime is a good time to ask Jack.

Derpy ended up getting them the littlest bit lost, so it took longer to get back to the blue box than she thought. In fact, by the time they were able to reach it, the moon had been risen and its light along with the light of the stars let then see the way. They eventually found where it had crashed though. 

 

"Doctor, how are you going to do anything inside of this? It looks like you'd barely be able to turn around inside," Derpy observed, not knowing that the Tardis was so much more than it appeared to be.

Once they reached the TARDIS, it unlocked for him. "Yes, you can actually fit too." He simpily replied to Derpy. The Doctor knew that the best way to explain it is to let them discover it themselves. He manages to open the doors and waves to come inside "Come on, chop chop, we don't have much time before we need to hit the hay" He chuckled after words thinking that was funny in a small way, also refuring to how late it has became.

Derpy raised a skeptical brow, not believing that she could fit in alongside him. It seemed that the mare was about to be proven wrong though, because after he got the doors open - though not without some trouble - the Doctor entered the blue box. Derpy stuck her head in to at least humor him, until her mouth dropped open at the sight of what was inside, and just how big it was as he walked a bit wobbly still towards some sort of control panel at the center. Derpy entered, her eyes both traveling in the same direction in her awe as they tried to take in everything. "Well...seems like I was wrong..." she admitted with an awestruck expression.

He chuckled as he heard Derpy "Yes, indeed. Now go on, say it." He said, loving the moment the people walking in and saying that it is bigger on the inside than it was on the outside. He had turned to observe the mare looking inside. The Doctor looked around as well, noticing that things have changed from his regeneration to something that will alow him as a pony to use now. He focused his attention to Derpy waiting to say those astounding words.
