Pony names sound dumb outside of canon but cool inside?

Am I the only one why feels like if they heard of a pastel colored pony in any generation of MLP that was named Twilight Sparkle, Bow Tie, Fluttershy, Moondancer, Fairy Flight, ect, that they'd sound stupid (say, for instance, if they were names out a pony name generator, but later, you discovered that these names were made canon, and they now sound cool) Does it just take repetitive drilling of a pony's name into your head before you get accustomed to that name for a pony? Or can you just hear/ see the name once, and be cool with it?

Think there's any difference between MLP name generated names and actual canon names, with how they might sound on a pony character?

It depends on how the name rolls off from certain people. Some will call it cute, others will call it downright cheesy.

The universe of a franchise can condition the audience into thinking stuff we'd normally think is stupid is cool. You know how weird "Everpony" sounded at first? We now embrace it.

I basically thought every name was awesome and perfect right from the beginning because of the dynamic personalities behind them.  The names are cute, and some are kind of corny the first time you here them, but almost immediately I started loving them because of how great the characters are.  The names just fit perfectly  Admittedly, if I just watched G1 or 3 or whatever, and heard some of these names (I forget which named appeared in which G) I would have probably thought they were pretty dumb and just corny.  Depth and personality can make something cool that wouldn't otherwise be cool.  [insert overused 20% cooler meme here.]

Yes. G3 totally failed to do this. It's like they just plastered the name of the pony without even thinking. G3 Rainbow Dash is just a rainbow-maned pony who's into fashion. She's not speedy, nor athletic  She just likes things in rainbows and all that, which is totally stupid if you ask me. Compare that to G4 Rainbow Dash, who's speedy, athletic and loyal. Rainbow Dash totally goes in G4, but in G3...nah...more like Rainbow Shine.

This is pretty much it. Because of the power of the universe around it we take at face value a lot of things that out of context would be silly, like all these really noun heavy names.
