The Alphabet Roleplay was originally started over in the forum game Alphabet Conversation, so here's what's happened so far (Unimportant stuff left out)

Xanthic sand surrounding them, our heroes set off to find the hidden treasure buried in the desert..

Zealously undeterred by the intense heat of the sun bearing down upon them, they press on in search of legendary treasures lost to the sands of time.

A silver pony, Moon Shine, looked around the desert, and then at the others around him.
"If I'm remembering the map correctly, the cave should be around here"

Expeditiously scanning over his map while brushing sand off his smoky grey hoof, Astral Mirage pauses to look up at the newfound cave. "Looks like the place... if I'm reading this thing correctly."

"Fine, let's go in, then..." Blitz noted, staying close to Astral and Moon. "I'll keep wary if I were you, and I'm keeping wary because I'm me..."

Gesturing towards the two Diamond Dogs standing idly near the entrance of the cave while slipping his map back into his knapsack, Astral quietly whispers as not to attract attention "So what do we do about them? Doesn't look like they're just gonna let us waltz on in..."

Being the observant pony that he is, he spots the cave to his left, but notices there's two Diamond Dog guards there.

"Hmm, I'll dash at them while you two slip in, I'm sure I can handle 'em, unless you've got another idea." Blitz whispers.

"I think we should keep this quiet... y'know... in case there are any more of them around," Astral replies, glancing over to Blitz. "Looks like they're splitting up..."

"Ja, that's probably for the better..." Blitz grunted, "wait, splitting up?" He quietly grins. "That should make them a mite more manageable, I think a simple toss-food-as-a-distraction trick should work..."

"Killer idea, except... you got any food on you?" while rummaging through his knapsack. "Can't say I came prepared for a picnic."

(I'm not proud of this one... K.)

"Let's see, hmm, no, I'm afraid not, I thought I'd be able to sustain myself on nearby rocks and sand..." Blitz groaned, "Could a nearby rock work?"

"My thoughts exactly..." Astral smirks as he picks up a nearby rock. "They won't even know what hit 'em!"

"Oh... you mean to distract them with. Right. That works too."

"Now, the assault plan could work, too, if we're quick enough... whichever you'd rather, really." He shrugged.

"Okay. We'll do this fast and silent. You take the one near the entrance, I'll get the one off to the side."

With that, Astral heads towards the cave, making his way along the left side of the mountainous dune covering the entrance.

Blitz nodded and crept towards the entrance, then climbed up above the mouth of the cave. With a quiet unfolding of the wings, he jumped down on the Diamond Dog at the entrance, knocking it out with a solid backhoof strike. He then quickly jumped away and clambered above the cave mouth again, preparing for another to come, just in case.

Quietly, Moon Shine walked into the cave while the others were fighting.
"I should probably scout ahead.." he thought to himself
Moon Shine's body started to glow as he went into the dark cave

"So, what now..." Blitz groaned as no other dogs emerged from the cave. However, watching the cave mouth, he saw Moon go in, and jumped down behind him with a great crash. "Ugh... wait for me!"

"That wasn't so bad..." he muttered quietly to himself standing over the now motionless Diamond Dog. Following the trail of hoofprints quickly fading into the sand by the cave entrance, Astral makes his way into the cave cautiously.

"Uh, so, why are we here, again? I kinda dozed off earlier..." Blitz sheepishly asked Moon.

"Very good question," smirks Astral as he emerges suddenly from the shadows behind them resting a hoof on each of their shoulders, "Legends of long lost treasures, gems, powerful artifacts... it's almost like we're in a Daring Do movie... if you believe any of that stuff, cuz all I've seen so far is a bunch of dirt and rocks."

"Whoa!" Blitz jumped as a hoof rested on his shoulder, but grinned like and as a fool as he saw who it was. "Hmm, legends, if I were cynical, I'd be disbelieving it, too, but hey, we wouldn't be finding anything if we don't look, right?"

Xeric plant life lined the walls of the small cavern, stretching along the floor and occasionally sprawling up the walls and around the various rock formations.

Rubbing his hooves in the dry, cracked dirt, Astral notices the sound of running water in the distance. Turning back to the rest of the group, he motions in his direction. "I think I hear something... this way."

"Yeah, okay... voices?" Blitz whispered as he continued on. However, as he looked at Astral, he failed to notice a pit ahead of him, and in the middle of talking suddenly and abruptedly fell down it, "Aaaaaaaaaaa!"

Zig-zagging and darting through the cavern from rock to rock, he spins around suddenly in time to see Blitz fall through the hole. Flying into the hole after him, he grabs onto him and pulls him to safety. "That was close! This place is falling apart... we'd better stick together."

"Ah! Thank you!" Blitz gasped out in relief. "Heh heh, guess it'd pay to walk in the next pony's footsteps to make sure we have safe footing... say, you earlier said you heard something, what was it?"

Brushing dust off his wing, Astral turns to Blitz, cocking his head to one side, "It sounded like running water... but I'm not so sure. This place is bone dry, it doesn't seem like there'd be water around for miles."

"Come, then, should we investigate this odd water? I'd think other Diamond Dogs may be behind it, so we'd have to stay on guard," Blitz noted as he calmed down from the fall.

"Exactly what I was thinking... where there's one, there's always bound to be more of 'em."

"Hey... you alright? You look a little shaken up there," Astral chuckles patting Blitz on the back. "I got your back, don't worry about it!"

"Yeah, heh, thanks... I'm not exactly the most confident of adventurers, but I'm glad to have a companion like you! So, where to next? Towards the water or away?"

"Looks like there's only one way left. That hole's right in front of the other path."

"Geh, only one way, huh? I always did hate a lack of options, oh well..." drooped Blitz, "well, to the water I guess it is, then."

"Hey, look on the bright side. At least we're not getting lost in here, right?" chuckles Astral as he trots straight into a pile of rocks nearly tripping over himself.

"Right... this way."

"Yeah, whoa, be careful, we should really illuminate the path ahead well..." Blitz cautioned right before he crashed into a stalagmite. "Ow... heh heh..." he said, rubbing his face.

"I can handle the light problem," Moon said as he walked in front of the other ponies.
The light yellow spots on his fur began to swirl around and glow in strange patterns along his coat, illuminating the path ahead "Is that better?"

"Just what we needed. Hey Moon... thought we lost you back there. Couldn't hardly see anything in here before you showed up!" Astral said turning back to Moon with the stupidest grin on his face while balanced precariously between two jagged rocks jutting from the cavern floor.

"Keeewl! I wish I could do that with my fur!" said Riley, looking at Moon Shine in awe. A lightbulb then appeared over his head (free lightbulb!!). He tried to do the shining-fur trick himself (his face was hilarious) and eventually... a tiny, squeaky, stallion-fart was heard.

"Looks like I came by at the right time then," Moon Shine said with a smile, ignoring Riley's display

Pausing a bit to look around, Moon Shine surveyed the cave before turning back to Astral

"Oh, and by the way, you do realize that you're standing on the edge of a cliff, right?"

"My thanks to you for the light," Blitz piped, "But a cliff inside a cave? Must be mighty deep, maybe either a pit or a mineshaft of some sort? I guess there's other possibilities, but those are the biggest two... So, what should we do? Is there a way around?" He pondered.

"No, it doesn't look like there's a way around...." Moon Shine walked past Astral and looked into the pit, noticing light coming out of a hole in the cliff just under them.

"But there seems to be something inside the pit" Moon shine said to the others, trying to find a rope in his pack

"Oh dear, another detour, how I dread those so... well, if we must, I guess we may have to plunge its depths, but shouldn't we take some manners of precautions? What if we get trapped, should we get out and get more food?" Blitz fretted pacing back and forth. "And what if we get badly wounded, it'd be hard to get out of the pit..."

Pressing up immediately against the wall, color drains from Astral's face as he exhales sharply, "Yeah, I see that now... t-thanks..."

"Did someone say food? I brought some along, just in case," Astral chimed in as he rummaged through his knapsack only to realize a tear had taken most of the contents with it.

"Great."

"Quite a conundrum..." Blitz whined, "No food now, so how are we to get in and out of the pit safely... wait, do we even have to go into the pit? Can we cross it? Then again, there may be food in it..." He said, pawing the ground nervously. "What do you think, Moon? You got any ideas?"

"Really wish I had a nice hot slice of apple pie right about now," laments Astral rubbing his growling belly. "How long have we been stuck in here anyway?"

Picking himself up off the ground, Astral trots carefully to the cliff edge scanning the walls running all around the large pit in search of some other way out... or in.

"Hey Blitz... doesn't this pit look kind of weird to you? It doesn't look natural, like someone dug it out."

"So, if you think it's unnatural, I guess that could support my mineshaft theory... But wait, it's a sheer drop, Diamond Dogs couldn't have made it..." He said as he paced, "Unless there's another exit down there, in which case it'd be safe to go down... but if we're wrong, there could be something even worse than diamond dogs down there. Pegasi and griffons aren't known for their digging, you know... so, what should we do? Risk it?"

"That sounds good to me, we won't know if anything important's down there unless we go and look around"

Moon Shine took a glance towards the bottom of the pit

"It looks like it's about 52 meters down, and I have 50 meters of rope, if it doesn't quite reach the bottom we might be stuck there. Should we try for it?"

"Uh, okay, good luck... who knows what terrible beast could create a whole like this... perhaps some great and giant wurm, or a mysterious being with wings and an apitude to dig... be very, very careful!" Blitz shuddered, then went off to the side to see if he could find any of the fallen-out food.

Very carefully, Moon Shine hitched the rope to a stalagmite and started to climb down.

Climbing down the rope, he saw strange markings on the wall, they looked like words, but he couldn't make out anything until he saw halfway down the words "turn around," and "run away." Moon Shine shivered as he read the words, but continued down to the bottom.

Reaching the bottom of the rope, Moon Shine noted that the rope didn't quite touch the bottom of the pit. "It's near enough to be safe, but there won't be any way back..." Moon Shine thought to himself "I guess I'd be better off going for it though..."

Moon Shine jumped off the rope and called back to the others, saying that it looked safe, before wandering towards the light to see what was in the cave

"What? Safe? That's a relief!" Blitz sighed as he walked over to the rope, although fruitless in his food search. He wrapped his hooves around the rope and started inching down, grunting from the rope burn thanks to his method of descent. Eventually he made it all the way down, but couldn't see Moon since he took so long to get down. However, he simply started walked into the light-filled cave, bracing himself for whatever would be inside.

Xiphoid rock formations and stalagmites littered the floor around him. It was a wonder he hadn't already somehow injured himself while darting about in the inky darkness.

"Wait for me!" Astral called out, his voice echoing wildly through the cavern. Walking over to the rope, he peers over the edge, gulping loudly, "Well... here goes nothing." With that, he dives off the cliff and glides toward the bottom, piercing through the darkness guided only by a glowing light at the bottom of the hole.

"Yeah, come on!" Blitz shouted as he saw a shilloute of Astral through the copious amounts of light in the cave he walked in, then stood still and waved. "Don't want to become seperated, now do we! Hurry up, now, Moon's getting quite ahead!" He said as he shifted impatiently.

"Z'rak...." Moon Shine cursed under his breath after stepping through the light filled hallway.

He was feeling tired after his long climb down, and his light was starting to fade, the worst part was that he had no clue where he was, or how he got there....

(OoC: 22 hours seems like enough time to make up a curse word :derp:)

A few seconds later, Astral made a less than graceful landing in the general direction of Blitz's voice. Sliding noisily to a stop assisted by a nearby boulder wedged in his path, he stands up and brushes himself off, "That works..."

"Blitz. Fancy seeing you here," he said, grinning sheepishly.

"Bweh, careful, if some foul beast had made this cave, we wouldn't want to alert it to our prescence!" Blitz chided, but then smiled, "But good you're here, we've gotta stick together... come now, let's carefully go further down the cave..." He said as he continued into the cave.

Carefully, Moon Shine looked around his new location, it was definitely not a place that he'd been to before, and it didn't seem like it was anywhere in Equestrian either...

"Guys?" He called out to his group, "if you can hear me, you might want to come see this..."

Dragging his knapsack a few feet before swinging it over his shoulder, Astral stayed focused on the almost blindingly bright light emitted from the mysterious new passageway. Upon hearing a voice, his ears perk up, "Hey... I think I hear Moon up ahead. How far in does this thing go anyway?"

"Eh, yeah, you're right, I hear him... And if you've got a rock, we can throw it ahead to see how far it can go..." Blitz pondered as he look around, but then got baffled, saying, "Hey, wait a second, where are rocks? All these walls of stone here eerily smooth... this place is giving me the heebie-jeebies..." he shivered.

Flowers and blades of grass twice his size surrounding him, Moon Shine looked around to find the way he came in so that he could get the others.

"What happened to the cave?" Moon Shine muttered out loud, "it was behind me just a second ago... How are we supposed to get back now..."

"Great, lost again," grumbled Astral as his eyes darted around taking in their new surroundings. Pressing up against one of the smooth walls with a hoof, he noticed small carvings etched into the stone, running up and down the walls in strange indecipherable patterns.

"Not really sure what to make of it. Any thoughts, Blitz?"
