CT-1138 3,184 July 9, 2014 Share July 9, 2014 (edited) Was watching a documentary about the Princess last night and some similarities between her and Rarity struck me: -Had fallen for a prince -charitable -regarded as beautiful -aren't afraid of getting their hands/hooves a little dirty So, what are your thoughts on this? Obsidian Sky 14,004 July 9, 2014 Share July 9, 2014 The biggest inspiration for best pone is Audrey Hepburn. Faust said as much afaik. Fitting that one of the most beautiful women ever inspired the most beautiful pone ever. Don't know if there is some Diana in the mix though.

I also see some Vivian Leigh in Rarity when she goes all Drama Reaction. There's a reason that the Gone With The Wind reference was so fitting in Sisterhooves Social.
Whatevs 377 July 10, 2014 Share July 10, 2014 (edited) I suspect Rarity is sort of a combination of Hepburn the person and Hepburn the characters she plays (like Golightly). But I cannot prove that. Edited July 10, 2014 by Whatevs
Nature's Spell 526 July 10, 2014 Share July 10, 2014 (edited) Rarity, or at least her accent, is modeled after a upper class Boston or New York City high society lady of the late 19th or early 20th century.
