  1. 1. Are you afraid of non-military drones?

    • Yes, people can use them to spy one us and maybe even make them lethal.

    • No, it is irrational to have such paranoia. Yes they can be used for malicious purposes, but there are laws in place to protect people.

    • No opinion, there is no way I can tell what can occur before drones become commonplace.

As someone who is going to school to become a pilot, I am more concerned about the potential impact widespread use of drones will have on air traffic than I am about drones spying on me.
From what I understand, commercial drones generally fly at very low heights compared to other aircraft so they shouldn't interfere with airspace.  Since the commercial use hasn't been approved yet, not all the specifics are worked out or known about how they will be restricted, but I imagine they will be restricted to lower airspace, and won't be able to fly near airports to remove the risk of them colliding with other low flying aircraft.

True, but it still seems like they could pose a risk too low flying aircraft such as life-flight helicopters, as they often have to operate at low altitude, and in unpredictable locations. Still, I'm sure that these things will be taken into consideration, and admittedly I haven't really read into this much.

The FAA has regulations on altitudes at which non-licensed flying vehicles can go at.

Flying model aircraft solely for hobby or recreational reasons does not require FAA approval. However, hobbyists are advised to operate their aircraft in accordance with the agency's model aircraft guidelines (see Advisory Circular 91-57). In the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 (Public Law 112-95, Sec 336), Congress exempted model aircraft from new rules or regulations provided the aircraft are operated "in accordance with a community-based set of safety guidelines and within the programming of a nationwide community-based organization."

Forgive me, but I gotta say, that's the kind of attitude any Government that's spying on its citizens likes to hear. Rather than resist, they like to see citizens throw their hands up and say "I have nothing to hide". It's not about what you have to hide, it's about the principle of your right to privacy and how they're violating it. Besides, if you ever one day had an interest in politics or made an enemy in the Government, they now have ammo to use against you. They could say you listen to violent music and watch porn like an addict, so you can't be trusted. Nobody wants that.

Drones being used to spy is one of my main concerns, although their use as deadly weapons is another as well. But since BronyPony seems to have researched this and he seems aware of any private or legal issues he may have, I see no reason to fear any drones made by him at all.

It's all about protecting people's rights in the face of new technology, not abolishing it. Some may say we shouldn't have drones or other tech because of all the bad, but I think as long as we protect people's rights, most technologies can be used for good, including drones.

so probably about never.

So be it.

If you truly see nothing wrong with a Government spying on you and knowing everything about you and think that it can never be used against you, then I'm completely fine with that. I just don't personally think that way at all and I think that line of thinking can be dangerous.
