SolidTwilight 383 July 17, 2014 Share July 17, 2014 (edited) So a bit of background. Me and my friend are 29 year old males (we were 28 at the start of this story). been friends since high school. some time back in the winter we were board and flipping threw netflixs and watched the john delancey documentary on bornys as a bit of a joke. the next day I started watching the show and got hooked right away. so about 2 mouths ago I tell my friend that I have been watching the show and really like it and that he show at least give it a shot. I pick 4 episodes for him (sonic rainboom, lesson zero, and the return of harmony 1&2) he says ok, I will watch them tonight. a few days later I ask him about it and he did not watch them. this go back an forth for about 2 mouths until finely on Monday night here does it. I ask him about it and he tells me that it is too girly for him and that it was just as girly as he thought it would be. I have not talk to him since (just because I have not seen him to do so) I am very disappointing, not because he dose not like the show (although I am a bit about that) but because I have spent the last two mouths talking about it and tying to say how its not what he thinks and it was exactly what he thought it would be. I feel really embarrassed about the hole last two mouths. also if I did not talk him into watching the show and just left it at I like the show, he may have looked it up on has own and had a better retraction to it but who knows. anyway has this happen to anyone else? Jeric 46,883 July 17, 2014 Share July 17, 2014 Not everyone likes the same thing, which is perfectly cool. I have shows that everyone loved, but I really didn't find that entertaining. I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan. My wife finally sat down a watched them and she hates them. Not just dislikes ... or is disinterested ... but actually thinks that they are some of the worst films man ever produced. Taste ... so very subjective ... but what can you do? Don't hold it against your friend (doesn't sound you you are).
Courageous Thunder Dash 7,825 July 17, 2014 Share July 17, 2014 @@SolidTwilight, I think he's just stuck in the stereotype and fails to look beyond all of it. chanseychansey77 7 July 20, 2014 Share July 20, 2014 Mention how the show has clones, time travel, a god of Chaos, nuclear explosions, slavery (those poor sheep!) and lasers. If that doesn't persuade him to give it another try, be respectful of his decision. Otherwise you'll look unreasonable and turn him off from yourself and all bronies. Pinky Pie 71 July 20, 2014 Share July 20, 2014 Since he waited 2 months for watching, I'm pretty sure when he watched it, he didn't want to do it. Also it would be better if you suggested him watching Twilight's Kingdom, since it has one of the epicest battle scenes ever If he watched him with a pure mind, without any prejudice, he would've probably liked it. But there is nothing to do if he don't want to watch it, just don't push him or your friendship will be in trouble.
SolidTwilight 383 July 21, 2014 Author Share July 21, 2014 (edited) UPDATE: so I got to spend a bunch of time with him this week end. And out of nowhere he asked "if the unicorns have magic, and the rainbow one can fly, what can the ones with out wings or horns do?". latter they day some more questions like that come up. then that night we were looking at stuff on youtube (he just got a smart tv with youtube app so we were playing with that) and I start playing some fan mlp videos. I think what pushed him over the edge to start liking it was the fluffy mixer ones. anyway I think he likes the show but did not want to admit it to him self at first. the seed just need to grow in his mined at bit so to speak. anyway funny story from Saturday night. we were watching a bunch of gun videos on youtube but as soon as his wife fell asleep, we start playing some pony videos and when she would wake up for a bit we would put some more gun videos on "nothing to see here, just guns and explosions.... is she asleep? ok back to pony stuff!" lol.
