Stone Cold Applejack 381 July 17, 2014 Share July 17, 2014 I was watching Bob's Burgers and they had an episode about bronies. Well if you hadn't seen it the assholes who made it made us look so weird. Here's the things they made us do. Wearing poorly made pony coustumes and never taking them off. Kissing plastic pony toys to "harness their powers" Driving a dirty van Gather in circles just to talk about pony toys Being a dick to a girl Kidnapping that same girl TRULY YOURS, YOUR BIGGEST FAN. TenorSounds 832 July 17, 2014 Share July 17, 2014 (edited) Nope, not offended at all; I thought it was hilarious. It's a satirical view on the fandom and with that it's expected for them to be a little heavy-handed with some of the more absurd elements of it. Besides, most if not all of the negative things you mentioned were carried-out by the villain, and the show made it pretty clear he was doing that stuff because he was crazy, not because he was part of a fandom. If you recall the other members of the "Equesticles" were perfectly fine, if a little enthusiastic about their hobby and simply did what the bad-guy said because they were intimidated by him. In the context of satire, this was probably one of the most respectful representations of Bronies from a 3rd party. Edited July 17, 2014 by TenorSounds 2 Check out my YouTube Let's Play Channel! User07832407840 177 July 18, 2014 Share July 18, 2014 I was watching Bob's Burgers and they had an episode about bronies. Well if you hadn't seen it the assholes who made it made us look so weird. Here's the things they made us do. Wearing poorly made pony coustumes and never taking them off. Kissing plastic pony toys to "harness their powers" Driving a dirty van Gather in circles just to talk about pony toys Being a dick to a girl Kidnapping that same girl I did not get offended at all, and here's why: the "Equesticles" I don't think were intended to represent or directly parody bronies. There's enough differences between the pony show in that episode (the "Equestranaughts," or whatever it was) that I think they did not intend for it and its fandom to actually represent the brony fandom. So when you say "the things they made us do," I think you are misunderstanding the intentions behind this episode. They didn't intend to give a representation of our fandom. They were only using our fandom as the basis of inspiration for the Equesticle fandom. They then made fun of the fictional Equesticle fandom, but they were not making fun of ours. Here's one piece of evidence for the Equestranaughts show not being a direct parody of MLP, though I'm sure there's more: when Teddy is telling Bob about the Equesticles, he mentions that it is a good show, then adds "Well, some episodes before the reboot." This is the exact opposite of MLP. And then with the concept of the Equestranaughts being so different from MLP:FIM, I really think they're trying to make it clear that they are not trying to make a statement about the brony fandom but rather are using the idea of the brony fandom, the idea of a large group of males watching a show people think is for little girls, to base an episode off of. If you watch the episode expecting that it will give a representation of the Brony fandom then of course you'll be offended. But you just have to look at it from the point of view of it making fun of a fictional fandom, albeit one that was inspired by ours. And it's easy to see why they chose to make fun of a fictional fandom based off of ours: because the idea of a fandom of adult males watching a show traditionally thought to be for little girls is a funny idea. It's really easy to make an episode of a comedy show based on that. The people who made this are not assholes; for the reasons I've explained, I believe the episode is more of a tribute than a satire.
jaime_lion 56 July 18, 2014 Share July 18, 2014 lol I found it funny. they got the crazy right but the funniest line was from the one kid that said "give him a nipple you can never have too many nipples" in reference to tattooing his father. Rainblow H. Ash 5,091 July 18, 2014 Share July 18, 2014 Hilarious episode that made me laugh several times. As much as Cork Top made some good points, I'm pretty sure they're directly referencing the Brony fandom. It's a fictional fandom about magic ponies where dudes get together and dress up as ponies at conventions. It's an obvious Brony parody, not everything has to be one to one for that to be true. Doesn't make it any less funny to me. If you want to see it, the episode is called "The Equestrenauts". 1 #bringbackmerriwetherwillaims

Shanks 10,816 July 18, 2014 Share July 18, 2014 No, it made it clear in the episode that while there are some "equsticles" (that episodes equivalent of brony) like that that the ones who did that stuff did it because they were jackasses/completely insane not because they like cartoon ponies. And the episode was never meant to be taken seriously the begin with so, take that as you will. Rarity Get's Cockroaches

It may not have been BB's intentions to portray the brony fandom negatively, but I guess that doesn't prevent some people, like your dad, from getting the wrong idea about bronies because of that episode. That's too bad. But on the bright side, at least the differences between the Equesticles/Equestranaughts and the Brony fandom are so extreme that it probably wouldn't be too hard to convince someone who's reasonable and willing to listen that bronies are not like the Equesticles at all. However, if that person is not willing to listen or be reasonable, then that really sucks... I hope your dad doesn't think you're like the Equesticles now.
