ggg-2 3,553 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 Meghan has said that Twilight will not outlive her friends. In Winter Wrapup, Twilight, in passing, states that Ponyville is hundreds of years old, despite being co-founded by Granny Smith, who is still living. I propose a theory, in which anypony who comes into extended contact, physical or otherwise, with an Alicorn is granted immortality, or at the very least, a very very extended lifespan, through a process I call "associative immortality". This could also explain how Granny Smith could have lived all those years. what do you think? Don't be a nerd. Join the herd!
PoniesPlease 365 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 Maybe they just all live for a really long time. Maybe Pony years are different to Human years. Maybe the writers really don't take this stuff into account.
TenorSounds 832 July 23, 2014 Share July 23, 2014 [...] Maybe the writers really don't take this stuff into account. Bingo. Ponyville being around for 200 years being retconned in a later episode/the writers simply forgot the 200 year thing seems more plausible than "associative immortality", as interesting of a theory as it is. 1 Check out my YouTube Let's Play Channel! jeray2000 111 July 24, 2014 Share July 24, 2014 I think that Granny Smith is just really old and managed to live that long through being healthy and powerful inner earth pony magic extending her life. And my own theory for why Twilight won't outlive her friends is because Hasbro will make all of the Mane Six alicorns at the end for a final G4 pony toy. paradoxical 1,735 July 24, 2014 Share July 24, 2014 Meghan has said that Twilight will not outlive her friends. "Obviously" Meghan didn't listen to the spell start at 0:17 and you'll see the phrase "magic without end" Seems pretty immortal to me! I don't care what the so called word of "god" says. The words of Twily really indicate immortality, so unless she gets old or dies it's more canonical IMNSHO than what Meghan stated.
pony.colin 156 July 24, 2014 Share July 24, 2014 (edited) Meghan has said that Twilight will not outlive her friends. Which episode does Twilight say Ponyville is hundreds of years old? Just wanting to remember. And where is it said that it's specifically 200 hundred years old? Or was that just meant to a random number of a hundred? In my own opinion, I agree with the retcon/didn't think about it when we wrote it scenario. As for how long ponies live, honestly if the show is mimicking so many human things, then I wouldn't really put it past for ponies to have lifespans of around human length too.
