I like warm soy milk! It's really one of the few things I can think of that I like warm, because I mostly prefer cool beverages. (Not counting soup. Because soup is not a beverage.) 

 

The reason I like it is because it helps me get to sleep if need be. Makes me feel really relaxed and just content with everything when I drink that. It also tastes really good if you put oatmeal or chocolate into it. Mmmmm. Making me hungry for some oatmeal right now. 

 

 

Although pets can't speak, are they able to understand spoken words? Also, are they able to read writing?

 

 

It depends on the species. Some more Mind-oriented species can understand many spoken words, whilst other creatures are limited to a level more resembling pets in real life. On a general note though, most pets can understand a good significant chunk more than a real life animal. Particularly if one communicates with them by transmitting and reading their emotions. 

 

The ability to read writing is rare, and once again only goes to those that are oriented in Mind.

Yes. Other species are more limited in their choices though than sapient ones. Many creatures are only capable of having one or two elements that their species is able to specialize in. The feline I showed you before, Barashti, can only specialize in Fire or Water.

Although I still have a lot of work to do on creatures, I still have a load of absolutely ancient MS Paint sketches... let me see what I can find here.

 

On the cute side of things, we have an Evenodge. This is a Nothing-elemental Genesis (what creatures are known as in Alterra) which is inquisitive, shy, but very friendly. It's not the most intelligent of Genesi, but it is still capable of understanding many concepts and is very easy to manage. Some of them can be pranksters though, and like to phase in and out of objects to play tricks on unsuspecting people.

 

 

If you want something a little more combat-ready, we have Halxeken. These are Reality-elementals. They're cool and cunning, and love a good game of chess. Halxeken make very good tacticians and are very obedient. They have a dedication to order and duty. 

 

(The head is the black thing bellow the giant light grey wisp. And they have a sword for an arm.)

 

 

Now, if you want something you can ride around on, we have Matroi. These are Fire-elementals who are very speedy, using their flames as rocket boosters for thrust. They tend to be harder to care for though, as they often leave behind soot and ash wherever they go. Behavior-wise, they are mostly docile, but can be easily offended. So they require a calm, nonjudgemental hand.

Inquiries don't hurt! They're very light, soft, and fluffy. So if you throw one at me, it actually feels quite pleasant.

That's fine with me. I have... a LOT of Genesi made, actually. But many of them can't be pets because they're dangerous, and also, they're sketched out and ambiguous.

 

Yes, they can. Sometimes even more so. But there's no real difference between the usage. Pets and other creatures can use the exact same abilities as Wyvalists, Valstaens, and humans. They have access to the same techniques, although some may be able to use techniques that the sentient species can't. Or they may not be able to use some abilities of sentient species.

Idea time! Perhaps the arenas could have a category where a fighter and their pet team up to face off against another fighter and their pet? That would probably allow for a great variety of strategies, since there are a lot of different pets.

Yes, I think this could work out nicely. Good idea. 

 

Genesis (singular) is the collective name for all of the animal species on the planet. That includes Valstaens, Wyvalists, and humans. But it isn't often used to refer to humans, just as the word "animal" in real life isn't used to refer to them even though they are actually animals. Valstaens and Wyvalists don't care as much about the distinction though, and will freely call themselves Genesi. (plural, for more than one)

 

You used it correctly, yes. But they're left alone to be in the wild, much like wild animals in this world. Valstaens try not to interfere with them, but Wyvalists will sometimes try crazy things like using some high technology to try to tame and control them.

We have a Nakure. This is one of the most dangerous Genesi in existence. It is a ruthless Nothing-elemental tiger which devours its prey by converting their entire body into Nothing. This thing is luckily very rare, but feeds on Valstaens, Wyvalists, and humans. It can live several weeks without food, as it feeds off of Nothing-elemental energy.

Also, I've noticed Lunaris has changed his avatar to someone who looks a bit like a blue version of your Valstaen character. Is that Lunaris's Aelita character?

That sounds like Pokemon and Team Rocket. I'm not sure how that would fit into the current plot, to be honest, because the main focus isn't really the Genesi. They're more just the wildlife that inhabits the world. But perhaps, it could be changed to a group who is trying to harness the power of the Guardians, which would certainly be more threatening. That'll have to be for some other plot thread.

 

Well, Arylettopia (as it is temporarily called, we're changing that name as well once we think of something), is a democracy. We plan on having the Valstaens and Wyvalists have a different system of government from humans, but we haven't quite figured that yet. But it would be closest to a democracy.

 

Also, yes, that is his character. Well, more so just him as a Valstaen. But mine is also me as a Valstaen. He's a Griffon Valstaen.

I've thought of this all the time. It depends on the person what the result would be, but I will use Lunaris as he is the one I have thought about it with. (And the only one I'd authorize such a thing to occur with.)

 

Having a fused mind with him would probably make things a lot easier for both of us, as we each have skills in our brains that compliment the other. When one of us has a weakness, it is typically the other's strength. For instance, I do not have the ability to imagine images too well in my mind. But he can imagine vivid images and symphonies, so I'd be able to do that. And he would gain from me the ability to word my thoughts and feelings very precisely. Our minds together would probably create some sort of prodigy genius near unlike the world has ever seen. But it would also be intense chaos, because both of our minds are kind of chaotic. 

 

Is the world ready for such a thing? Probably not. Do I care though? Hell no! That would be the best result ever.

 

On a side note, our combined mind would be a female. Because we're both feminine. :3

To start things off again, how much of the land is covered by towns or cities? Are there huge cities that cover most of the land, or do natural areas like forest or deserts still cover most of the land?

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten about this! I've just been rather busy lately. But I'm back now and ready to question everything there is to know about Arylettopia! To start things off again, how much of the land is covered by towns or cities? Are there huge cities that cover most of the land, or do natural areas like forest or deserts still cover most of the land?

 

 

There is no need to apologize. I understand perfectly. 

 

Anyway though, I would say around 70% of the land is covered in civilization. This is back from the reign of humans, who wanted to spread themselves across the land as much as possible. Valstaens are working to remedy this, and the areas that are more heavily populated with them tend to contain much more nature. Wyvalists have more of a similar attitude to humans, having the desire to "upgrade" natural areas and make them useful, so their areas are highly industrialized and have huge cities. Between these two, they haven't made much progress in changing much up from the time of the humans.

How common are crimes within the towns and cities? Is the crime rate different for Valstaen-dominated cities, Wyvalist-dominated cities, and cities with an even amount of them?
