Could the FIM comics be around longer than the actual show?

I think it would be a good idea that once the show ends, the comics could keep going. It would be a great way to expand the show's universe. The Sonic the Hedgehog comics are a good example of this. 20 years after SatAm got cancelled, the Sonic the Hedgehog comics by archie (which was more of a tie-in of the show) are still running. I think it would be awesome if the same happened with the FIM comics.

It's likely only if G4 continues after the end of the show. Once G4 ends, a complete reboot of the franchise would be in order. Unless G5 media picks up where G4 left off, it probably won't happen after the end of G4. But, we can dream.

I don't know if it will. The comics are a product of the show, and are almost like an alternate/expanded universe thing to the series, so if the shows stops, the comic will likely stop with the show.

I don't see why you can't have 2 different pony universes when G5 comes out.

In fact (dumdum dduuuuum) with EQG we kinda already do.

As long as it makes money it will happen.

Well, many popular licenses under IDW's care are being continued years after their respective shows were canceled. Continuing FIM after the show ends is to be expected
