Picture uploads and birthday reminders

I just had two ideas that may improve the functionality of the forums.

 

1. An upload button on mobile. Currently there's no known way to upload a photo on the mobile version, not that i know of at least.

 

2. A birthday rememberer! You could click on a button on the user's profile and you'd get a notification when it's their birthday.

First of all,both of those ideas have been very suggested on the forums,and,sadly,they can't be implemented right now.

 

There're higher priorities on the site(fixing the recent Image Breaking Bug,per example) than to add that functionality on mobile.Also,the mobile configuration is pretty hard to configure,and,as has been stated before by other admins and mods,the Tech Admins have enought work both on the forums and IRL to work on that.

 

You can swap temporally to the Full Theme on mobile,and it'll be the same than on PC(My Settings->Change your Avatar) to upload avatars on mobile.

 

About the Birthday Notifications,it could work well,but,if you're a person that has lots of friends,it would be at long term another mean of spam,unless you deactivate that notifications,leading you to the same situation than before.

Also,I don't know if it's possible with IP.Board 3.0(the one that this forum uses),as I can't look at the avaitable addons on its marketplace,but it would be something to mention to an Admin,and see if it's possible to put on this forums.

I didn't really mean all your friends, i ment more that you can select it of you want it or not.

Modifying the the mobile skin/theme template is relatively easy unless you want features like Status Update controls.

 

Developing and implementing a feature rich mobile application is would probably be the way to go, however you have a much longer development cycle to that, and dependencies that may change.

 

Birthdays could be placed on the Content Filter under tracker.

 

Either way ... I haven't finished my cloning chamber yet for Lavo 2.0 and Feld0 2.0. I'll let you know when I have.
