"Oh, I don't think he could-" She stopped mid-sentence and looked up at her mischievous little pet. "Sure, let's go see the field. Will it be in use when we visit? Archery is such an interesting sport, I would love to see a range in use from the perspective of someone who knows more about the side of those who run it."

"Unfortunately, no. Anala will have finished her sessions and gone home by now," said Riley, as they walked out of the store. He locked up the door. "But she does leave her equipment in a storage space, so I'm sure she won't mind if I show it to you. She trusted me with a key."

"That sounds nice too. Either way it will be interesting. Sports, like pranks, are not something I spent much of any time pursuing in my childhood, and I think it's nice to learn a bit about even the things that you are not necessarily inclined to pursue. Besides," She walked out the door and looked up towards the sky. "It's a beautiful day, and beautiful days should be spent outside, at least in part."

"Then let's go!" said Riley. He led the way to the field on the outskirts of the city.

 

Even though it was past the designated closing time for Anala's tuition, she was sitting there, looking up at the clouds.

 

"Looks like I was wrong," he stated to Eloquence, as if it wasn't obvious. "Hey, Anala!" he called out to the mare.

 

Anala turned around. "Oh, hey, Riley. Who's this?"

Eloquence smiled and introduced herself to the mare. "My name is Eloquence. Riley brought me here to see the field where you hold your archery classes. I hope you don't mind." Ellipsis chirped his own hello, not wanting to be forgotten about. "Oh yes, and this is my hummingbird, Ellipsis."

"No imposition at all," said Anala, smiling. "Pleasure to meet you, Eloquence."

 

Ellipsis flew over to Anala and invited himself to perch atop her head, to which she chuckled. "Cheeky little featherball," she joked.

 

"So, Anala, why are you still here? Don't you usually pack up and go home by this time?" commented Riley.

 

"Well, I don't really have anything to do, so I just decided to stay and watch the clouds," replied Anala.

 

Riley whispered into Eloquence's ear. "She may seem soft, but for your safety and mine, don't make her angry."

Eloquence chuckled and nodded before turning to Anala. "I can't say I blame you. It is positively gorgeous out, and on such a day I much prefer the soft coolness of grass to hard, unforgiving concrete, especially in such a beautiful area as this." she said as she spun a bit to take in the scenery.

Anala sighed happily. "Me too, Miss Eloquence."

 

"Thing is, I spent the first few years of my life in a more rural place. But then my parents split, and my dad needed to find a smaller house to support three kids, so I went with my dad, sister, and brother here to Manehattan."

 

"It's still nice that I had this field to play in."

"That's certainly understandable. I grew up in a more urban area as well, though I was there my whole life. Canterlot was lovely, but I think I would've liked a forested area that was a bit closer to my home. Sometimes I just didn't have time to make the journey and had to find other natural areas to relax and write in. I even snuck into the castle gardens a few times." Eloquence said with a giggle.

Riley and Anala were surprised at Eloquence when she mentioned sneaking into the castle gardens. "Well, I hope it was worth it. That doesn't sound like something you'd get off scot-free for if you got caught," said Anala.

 

"This field was a pretty regular hangout for us, like Anala said," said Riley. "Good thing she was around to save the day becasue I'd gone and done some foolish thing like get stung in the rump by a bee, or climb a tree with no idea of how to get down."

"My punishment likely wouldn't have been as terrible as you might think, especially since I was just a filly. I was nearly spotted by a guard once though. Thankfully Ellipsis was there to distract her while I hid... in a fountain." She giggled as she thought of the incident. "I had to lay on my back with just my nose out until she left. That was the day I ventured nearest to the castle of course, and protection of the castle increases as you get closer."
