MLP movie plot ideas

If an MLP movie (not Equestria Girls) were to come out, what do you think the plot should be?

 

I'd say it could be about a dragon emperor who returns hundreds of years after his defeat by Equestria. He then returns to get his revenge and destroy all of Equestria.

I don't like the repeated plot of a villain that "came from some prison seeking revenge after a 1000 years ago".

 

Instead of any kind of villain, why not take something similar to Godzilla, a powerful force of nature that just does what he does because it's part of mother nature to do so?

 

Just like the Smooze from the original MLP movie, who was just a weapon of destruction and contamination, Godzilla is basically the opposite, and even fought a similar being, Hedorah. I don't know why, but I think it could work.

 

And I mean GODZILLA. Not the 98s Fakezilla or 2014s Fatzilla. Gojira, the King of the Monsters.

I also think a movie describing the history of Equestria and all its surroundings would be appreciated. They are creating the world around it like any mediocre cartoon would do to the undiscovered parts of the world some characters live in.

 

In Adventure Time it makes sense because the world is huge and it's a fantasy world. But in MLP everything is more defined.

A mlp movie, not a Equestria girls movie... I'd love to see it as a "series finale", showing all of the little ponies moving on with their lives, with Rarity in Manehatten, Rainbow Dash with the Wonderbolts, Pinkie/Apple/Futtlershy still living in Ponyville but seeing each other less and less since the old friends aren't around and Twilight having to be actually busy with her royal duties, like the other princesses seem to be constantly

I mean, a movie to show that it was all over, but it was amazing while it lasted, I'd love it

The Mane 6 vs. "The Elements of Antagonism", taking on a villain team made of characters representing elements that are the opposite of theirs.

Well, I feel like a FiM movie (with ponies, no weird pseudo furry/humans) should really chronicle the ending of the series as a whole. I would have them face a more contemporary enemy (like an evil Celestia, as Twilight besting the evil sun goddess would  solidify her position as her heir) this enemy being a former friend and ally would really test their bonds of friendship, something the entire show is based upon. This ultimate test would result in the achievement of finality for the series, as it would call upon old allies and possibly even more popular antagonists (like the return of Gilda, them calling on Trixie for aid). I would really have it be the grand final show, with full involvement from characters that have appeared throughout the series as they assist the mane 6 in besting the evil Celestia.

 

The ending of course would wrap up all loose ends left in the series, such as Rarity officially getting her own franchise of stores in Canterlot, Twilight ultimately replacing Celestia as leader of Equestria, and Rainbow Dash becoming a fully fledged wonderbolt. It would resolve any standing plot lines the series may have left (ie the CMC) and wrap up the series nicely, preparing the franchise for the next chapter.

I've had a few ideas. Two of them are inspired by Star Trek, weirdly enough.

1. Do a Wrath of Khan type deal where you take a popular villain from the show and have them return in style. In this show's case, the best choice for this kind of story would be Chrysalis. She's a potentially the perfect villain to a more cinematic production; everyone was already calling her episode a mini Disney flick, so it's not hard to imagine the writers, with the additional freedom afforded with a movie, having a lot of fun exploring the darer sides of her agenda like the folks behind the comic did. With maybe less kitten slaughter. Maybe.
2. Ripoff Pay homage to The Undiscovered Country, which revolved around two sides of a long conflict trying to find a peaceful end to the hostility, only for a mysterious and unseen foe to sabotage the proceedings and potentially ignite a war. I dunno, I always thought that'd work great with ponies and griffons, or whatever the writers want to use, and it'd be a great test of Twilight Sparkle's role as a ruler trying to keep the peace.
3. Mane Six are forced on the run for some reason (framed for crime, bad guy takes over Equestria, etc.), they have to travel across the country to solve mystery/defeat evil and stuff. I can't be the only one who'd want to watch each of the Mane Six react to being on the lamb in an adventure that would explore the farthest corners of Equestria.

I really think Twilight's Kingdom could've been a movie if it had about an extra 45 minutes...failing that, I'd love a big dramatic story along those lines.

A decent exposition of Luna's transformation into Nightmare Moon and some actual drama about her relationship with her sister degrading and how it affected Equestria. Nightmare Moon depicted as an actual threat at the time. Since Equestria is just a country, how did it affect other countries. What were the zebra, the griffons and the others doing? Some explicit consequence for Celestia turning to the Elements and using them against the other one, that used to be a bearer too. Maybe Celestia actually trying to fight back. And for the love of God, don't give it Meghan McCarthy to write.

I would love to watch a movie that focusses on luna and celestia and explains what happened 1000 years ago, it would start with the end of hearts warming Eve and end with luna's banishment. It would explain a lot about luna and celestias past and all the villains will return :3
