Fail #3

So this was my third attempt at sculpting MLP characters.  This time I went for spike, and I was pretty happy with the way the form turned out.

 

 

I mean, yeah he turned out pretty fat, and the hands look horrible, but over all the shape was kinda cute.  Then this happened:

 

 

Guys, I am terrible at painting faces.  How can I redo at least the eyes to make Spike look less horrified?  Any suggestions?

Practice makes perfect. Give yourself a bit more credit and keep up the good work. As for the eyes, can you cover it with another layer of... something? Either that or remove a bit. Sorry, I'm not good with this kind of stuff

I wouldn't call that a fail. You just need to practice more and you'll have the best Spike of them all.

the sculpt itself looks rather good, it is just the facial expression, I would either give him some sort of eyelid on his eyes, as that would help reduce his wideyed'ness

hey don't beat yourself over this I think its a very good piece while its true that not all our work will be masterpieces but that doesn't mean its not good just keep trying and you'll do better next time *two thumbs up*

It doesn't look all that bad honestly, looks pretty good -- alot better than the pile of mush i would be able to sculpt. 

 

Tho i admit his facial expression is...well let me have Spike himself say it for me. 

 

Still, good job on the sculpture itself.
