Do you feel like this is too closely paying homage to FIM?

Is that even possible? Personally, I don't think so. But there are many instances in which the timeline and homage to FIM, from this charmingly adorable comic called Heavenly Nostrils (by Dana Simpson) tie in with the events of MLP: FIM, such as the occurrences where Twilight Sparkle (called Boysenberry Swirl in the comic) is given orders by Princess Sunbutt...I mean, Celestia, (who's called Sunbeam in the comics...and has an alicorn sister called Princess Luna...er...Princess Pedantia), Twilight- like Boysenberry- starts out as a plan unicorn who later gets wings and becomes an alicorn in the 'show' and 'toyline' that they're both in, a "Pastel Unicorns" movie comes out in the comic, around the time Equestria Girls movie is announced, with- ironically, the Pastel Unicorns in the comic also becoming human in the same high school setting, and the comic's character's dad being a Brony, who enjoys the "Pastel Unicorns" that his daughter enjoys, across all the existing generations of it, like G1, and remembers characters from it and how they were revived in the new generation (like g4 MLP and Bronies)

any thoughts on this?

The artist has been pretty upfront about the fact that "Pastel Unicorns" is a very thinly disguised take on MLP. In fact, he recently auctioned off for charity a chance for a brony's OC to appear in the comic. (In fact, I'd be willing to bet it's the green unicorn with the mechanical wings and sergeant's chevrons, given the different look of him.)

very thinly, indeed. I'm a little surprised Hasbro's not banging on the artist;s door with a C&D, it's so closely referencing with their franchise and characters. Do you have sources for this?

Considering they're just different enough and he's been using them for satirical purposes, which is protected under copyright law, I don't think Hasbro has a leg to stand on if they tried to C&D him.

Google "Heavenly Nostrils" and check the artist's website. It's all there.

Why would she get a cease and desist on this? Actually let me qualify that ... anyone can sue anyone for almost any reason - validity is decided by a judge. I'll rephrase my question based on the angle I infer the OP and subsequent reply was taking.

This.

I see no legal issue with this comic. I see no moral one either.

well again, as I said in the OP, i enjoy this comic- and its MLP references- thoroughly, and the last thing I want is for the artist of it to actually get C&D. But just looking at Hasbro and how they've been slapping those on a lot of things, pony-wise, I was just a little worried, I guess

Personally I like them, I have no problem with them because they are not only spot-on with hasbo's marketing but also being funny without being too harsh or offensive.
