ManaMinori 4,149 October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 Personally, I think the concept can exist within Equestria, as there's potions that can be made that respond to alicorn magic (as we saw with Zecora in possession of that white potion that she gave Twilight, back in season 4), There's just plain dark magic that's used by Zebras that I'm sure can do it (as seen in one of the books in the dark magic section of the Canterlot Library, in "The Fall of Sunset Shimmer"), there's creatures (like Tirek) who can outright suck the magic of an alicorn, and use the power for themselves, there's ways to transfer one (or many) alicorns' magic to a completely different vessel (as seen with Luna, Cadance, and Celestia giving twilight all their combined alicorn magic), and spells that can change a non alicorn pony into an alicorn (as seen by Celestia, when she turned unicorn Twilight into an alicorn). Now the reason why, perhaps (as least not what we see) the concept is possible but just might not be practiced is that everypony (from what we see) is pleased with the rule of Celestia, Luna, Cadance, and Twilight, to just have no need to run secret, shady underground laboratories that use the aforementioned magic available to try and artificially create an alicorn to overthrow the ones in power. (but let's just discuss the possibility to, with all the magic mentioned somepony/zebra could have access- authorized or not- to) Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
Dattebayo 2,850 October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 Of course. They can use the Impelled Metamorphosis Potion. Hahaha Oh god, I'm so alone 1 ^Click for my Deviant Art^ You truly are the Rosa Parks of not understanding what r34 is.
lelouch. 625 October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 agreed. I don't think there is a need for more alicorns because they have a great amount of power. the more of them, the more likely a disagreement, and hence destruction. but I think it is possible to create artificial ones, I think twilight is an artificial one herself. a strong spell should do the trick. I don't think having a bunch of alicorns in one place is any more likely to lead to disagreements and destruction more than any other race. Case in point- there were other alicorns in Canterlot when Luna and Celestia were fillies (Journal of the Two sisters), and things seemed- from what was mentioned- relatively peaceful with them around. Arguments and disagreements don't always lead to an abuse of power, and you'd think with alicorns, who are longer lived, they'd have more practice to learn to control those powers in such instances. Artificial ones, on the other hoof, I was thinking of them being created in secret for some kind of uprising or something. (if Hasbro goes there. The show's been pretty dark at times, before) Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub

More alicorns would induce partitions, and opposition between groups, and there would be hell over equestria. But idk.

But you can't determine the actions of a group based on the actions of one individual (or the circumstances of the individual). That's completely unfair. 1 Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub

Yes, but Twilight's destiny was to become an alicorn (and destiny is important in the MLP world), it would be impossible to create new alicorns if they don't even have a purpose, even the strongest spell only works on the right pony (and that's why Starswirl was never able to make it work) 1 Equestria's best unicorns

But long story short, i dont think it was twilights destiny, but celestia just noticed a lot of potential in her, and decided to force her through everything that would help her get to the point of becoming an alicorn
Fhaolan 4,494 October 9, 2014 Share October 9, 2014 That's actually the plot to a Doctor Whooves story I started writing at one point, and put aside because I still haven't figured out where to go with it. Some dark organization experimenting with surgically modifying cutie-marks, and attempting to transplant horns and wings to create artificial unicorns and pegasi, all with the intent to eventually be able to 'create' full alicorns... and rule the world, of course. Because of the Nightmare Moon's return, if it weren't for that Twilight would never have been able to learn about the magic of friendship, become the element of magic, and become an alicorn. And also Celestia said that it was Twilight's destiny. 1 Equestria's best unicorns

(again, see OP) Tirek was also able to do it (magic sapping and using it for himself), and he didn't have friends That's actually the plot to a Doctor Whooves story I started writing at one point, and put aside because I still haven't figured out where to go with it.
