What do you want the plot of the upcoming MLP movie to be?

Like many people have said, I'd like it to be a series finale.

 

What I think would truly make the movie amazing, is like the conflict to be less of your typical good vs. evil story, and have more grey areas. I would like to see a villain that we can sympathize with, (to a certain extent of course,) instead of your typical "Rawr, I'm evil for the sake of being evil!" villain that we see all the time.

 

I know that saying what I want it to be about won't change anything, but whatever.

Hoo, boy.  There's so much potential here.  I actually haven't seen season 4 yet.  Eagerly awaiting the release of the dvds.  So I might be a bit behind and out of touch.  I also didn't read all the posts in here, because I'm still trying to avoid season 4 spoilers.  I usually stay out of show discussion for that reason.  I only go in Sugarcube and Everfree.  But I really wanted to weigh in here.

 

I kinda like OP's idea of a Griffon war.  (Griffin?  Gryphon?  Was never quite sure on the spelling.  Gotta pull out my Magic the Gathering Griffon deck)  I'd definitely like to see Chrysalis in it.  I'm of the mind that it should be big and epic, more than just three or four normal episodes mashed together.  It's gotta be an impressive, big-screen worthy story.  I wouldn't mind something with dragons, but I'm not sure in what capacity.  I like the idea of the movie being the series finale, if that's what they're going for.  I think that's just speculation at this point?  But it would be nice to see the show end at the right time, on the right note, and not pull a Simpsons.  Speaking of which, I'm so glad to hear that the MLP movie will happen before the show is stale.  Most shows peak around season 8, imo, but the Simpsons movie didn't happen until, what, season, like, 18 or something?  So, this is very good, imo.

 

After FIM ends, though, I still say they should do a spin-off movie about Celestia and Luna in the time of Starswirl.  I guess it would be a movie based on the sister's journal?  I never read that, but I got the jist of it.  Anyway, I've talked about that one before.  It should be My Little Pony: Ascension.  Before they were goddesses, they were ponies.  Chills, dude, just chills.

 

I do have a couple of ideas that I think would make a killer MLP movie plot, but I was thinking of writing a fanfic or two about those, so I'll keep em to myself for now.

Anything..and I do mean..ANYTHING...

 

That has Sunset Shimmer, taken the full time role of "The Sixth element" in human society (ie EQgirls).

 

So we can FULLY dismiss, Twilight Sparkle..no hate, I do love me some Purple horny, do not get me wrong. But Sunset is being pushed so hard right now for Summer Slam, that to just make the 3rd film ANOTHER attempt at milk-toast "Hey guys...the human world is JUST LIKE Equestria!" will make me want to die....

 

Shimmey has EARNED her spot, give her the Element of Unity, give her the role she was BORN to play, one of leadership, redemption and...most of all...DO NOT LET THE HUMAN WORLD TWILIGHT PLAY ANY DAMN PART PAST A LAME SUB-THEME TOO THE MOVIE......

 

I swear...on Celestia's massive, cake and pie fattend flank...if human Twilight, shows up, and suddenly becomes the human Element of Magic, I am going to throw up all over Tara Strong.

I want them to all sit around and have a tea party and talk about really girly things and giggle in annoying voices. Then after 2 hours of this they all turn into alicorns and flash sentry marries Twilight. The credits roll listing Merriwether Williams as the lead writer and FIM is over forever. Wouldn't that be amazing!?

 

No actually I guess just a cool adventure that has Discord in it, perhaps another awesome guest actor to play a villain and then there'll be a couple good songs and no major plot holes and that's about it. Surprise me with the rest

I think the threat of a Griffon(It's spelled that way in the show, so...) Empire would be good, perhaps with some New Luna Republic and Solar Empire Civil War type stuff going on before and during it. 

 

Plot made up on the spot: Do Judge. 

 

 As a new Griffon Empire rises in the (Insert direction here, East or West since we know the north is to cold and south is ruled by dragons.) and begins to threaten war with Equestria, the Mane 6 are sent as ambassadors there to negotiate a peaceful solution. Said negotiations may take a long time and Discord decides to have a little fun by stirring up some trouble in the form of fear.

 

Many ponies begin to fear a new Nightmare Moon or are tricked into thinking that Celestia is a Tyrant. This slowly causes a civil war to arise despite Luna's and Celestia's efforts. Discord is sent to retrieve the Mane 6 despite negotiations not being over, thus angering the Griffon Empire to the point where they send an army to force the Mane 6 back to the Griffon Empire until Negotiations are over as agreed before.

 

The Civil War begins and the Crystal ponies lead by Cadence provide refuge to those who who do not want to deal with the war. With the ponies refusing to listen to reason and either becoming more 'loyal to the cause' or fearful of a Tyrant or a Nightmare. This forces Luna and Celestia to either hole up in Canterlot or flee to the Crystal Empire until the Mane 6+Discord return.

 

During this time the CMC assist the refuges and gain their cutie marks. Applebloom = Hammer with Apples (Food Storage?), Sweetie Belle = Something Musical (Singing to give hope to the refugees), Scootaloo = Scooter with a Heart? (Raising support for the refugees)

 

Eventually the Mane6+Discord return and put an end to the fighting by Harmony Magic while reminding the ponies about their deeds as heros. How they stopped Nightmare Moon and if Celestia was a Tyrant then why isn't Twilight? Things like that.

 

Anyway, the Griffon Army arrives and this time Luna, Discord, and Celestia all go to do the negotiations instead. Thus confirming that the Council of Friendship can work as a government and Equestia is saved from itself, the Griffons, and from perhaps future Dragon Raids as well.

 

Big picture shot with everybody(Including a few well-known bronie OC's) and a flag of United Equestia in the center of them. In the background you can see Doctor Hooves getting into a Tree-Box and disappearing after flashing a smile at the camera.

 

Cue Credits...

 This in my opinion, would be the best ending MLP could possibly get. It's easy enough to keep it as a Children Movie but with plenty of background stuff going on that would help Bronies love it too. It would allow the MLP Series to easily go out with an awesome bang while leaving a revival open. Likely as the Council of Friendship replacing Luna/Celestia/Discord(?) as the 'Authority' in Equestria while allowing the CMC's to a make plenty of appearances, it also keep the Crystal Empire open for grabs and brings the NLR vs SE thing to an end. 

 Also the Changelings could be given an Aftercredit's scene where they are rebuilding.   Just to screw with everybody.

 

World Building with no Major Villain. What's not to love?
