I mean, since the first episode of MLP, Twilight's seen to have this big book of everything pony lore, telling of Nightmare Moon, the Sirens (in EQG2), and Luna knows what else. I dunno, but it seems like this book would be filled to the brim with cool content on just about every piece of lore, whether villain, or other (non-threatening) species and their lore, that i'd be interested in reading. Starswirl's notes, eh? That could provide some juicy info. Especially if an actual book got made on that book he wrote about the alternate dimensions, in the IDW comic arc, and all the worlds he and Celestia went to, and their experiences there. -drool- T-rex Fluttershy! Just look at the toy line... yuck. I just can't sit through fan-fiction. Too much headcanon (coughshippingcough) in them, and it takes away from the central story and what the canon show is supposed to be about. Fan fiction will just never be quite the same as official stuff because with official stuff you know that it can be supported and built upon while fan fiction by it's nature is all fanon and will be contradicted by the official stuff inevitably. Plus the official stuff has been pretty good so far. I have to agree with this statement. Don't get me wrong; we've had some GREAT fanfiction from some talented writers. Considering works like "It's Dangerous Business; Going Out Your Door" and all, you know we have some great things from this fandom. At the same time, @Andaasonsan's point really rings true. With works like "The Journal of the Two Sisters" and the Daring Do books, we have material that not only builds on what the show, but is directly referenced towards the show itself (moreso than the comics). That gives us official material to actually build the world from. You can't do that with fanworks; really. As great as some things can be, it's not official material.
