NightStrike slowly opened his eyes just a little bit as he felt something wet on his hoof. He noticed Rosetta was licking his wounds and that they were healing. "So that's how their victims don't bleed after they bite them" . He was feeling a lot better and he wondered why. After a while he realized that she must have given blood back to him and he gasped. Noticing the flowers too he opened his eyes wide open and made a surprised squeal. "Y-You really just made those for me and gave me blood?"  He couldn't contain a big smile. "Thank you so much Rosetta!"

The mare opened her eyes and nodded as NightStrike saw a smile upon her face. He's never seen her smile before, but it was pleasantly nice to see it. She got up and came close to NightStrike. "To vampire ponies, any mortal willingly giving blood to another vampire pony is translated into many good things, but most apologetic. No mortal has ever done what you've done, without a chase or hunt, but willingly giving blood to a vampire in it's hour of need is most honourable. For years we've always hated your kind, and we'd never accept your help but in the time of near death, no mortal has ever done what your shown tonight. I'm no longer like the others, for no vampire pony could ever regret, but now I do. And I thank you for that, NightStrike" she said as the mare bowed to him.

"Okay I've got to be dead now." He thought to himself shaking his head in confusion "No way she would actually act like that for real... wait is she smiling right now?" She actually had a very pleasant smile, and because of her teeth NightStrike thought it looked rather cute. After she even bowed to him he became terribly red. "I-it's nothing really. I c-couldn't leave you behind there. This world is so much b-better off with you in it" He stuttered out clumsily bowing back to her. Internally he was jumping happily with joy and he did his best to keep a respectable attitude.

 

"So are you feeling somewhat better?" He asked her doing his best to hide his blush.

Rosetta smiled again as she accepted the compliment. When NightStrike asked if she was feeling okay the mare nodded once more as she took off her bandages. Because she licked the wounded area her hoof looked like it never was bitten. "I do feel better, much better and because of your actions I no longer feel the need to feed, again thank you NightStrike" she answered as the mare blushed with joy.

 

"At this time in my life I must prepare my entire body with enough blood for the most important part of my kind, for mares at least" she said turning around looking at the mood as the reflection of the night with faintly in her eyes.

NightStrike tilted his head curiously. "You're welcome, it was nothing and I'd give my blood to you a hundred times over if it would help you." He said smiling a bit but still blushing from her compliments. "So what is this next stage in your life you were talking about? Excuse me but well.. I don't know that much about vampire ponies you see" He looked down ashamed "actually before I saw you I did not know they existed at all."

 

NightStrike realized he never actually felt this happy in a long time. And all that thanks to the mare standing right in front of him. Every time he looked at her he felt like happiness was rushing trough his body. He was obviously feeling something for her.

"We vampires have always been here since the dawn of Equestria. Mortals would tell stories to there young ones about the many dangers within Equestria, including my kind. No pony would ever think those stories of vampires we're true until we started to prey on more than animals, attacks came about and mortals who experienced the bite would get other ponies to attack us. We vampires never get along with mortals, ever there is always been fights between us. We have lost many of us, we can be captured, hunted, we can even be killed if we leave our territories some of our ancestors who had to suffer through wooden stakes and silver bullets. It's a tragic lost for my kind, but what mortals seem to not understand is we feed on blood, nothing else, we could kill anytime we wanted, sucking every last drop but we choose not to for we have been doing as much suffering as mortals have for years. My mother once said that if mortals and vampires come to peace with each other, we all can coexist with each other in harmony...but my father knocked those silly dreams out of my mind a long time ago..." She finished as the mare's smile faintly disappeared but then re-appeared as the mare brought up the answer to NightStrike's question. 

 

"And also to answer your question, I give you one word: offspring. There comes a time in a vampire mare's life when she need to settle down and produce her own offspring with the same race. To keep my kind alive it is a must to be paired with the right stallion with strength, excellent vision and flight. It is a tradition for two vampire ponies to produce offspring with either one or more of that list. As a mare I need all the blood I can get so I can support myself and my unborn foal." she answered as the mare blushed with looking at the moon.

NightStrike nodded understandingly as he listened to what she said. "Well I guess strength and vision are in order, I fail to qualify bigtime on the flight part though." He thought as he looked into her beautiful eyes. "Well Rosetta" He explained as he smiled shyly "You might think that whole coexistence in harmony thing is a silly dream after all but you were also the first mare that got a mortal to willingly give you his blood to save you. I guess there might be hope for that dream after all right? Besides that, not all so called 'mortals' are as close minded as they used to be in the old times. Maybe just maybe it might come true after all." He smiled again as he looked with her towards the moon, and the stars around it. "It's a beautiful night sky isn't it? Sometimes I get the feeling ponies don't appreciate the beauty of the night enough."

Rosetta nodded in agreement with NightStrike, the moon was beautiful and the stars helped it's all around perfection. "The moon means a lot to us out there, it's a symbol we vampires take to heart, my mother once said that one day when I return to my home and father chooses a stallion for me, our courtship will be sealed with a perfect full moon, shining brighly" she said seemly looking forward to it and at the same time not.

 

Rosetta's heart started pounding as just talking about it and being besides NightStrike made her feel strange, she could only feel it but couldn't hear it. She'd wondered if all ponies ever felt this way, but most importantly she wanted NightStrike to hear for himself. She felt too embarrassed to ask such a silly thing but maybe it wouldn't be if she only asked.

As NightStrike looked at her sideways he couldn't help but to smirk a little. "Hey Rosetta you seem a bit nervous or exited or something. I mean I can't hear heart rates or anything but everything about your demeanor tells me that you are." He stared at the moon and let out a small sigh "So Rosetta, what kind of stallion where you thinking of? Do you actually have your own choice when choosing a stallion or does your dad get to decide everything... sounds rather well.. sucky I guess" He tilted his head "Then again, better than not knowing them at all I guess."

 

As he talked he shuffled a little closer to Rosetta until they almost touched each other with their sides.

"O-Oh is that so..? I'm fine, really just fine, NightStrike. But when it comes to my mate, I don't make the choice, my father assigns me to the very best. Every clan leader's child when reached adulthood must be paired with the best of the group. Its not a big deal, it's just business to my father as a clan leader, he wants the best stallion who'll bring me the best offspring. So I don't get to how you say fall in love with anypony, mother says I'll eventually fall in love with my mate like she did with my father, why you ask NightStrike?" She said smiling as she looked at him.

 

How could she even be okay with what she told him? It was unbelievable to NightStrike.

As she asked him why he asked this NightStrike had to blush. "Why do I ask you say?" He laughed nervously "Well it's just that well... eehm I was just interested what you.. eh I mean vampire ponies see in a relationship that's all."

 

He started to fidget around nervously. Somehow he thought she would not react well if she found out how much NightStrike liked her. "So you don't mind you actually have no choice in choosing your loved ones at all? Even though you are an adult?"  He looked at her shyly "Actually I was wondering, has it actually happened that a vampire pony and a mortal.. well..." He didn't actually dare to finish his sentence

"It's always been this way for years, other vampire ponies can choose there mates, but if your blood lines to a clan leader like myself you have no choice. It's tradition for a mare like me with a clan leader for a father to choose. It's just how things are. And to answer the other part it's never happened before, mortals and vampires could never been in courtship like that, the elders told us it would only bring complications and misery." She said looking back at the moon, with loving setting eyes.

 

She wondered why he would ask something like that, she told him the answer but was so curious to know why he would say it. Unless...he had a liking attraction towards the mare...but she thought that wouldn't be, she only saw herself as a monster and only a stallion of her kind would want to courtship with her.

Nodding understandingly NightStrike listened to what Rosetta told him. Upon her saying that a relation between a vampire and a mortal would only bring misery however he cringed a little. As she looked to the moon he stared at her, and for the first time he admitted to himself that he was in fact in love with her.

 

Also because of that, he felt like he had to admit something. "Eeehm Rosetta? I feel like I have to tell you something. You see I might have lied a little, because in fact when I asked all these questions it was well because I eehm... I rather like you Rosetta..." He told her blushing all the while

Rosetta wasn't really paying close attention to NightStrike distracted by the beautiful moonlit sky. She turned to him as he continued to blush. "Pardon, NightStrike I was a bit off, what did you say?" She said with a smile.

 

She was really curious to know what NightStrike was gonna say to say to her. Her heart raced just looking at him she wasn't sure why but it was a good feeling inside her.

"My luck" NightStrike mumbled very softly. "Okay well" He shuffled around even more comfortably as he started talking to her in short shy sentences. "Well Rosetta, admittely eehm I eeh quite like you." He looked into her eyes making sure he got her attention "I could even go as far as to say that I'm in love with you. How could I not, you're an amazing beautiful mysterious mare. And the way I feel around you tells me that too." He looked down again shyly.

Rosetta was surprised, how could any stallion fall in love with her all she saw herself was a monster, a beast, a creature in the night that takes away the lives of mortals, and NightStrike was in love with her. Rosetta couldn't figure out what to say, her face flushed with red as ears pressed down. Her heart just pounding like a drum, making her speechless, but she couldn't stay silent forever, she had to respond to him...but what could she even say??

 

Rosetta wasn't even sure if she felt the same, love to her was buried deep away like the rest of emotions since she been seporated from her parents. But up until she met NightStrike, he showed Rosetta to release and bring back those emotions. With him she knew it was okay to do so, and the way he treated her with that much kindness and honorary respect, and the all and all general way she felt about him...it all made sense. Without her noticing until now she had miraculously fallen in love with NightStrike too.

 

"I-I don't know what t-to say...is what your s-saying true.." She spoke still madly blushing as the mare stuttered.

NightStrike gasped as he looked at her reaction. He had expected a lot of things, most of which involved getting angry but her getting shy like this blushing madly? That was something he did not expect at all. "Owh so sorry Rosetta! I didn't mean to make you upset like that" He said quickly with a worried look on his face "What I said is indeed true Rosetta. I wouldn't dare to lie to a mare like you. I'm terribly sorry it's just the truth" NightStrike shyly pawed at the ground with his hoof cursing his own stupidity internally.

 

He did not know she liked him or had any feelings at all. And now he thought that he had offended her deeply. Because of that he hated himself for that.

So it was true, and if what her heart desired NightStrike then it had to be real as well. But then again Rosetta wasn't sure if she was ready for this, it had been years since she felt this way towards anypony. "W-Well I..I'm surprised but NightStrike, you must understand that I haven't felt this way in years, and I would not know of mortal courtship as the same for you but for vampire standards, yet deep down we are divided into different groups..it is all a blur to me, and yet..." she said pausing for a minute, "I too feel the same..." she finished as the mare blinked. 

 

Rosetta putting her hoof over chest just feeling how these emotions brought back memories of her past. Thinking about how a mortal and vampire could ever be together, how there could be peace between the two races.

"So she does feel the same about me!!"  NightStrike realized. He jumped up and did a little squeed out of joy. "I would never even have guessed you felt the same! That's so awesome to hear! I mean from the moment I first saw you I liked you already and the longer I stayed close to you the more I began to like you, and this feeling was just overwhelming and then I realized I love you Rosetta!" He ranted happily

 

"So what do we do now?" He asked "I mean eeehm I'm not sure of course but what would your parents think about the fact you liked a mortal? Would they disagree? And what about the rest of the vampires? How would they react?"

Rosetta seeing the outburst of joy that came out of NightStrike, of course she did feel that way but the back of her mind she wasn't sure if it was right or if this was serious. She decided to let these feelings grow, as days go on maybe her love for this stallion will start getting bigger.

The mare remained calm as she took a deep breath and exhaled to answer him. "I'm not so sure, but what is sure is that neither would my parents or my clan will not like this, mortals are deeply hated where I'm from, but if father spares me a chance for you, then you will be able to stay." She replied looking very serious but worried at the same time.

NightStrike snapped out of it on hearing that "Owh of course" He facehoofed "Well first thing I should do is getting used to the traditions and ethics of vampires right? I'm sure I'll make a way better impression when I do." He started thinking about how to impress them.

 

"How should I act around them Rosetta?" He asked curiously "I don't want myself saying something stupid or rude when around them."

"Well vampires don't really find mortal humor or anything your kind does amusing what so ever. With higher members such as the elderly, and my parents don't smooth talk, don't laugh, don't smrik and especially don't question them. As it goes for the others don't stare, don't point, be respectful, be loyal, stay away from trouble. Because father wants to choose a stallion for me you do not interrupt him or disturb the suitors, they are bigger than you, remember your trying to be able to fit into the society and because all vampires consider mortals below themselves you don't prove yourself above them. If you want to show my father you can provide for me you must complete tasks, which will prove your loyalty, strength, agility, bravery, cunning, and wit. I don't know what the tasks will be he chooses. Towards other females or their young you must ask permission from their partners to talk but not touch. And most importantly, if you are accepted like the other compatible suitors for me the last two fight until one in victorious and the other in near death. Anything else?" She said taking a breather to catch her breath after that explanation.

NightStrike gasped in disbelief as he heard all she said. "Well Rosetta it seems as though I've quite a lot of tasks to complete before I can get even a chance of having you. But for you I'd go to Tartarus and back because I love you" he ended with a little smile. "Honestly I would hate the idea of being the low scruff of society again. It would remember me a lot of my last which will be kinda painful. But I know I can't screw up. Especially not now. And I am going to prove them that I'm not just the run of the mill mortal!"

 

He was feeling both excited and worried by the recent turn of events. He knew that he wouldn't be able to touch Rosetta without getting an angry vampire pony clan on his tail. He sighed a little "seems like love will have to wait for the moment."

Rosetta was surprised that NightStrike still wanted to do this, it was sweet and noble to do for her, he really showed pride in winning her heart over every single suitor that would be against him, something not a lot of vampire mares would want in a mate. "Well..." she said, "If this is what your certain about then I have no reason to stop you. I know even for a mortal against many other vampires it sounds ridiculous, stupendous, outrageous, complete nonessential if you will, and others would think you're crazy, and some might disagree and call it brave and true example of standing for what you believe in...but know that even explaining everything that is important, you must practice at it. To fit in our society you must mimicry how we act around others, to speak, to present that you, a mortal can fit in and show that both are races can coexist together, and when you make that mark, for mortals and vampire ponies to get along and work our problems out it will be then when their can't be any other reason for you to be in courtship with me." she finished walking a bit closer to give him a hug.

 

"But you can't do it alone, and I will help you to become the first to many others to come in the future to fit in vampire culture...but you mus listen to everything I say and do what I ask of you, can you do that for me..?" she whispered while still in hug mode as her heart pounding against her chest excited, nervous and emotional at the same time.

"Totally the best hug I ever had!" NightStrike thought as Rosetta hugged him. He felt all warm and fuzzy but totally excited at the same time. He was also quite sure he was blushing. "Rosetta" He whispered softly back in her ear wrapping his hooves around her in the process. "I will do anything you ask of me. And I'll try to do my very best to fit in, and will not question you again. You have my promise on my word of honor. Because I won't fail you again I promise it."

 

He felt quite self assured even though his heart was pounding in his chest too, but he felt that was more because of his love for her and being as close to Rosetta as he is now than it was because of nervousness. "So what do I need to know Rosetta?"
