@@Swinton,

It seemed to be a perfectly average day at first glance. The weather was somewhat overcast; a damp aroma clinging to the air suggested that it had just recently stopped raining. Ponies carried on with everyday business as usual.

But a certain pony would suddenly hear something on the other side of their door. Somehow, a little red Earth filly, a very young one no more than four or five years old, had found her way to this very doorstep. She was cold, her fur and hair almost dripping wet; the poor thing had been caught in the recent rain. Her parents were nowhere to be seen, and the small pony had every reason to be on the verge of tears as she whimpered.

Starchase was mildly annoyed to hear his peace and quiet broken by a soft whimpering. He was lazily lounging on the sofa with a book he was slipping though. As the noise did not cease, he reluctantly got off his comfy spot and opened the door.

The smell of freshness swamped the air. He looked down and saw a filly on his doorstep. His eyes nearly popped out of their sockets and rolled about the floor. But her eyes were begging him and she was all wet and shivering slightly with her parents nowhere to be seen.

"I suppose you can stay for a while," He sighed and shook and his head gently as he led her in and found her a spare towel. "What's your name?"

@@Swinton,

At the least, the filly was happy to be welcomed into the warm home. But her large golden eyes kept looking around, searching, looking for any trace of her parents as though she hoped they'd be in here for some reason. Of course, they weren't. A few tears welled in her eyes. She just wanted to go home...

She brought her gaze up to the young stallion, ears flattening against the sides of her head. "G-Galatea," she answered meekly.

"Oh, don't cry, Galatea!" He was genuinely alarmed. The last thing he needed was a crying filly in the house. "It's okay. I'm sure we'll find your parents soon enough. I'm Starchase." He stuck out a friendly hoof. "You can stay for a while till we find them, okay?" He bent down a bit to her, hoping she wouldn't burst into tears.

@@Swinton,

The little filly sniffled, rubbing at her teary eyes for a few moments before looking up at Starchase. His plea seemed to have been heard, since she didn't look to be on the verge of bursting into tears right that moment.

She glanced down at his hoof, holding out one of her own tiny hooves in curious mimicry. But the distraction was only temporary as her attention returned to him. "But... I don't wanna stay here. I wanna go home... she whined. The tears returned as soon as they had gone, along with an added pout.

"Well just stay put and you'll be fine." He sighed, starting to mildly regret his decision. "Are you hungry? Can I get you anything? Juice? Chocolate?" He took her to the kitchen and set her loose on the fridge, hoping it would distract her and she'd stop giving hin those eyes.

@@Swinton,

She didn't protest as she was taken into the kitchen, but she did stare at him for a few moments more when he placed her in front of the fridge. Then she did turn her attention towards the fridge, examining its contents with mild interest. She poked around a little, but being so small, she could only reach the lowest shelves. Even when she hopped up onto her hind legs, she couldn't reach much higher, although she did have her eye on some chocolate that was out of her reach.

Seeing her eye his chocolate, he (reluctantly) grabbed it off the top shelf and handed it to her. He made a mental note to go to the store and buy more, much, much more. He popped her onto the couch and continued on with his book, sparing her a glance every now and then.

@@Swinton,

Being given the chocolate made the filly smile, distracting her from her current predicament for a little while. Once placed on the couch, she nipped at the wrapper on the chocolate bar, managing to tear said wrapper enough for her to get at the treat underneath. Then she started nibbling at the chocolate; it really was sweet, and she may have been a little hungry anyway, so she started eating somewhat quicker.

She kept glancing at the stallion, though, watching him read his book. He'd been pretty nice to her so far, but she wondered if he knew where her home was. Or her parents. She had gotten separated from them, and up until that point, the filly had always been by their side; she was only four and half years old, after all, and said parents hardly ever let her out of their sight.

He caught her looking at him and he threw her a smile. A scratching by the door told him Diamonds, his little pooch was at the door and wanted to come in. He jumped off and let her in,leaving the filly by herself in the living room. To his dismay, the little dog tore into the living room. But thankfully she just sat down on the sofa beside Galatea, where Starchase had just been sitting. He just shook his head and stroked Diamonds. "Who's a good girl?" He cooed as he rubbed her belly. "This is Diamonds." He introduced her to the little filly, hoping it would distract her.

@@Swinton,

What was that at the door, she wondered? The filly hadn't expected a small canine to come darting in, so she was a little startled when next thing she knew, the dog was sitting next to her. Large golden eyes stared curiously at the dog, as though Galatea was trying to decide what to make of it.

If he was looking to distract the filly from her current predicament, it worked. "Doggy!" she said with a smile, even though she'd just been told the dog's actual name. Without a second thought, she reached her tiny hoof out to stroke Diamonds.

Diamonds decided she liked the little pony. She liked the hoove stroking her and nudged her repeatedly with a wet dog.

Starchase gave himself a pat on the back. He had yet to devise a plan to find her parents or where she lived but there were more pressing issues at the moment: dinner.

He could cook a decent meal but he wasn't sure what fillies liked at that age and he didnt want to take her attention away from the puppy. Sighing, he went into the kitchen to prepare whatever he had for their next meal, hoping Diamonds would distract her long enough for him to cook.

@@Swinton,

A little giggle escaped the filly as she was nudged by the canine's wet nose. Yes, this was a nice doggy, she liked the friendly doggy. She moved her small hooves up to the sides of Diamonds' head, toying with the dog's ears happily. She didn't get to be around pets that often, but she did like nice animals. Most were soft to the touch, and fun to play with.

Letting the dog distract her was indeed a good idea. If let be, she was likely going to amuse herself by playing with the dog for as long as Diamonds herself permitted.

Starchase pleasantly surprised to find his living room intact and not messed up when he had finally managed to cook what he deemed a half decent meal. He carried the plates over to his small dining table, just the right size for two.

"Galatea, time for dinner!" He called. At the mention of food, Diamonds bounded over, begging as usual for a scrap or two.
