Sunset Shimmer FIM incorporation. How, when and why?

I for one would like Sunset Shimmer to be in the show, I think she'd be a great interaction with Twilight and her friends and I hope she'll be on the show someday soon.

I think that the biggest issue that they would have in bringing Sunset into the fim show is that I've read that they want to keep EQG as an extension of fim and not where you have to see the movie to know what's going on in the show. So to incorporate her into the show they'd pretty much have to reintroduce her. Not that I think the writers couldn't do that effectively, it would just take a full episode to explain to an audience who has never seen the movies (and what a great episode that would be!) Unless Twi just sumerizes everything that took place in two movies in a two minute speech. Sunny is so beautifully designed, and such a good character it's almost a crime that we only get to see her once a year.

I could see her as a frequently recurring character, kind of like Zecora. Plus her being a pony would mean more merch. Pay attention Hasbro, there's lines of fans trying to give you money for Sunset Shimmer merch. Make it happen.

I don't think that reintroducing Sunny would be an issue for DHX, if they were going that route. I mean, just look at the season 5 premiere. They did a good job establishing the mane 6 and their personalities for people who might've been new to the fandom and just joining in on season 5. Not to mention, Sunny kinda wasn't a part of the EQG franchise to begin with, since she started off as a pony in Equestria. (and also, your claims of them wanting to keep EQG separate kinda falls apart, when they've been incorporating the pony world in it. In the first movie, in the second, and with the portal that Twilight built as a means for - in her own words- "her to visit whenever she wants/ It's just goodbye till next time", means further merging of FIM with EQG. So no. Not separate AT ALL, in fact.

the ponies even talk about the human counterparts while scenes are in Equestria, and scenes from the movie (such as Twilight's crystal castle existing after she got it in season 4 don't stray from the series canon/ timeline, either), so that's also a thing. I'm sure DHX could reintroduce Sunny back into her rightful home quite easily, if they wanted to, without making it feel as she's being reintroduced.

First of all it wasn't my claim. I was just going by something I read in an interview. My bad if I explained it poorly. Let me try again. It wasn't about not wanting to mix pony world and EG world, they clearly did that in both movies. And yes, the portal on demand mirror device is in Twilights castle and that will be how Sunny will eventually return to Equestria where she belongs.

 

The interview I was referencing, I believe it was Meghan, had said that the events from the movie (this was from before Rainbow Rocks) would have no relevance to the events on the TV show. ( like the comics as well). The main reason I even remember this is when Flash Sentry made that cameo in season four everybody brought that up and called her a liar. My guess is that may have been the original intent, but things can change. I think all of us participating in this thread hope that they do realise what a great character Sunset is, and do decide to bring her home and feature her on the show. I do feel the staff at DHX has the skills to pull this off. It's my opinion (hope) that it would take a two part episode to do it with the depth it deserves. Like in part one she is reintroduced ( for anyone that hasn't seen the movies) and explain why she's back in Equestria. And in part two conflict resolution, and establishing her role as a recurring character.

So at the end of "Rainbow Rocks" Sunny writes in the inter dimensional journal, that used to be Princess Celestia's,until she gave it to Twilight, a friendship report that starts "Dear Princess Twilight...". I belive that they coraspond on a regular basis, it's just not seen on rheshow. When they show either the mirror portal or Twi corresponding in/with the journal (even if it's just shown in the background) that would be enough foreshadowing for me to know they plan on bringing Sunset Shimmer back home (and the the TV show).

that's REALLY late, though- having her come back at the series finale (not much room for development or anything, really), and you're cool with that? (do you think they'll make her a main during generation 6, if they save her till the very last second of season 5?)

 

since the pony movie is coming sooner than the end of the series itself, I think there's more window of opportunity to bring her back to Equestria during the movie, and have chances to slip her into certain episodes during season 6, afterwards.

She ca develop herself pretty well in Equestria Girls, we got the Friendship Games this year and probably we'll get another EG movie next year, plenty of room for development for her in my opinion

well, I meant more like seeing her in action, her powers, how she interacts with the ponies after so long, adjusting, her future as a potential ruler with Twilight, and all that kind of development.

a little more than "a bit", I'd say. She's too good of a character to keep confined to EQG, though. (especially since many of us want to see her as a pony again). I can only hope MLP:FIM lasts a few more seasons, so they can try to slip her in, and utilize and develop some of the other characters in EQG, because it seems like since the beginning, poor Sunny's been carrying that franchise on her back; being the central focus of it.
