open Expedition into Uncharted Land

A galleon sails across the treacherous seas towards uutforskede landomrader. Taking those brave or foolish enough to seek out the treasures and power believed to be there. They are not the first, and they a definitely not the last to travel on the E.N.S. Landomrader to discover the secrets of this land, or die trying.

Chronos sat near the front of the ship, He had his Bastard Sword over his shoulder. He had been on this boat for 3 months, and spent about the first month sick. The 'genius' who was steering this thing had already ran into 2 storms nearly throwing Chronos overboard once. 'I hope this treasure is worth it...'  Chronos thought. He stood up and looked at the land the ship was heading towards. The pony in the crow's nest had seen the land about 2 hours ago. Chronos turned around and started walking to the stairs to get to his cabin. He tried not to hit any one with his sword.

Three months of travel so far, surely he hope they would reach upon this new land shortly. The zebra sat in a meditative pose on the deck. With what lack of thing to do this was the best to clear his mind. Such a unique name, a thought came to his mind about the island before dismissing it.

His short sword sat sheathed in it's holster next to him as continued silently to listen to the world around him.

"How did I manage to get myself into this one?" I thought to myself. Leave it to me to have picked the worst ship to stowaway on. With all the stories about great heroes hitching rides on ship I thought it would at least a little fun and exciting, my experience has proven to be the complete opposite filled with such fond memories such as, violent seasickness, crippling loneliness, and terrible food.

After spending what I believe to have been the last three months cramped into the cargo bay below deck, its only understandable that I would be a "bit" miserable. My only solace seems to be at night when I can escape to the decks of the ship for some fresh air, though being careful to avoid the other's aboard the ship. Though I'm surprised I haven't been caught yet seeing how I don't have very good sea legs, the storms we keep running into don't really help much either.

If it weren't for a few books that I "borrowed" from the captain's quarters, I'm pretty sure I would have gone insane by now. I wonder if prison would have been a better option... Actually now that I think about it, it would probably be more of same. With the added bonus of most the other inmates wanting to kill me for one reason or another. I'm not the type that's good at making friends it seems, but who needs friends when you are Manehatten's number 1 petty thief?

Well formerly number 1, my last "hiest" rewarded me with half of Equestria's law enforcement on my trail and even a few of the princesses' royal guards. Who would have thought stealing from noble's would warrant such an overwhelming response?

At least my luck can't possibly get any worse than it already has.... right? I need to get off this ship already, where ever it leads has got to be paradise, I mean it has to be some nice place in the tropics if the trip was this long, right?

Just as I had finished forming my thought a put grew in my stomach, a sign my instincts have taught me was a warning of horrible things to come. I sigh to myself and loose myself back into the books I had stolen from the captain, hoping by the time I finish them we'll have arrived wherever this ship was headed.

Three months... Why'd I sign up for this trip again? Oh yeah, because I can't resist the idea of unfound knowledge or missing out on the adventure of the lifetime... Then again I've been on a lot of "adventure of the lifetimes" before. Maybe I should think things through a bit more...

Arg... My leg was killing me again. I dug in my saddlebags for a moment and pulled out a purple potion. It took a quick swig making sure not to drink too much. This stuff was hard to make. I placed it back in my bag relaxing as my leg dulled. That should last me a good day or two.

Not bothering to grab any of my belongings I went topside to look outside. Thank Celestia I don't get seasick.

"Excuse me" I told a pony walking below deck his sword dangling at this side. Who carries there sword around the ship?

I emerged from below to be meet by the smell of saltwater and ocean air. *Sigh* How I wish I was at home right now. I looked out at the sea from the side of the boat watching the waves.

Chronos went to his cabin and entered it. He took his sword and put it in it's sheath and put it in in the corner. He took off his helmet and set it on the bed before walking over to his desk and seeing a message. Chronos took the message and opened it.

-

Chronos had been sending letters to his sweetheart ever since he left

-

Chronos read the letter and set it down. He smiled  and pulled out a quill, ink well, and a scroll. He dipped the quill in the ink and began writing. He wrote about how he was regretting leaving and how much he missed her.

Blackheart was busy reading some tattered journals and such that had been recovered from this strange land. He was in the bowels of the ship and was reading by lanternlight. He had purchased these journals from some adventurers that had come back on this very ship. They had been a grim bunch and had offered only a few words. Blackheart believed if he could gleam any extra information from these journals, it might be vital to his mission of preservation and recovery.

Time seemed to pass by even slower as I read through my pile of books. While I was never really a big reader to being with, these books seemed to be especially boring. I really should have looked at the titles before i snatched them up, all these seem to be about some mythical land filled with strange creatures and supposedly special magic. It seemed like every other cliche setting in some fantasy novel or roleplaying game, though I had to give the author some credit with the way it was written it was rather original. It was written like it was an actual geographical guide with details of landmarks and some short tales of heroes that fought against the darkness on the island, you could almost believe it was an actual place. Though as interesting as it was I could never really get into something like this, even the name alone "uutforskede landomrader" was off putting for me.

I was also starting to feel seasick again, and reading the small print in the book only seemed to make it worse. That or the ship was starting to go over some rougher currents, whatever it was, it was doing numbers to my stomach. The stale air in the cargo bay was also not helping. Against my better judgement I decided it was time to head above deck, I knew around this time some of the other passengers would move about the ship but I was willing to take the risk. It was either that or I get sick everywhere and have to clean it up before anypony noticed.

Even with my nauseated stomach and my terrible sea legs, it was stupidly easy to slip by the other ponies aboard. The only real trouble I came across was this one pony who was parading his sword around thinking like he was some sort of knight. or something. Seriously who waves their weapons around when they are aboard a ship? I mean, somepony could get hurt. While he was taking up practically the hallway I was eventually able to get around him using my invisibility magic, little things like that make me glad I'm a unicorn sometimes. Eventually I was able to get above deck, and that's where everything began to go wrong.

The fresh salty ocean air did not help alleviate my nausea, in fact it seemed to have made things worse for me. I stumbled around for a bit on deck, until knocking into a few barrels and crates that were lying around making a huge ruckus and then proceeded to vomit on the ships deck,I doubt there was a pony aboard who didn't hear that. I rubbed my head in an attempt to dull the pain, so much for staying under the radar....

I looked out at the sea. Magnificent. I could porbelby watch this for hours...

*CRASH*

What was that? I turned around to watch a number of crates and barrels spill about and see ...Vomit come out of thin air? That wasn't normal. I attempted to reach for my sword but found it not there. I'd left it bellow deck. So I did the next best thing.

@

I fly into where the vomit had come from tackling the unknown figure. Anyone I can't see isn't something good.

It happened all in a flash, one moment I'm vomiting all over the deck, the next I have some crazed pegasus tackeling me. Needless to say my magic quickly failed shortly exposing me to the noticeably pissed off pony on top of me. I couldn't muster any strenghth, using my magic in my condition proved to be a terrible choice. I was at the complete mercy of this brute, just my damn luck.

I couldn't tell if it was the potential concussion I had from the pegasus tackeling me or the magical exhaustion or both, but my vision began blur. For a moment it felt like my whole was spinning.

I said to the Pegasus with a weak smile @@Firehearted,  . "I'm sorry to disturb you, I'm just a little sea- ughhh"

The last thing I remembered was vomiting all over the deck once more before blacking out.

Maybe I was a bit hasty in the whole attacking part but too late now. "Why the hell were you invisible then?" And he's gone. I really didn't want to deal with a sick pony today... I tilted his head to the side making sure he didn't choke on his own vomit. After a second of letting the vomit out of his mouth and checking to see if he wasn't dying I threw him a bit hard onto my back. I almost beat him silly so I guess he's mine to take care of.

I carried the sick unicorn below deck letting some poor cabin boy deal with the vomit on the deck. After navigating the ship's bowels I came to my little corner of the ship and gently placed him onto my cot the best I could. From my bag I dug out some ginger just in case for some reason I got seasick. Once he comes to I'll let him eat it.

I sat next to my cot waiting for him to wake up reading a book in old griffon for the sixth time while on the voyage. He'll wake up eventually...

Simply be calm. Bulawayo thought to himself before opening his amber eyes again looking about toward the vast sea. A slight unease came about but he reluctantly dismissed it.

"I already miss you." He simply says resting his head his hooves that have placed upon the side rails.

"Acceptance is apart of all understanding, its almost universally default." He again mutters to himself as if not to care who listens.

He should've been persistent in asking his fellow comrades, no it was far too late for the opportunity.

"Oh well." He again mutters.

Chronos put the quill in the inkwell and folded up the letter. He walked up to the deck and whistled. A pigeon came flying down from the crow's nest and landed on Chronos' back. He tied the letter to the pigeon's leg and whistled again. The pigeon flew up and began flying towards Equestria. Chronos walked to the front of the ship and looked at the land. It was shrouded in fog.  Chronos felt a slight breeze come from the left of him.

Chronos looked over at a zebra, who was resting his head on his hooves. Chronos decided to walked over to him. Chronos had not really talked to anybody since this whole journey started so this could be a start. "What's wrong, you look a little down..." He said

The zebras ears perked up but he did not look in the direction.

"I am fine." He replies simply before letting out a yawn.

"Ready to get off this vessel." He says now looking to the stallion.

"I appreciate your concern though." He adds on, next in his habits he looks next to him. A satchel of vials and potions lay about. Opening the bag he takes glance inside to see if all the contents are still within.

Blackheart had heard a ruckus coming from up above followed by some very unpleasant sounds. He wanted to continue reading, but he was curious as to who the seasick creature was. Blackheart got up from his chair and saw a few small disgusting gobbits of what looked to be somepony's lunch. He followed the small trail, not as repulsed as others would be at the stench. He came across a small corner of the ship where an unconscious unicorn and a pegasus nearby reading a book. "Um.. excuse me, is everything alright here? With that one I am guessing?" He asked in a rather quiet voice, gesturing at the unconscious unicorn.

@@The Shadow Stallion,

"Huh?" I looked up from my book. Who was this? I put my book down in front of me. "Yes, sir everything's alright. Seasickness got to him is all. I found him out cold on the deck" Maybe not 'found' him. "but he seems to be in good health besides that. You know him? I sure don't. If he's your feel free to take him" I doubted this pony knew this one but who knows when you're on a boat full of strangers.

"Sorry, No I er don't know him. I didn't see him come aboard with the passengers so Im guessing he might be part of the crew though." Blackheart said. He glanced down at the book and his eyebrows rose. "You understand the old griffon tongue?" Blackheart asked the surprise evident in his voice. He hadn't met many who could even speak any other old language whether it was the far minotaur tribes of the north to the mysterious desert dwelling ponies in the east.

I smiled. "I'm surprised you can recognize it. Most ponies just think it's chicken scratch" And it was easy to see why. The characters were sharp and were always made up of series of lines. "I spent two years in ruins up in the Griffon Kingdom, not two years straight of course, looking for texts and inscriptions of Old Griffon after griffon scholars refused to teach me it. Eventually I picked up enough to read a few books in Old Griffon and now I can say I'm fluent. I can hardly speak it of course though. I don't have a beak 'n' all so-" And I'm going off again.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to go on like that. I've got a habit of rambling everyone once and a while" I hate it when I do that... "So you don't know him... I hadn't seen him on board either" Maybe cause he was invisible for a reason... Why though?

Blackheart listened intently, perhaps this was a kindred spirit. "I learned in my travels. I spend weeks, months, and sometimes years scouring ruins for any lost artifacts. Took me a long time to figure out some of those old griffon riddletraps. Few burns, scratches, and poison arrows make for good teachers." Blackheart said. "I tend to ramble a lot myself. If I may ask, what is your job and what is your purpose in going to well... where we are all currently going?" Blackheart asked. He had lost interest in the unicorn, whenever history was discussed, Blackheart had a one track mind.

Really now? "Someone knows what it feels like to nearly get killed every other day! I've had my fair share of injures. Broken bones, a few stab wounds, walked in poison joke once, that wasn't fun. I got this here"

I stuck my front left leg out showing a large scar across my leg.

"That one's my worst. Took it with a fight with De Flanko, some pony from Celestia knows where who wanted the same thing I did. I almost bled out then. I still got a limp from the damn thing" Limp indeed.

My job? Do I really want to tell him... I just meet him... I see no harm but I won't give him too much.

"I'm an explorer/archaeologist/soldier-for-hire/peacekeeper/most-wanted. It depends on who you ask. I consider myself an explorer of sorts. I've arguably made the most expeditions into by any one pony. To the big wigs at the Cannterlot Royal Museum I'm a freelance archaeologist. To some Griffon Baron I'm a just a hired sword. To the gangs of Manehatten I'm the one who keeps them out of trouble. To more than one Griffon Baron I'm there worst enemy and want my head on a platter... Yeah, I've done a lot in the past seven years. Where we going? No idea. I just heard 'uncharted lands' and jumped on board.

But enough about me. What do YOU do? You seem to have a history if you tested your mettle in old ruins"

My dreams took me back to the streets of Manehatten outside my broken down childhood home, a small old beat up house in the heart of the slums infamously known as the Hooverville. While it wasn't much to look it, it still stood out amongst the dull, dilapidated buildings, the crude shacks, and the other beaten up houses that littered the area. It was the definition of being a big fish in a small pond, nothing special but it was definitely a step up from living in the streets.

I sat alone on the steps on my front porch all by my lonesome. The sounds of laughter could be heard as a group of foals played in the distance. One of them approached me with, a Pegasus with a blue coat and a solid brown mane.

"Hey, you look all alone, why don't you come play with us?" She spoke with a smile.

"I don't know... I think I'd just get in the way." I said quietly.

"Come on it'll be fun..." The Pegasus grabbed me and practically dragged me along through the familiar streets.

Her smiling face was all I saw, before my dream slowly faded away...

@,

Chronos took a look out on at the ocean "The Captain said it will be an hour, at the least..." He looked at the zebra and said "By the way, I'm Chronos..." Chronos didn't really feel like doing a formal introduction. He held out his hoof for a hoofshake with a slight smile.

Blackheart listened intently to the pegasus's story. "You have a very colorful history, sounds almost like some of the old tales of pony heroes." Blackheart said with a smile. Then Blackheart was questioned about his own history and he was a bit hesitant. Blackheart looked down at the ground. "I come from a long line of Warrior-Librarian ponies. Sworn to find and protect knowledge and ancient artifacts no matter where we find it. Usually I bring these artifacts to libraries or some museum of some sort. Though some knowledge must never fall into the wrong hooves so I give that to Celestia. Not personally mind you, anonymously. Not quite so grand a life as yours, but it is a life I am content with... though I do miss the others...." Blackheart trailed off, a far look in his eyes.

"We've all lost friends" I patted him on the back assuming he had lost those he knew whether through an enemy's sword or a loss of heart.

Blackheart snapped back to the present. "Meet all of who?" Blackheart asked a bit confused. He wasn't sure what the pegasus meant when he asked that. Did he mean he had seen Warrior Librarians before or did he mean the rest of the passengers? Blackheart doubted he meant Warrior Librarians or at least not anyone of Blackheart's lineage. The last Blackheart had seen of his family had been when he fell through the floor in a sand temple that he didn't even know the whereabouts of anymore.

"I am Bulawayo." He says and shakes his hoof in greeting. At least this calmed his home sickness for the while. Perhaps he can meet new companions instead, new beginnings after all make the best.

"You says within the hour we will arrive?" He asks looking back toward the horizon.
