planning Star Wars: The Force consolidated

So this is an idea that's been kicking around in the back of my head for a long while now. For me, the most interesting part of the Star Wars saga has always been the Jedi and Sith. So much so that I've actually meditated and pondered about their respective philosophies. I even made a thread regarding this subject.

(You can check it out, as it is largely the incitement for this idea and it might serve to give some context if your unfamiliar with the depths of either order. http://mlpforums.com/topic/91576-jedi-or-sith/ )

With that being said, it always sort of frustrated me how these two could never actually discuss their viewpoints without it getting lost in the clash of lightsabers. We get hints of this here and there, one admirable thing I like is how few times the terms "good" and "evil" are actually used when Jedi or Sith refer to one another. It's more their respective outlooks and external allegiances that put them at physical odds.

So I thought, why not remove that?

Now, I'm going to commit a cardinal sin here and break the canon, but it serves the purpose of creating a scenario for the RP.

Sometime in 17 ABY, Luke is trying to find out what became of Jedi Knight Jelph Marrianto. His quest eventually leads him to a planet called Kesh. It is there he finds the Lost Tribe of Sith. At first hesitant to even interact with them, Luke finds out these Sith are not quite like the orthodoxy of Sidious and his fallen father. While still brutal, their tribe is a functional meritocracy, and in many ways mirrors the Jedi Order. After finding the remains of the fallen Jedi and cremating them, Luke receives a vision from the Force. It's a crazy idea, but such had served him well in the past.

The Grand Master of the Jedi proposed to the Circle of Lords that both the Jedi and Sith establish a semi-independent colony together. Both orders would still keep their own temples and practices, but they would enter into an alliance with one another and enforce a strict non-aggression policy between their number.

Whether motivated by curiosity, sensing the Jedi would prove better allies than enemies, or some other motivation, the Lost Tribe of Sith agreed.

The planet chosen for this new alliance to settle upon was Felucia. Rich in the Force, and somewhat out of the way from the rest of the Galaxy, it was a natural choice.

Now the Jedi and Sith have both established temples on the jungle planet and train their respective students. While at the same time, smaller towns and outposts have both Padawans and Apprentices sharing drinks and playing Dejarik. Unfortunately it's usually with their respective peers, but for the first time in millennia, Jedi and Sith weren't trying to kill each other on sight. It was a start.

Peace is sometimes harder won than war though. Between dangerous native predators, secretive cults, and criminal syndicates; the fragile peace could already be at risk. It will take the conviction and wisdom of both the Jedi and Sith to hold on to their new position and what they both stand to gain.

Rules:

  • No fighting! Kind of the whole point of this narrative social experiment. If two players truly wish for their characters to end up in a clash of ideologies or circumstance, then it must be cleared with the GM ahead of time to give it the proper context and build up. Rest assured, there is adventure and combat to be had.

  • No Mary Sues. This should hopefully go without saying but your character can't pull Star Destroyers out of the sky like Galen Marek or change the ontology of the Force as it's understood like Revan. By all means get creative with your character, but make them unique by who they are rather than what they can do.

  • Keep it clean. Again, hopefully a no brainer, but keep the language civil if charged even in-character and the romance (if any) light and brief. I mean we all know what happens when Star Wars tries to do traditional romantic banner. Anakin's "sand" speech come to mind? A good standard would be that, if it wouldn't be in Star Wars itself, it shouldn't be here.

  • No godmodding. The reactions of minor NPCs are permissible if done with some reason. Such as a Force choke or mind trick, but more substantial behavior by larger numbers of NPCs will be dictated by the GM. This obviously extends to PCs even more.

  • Less of a rule and more of a suggestion. Think about yourself when creating your character. Try to internalize both the Jedi as well as the Sith and consider both of them; their points and their faults.

Optimally, you play as one of the two major orders. However, there are other Force based organizations that could be petitioned to play a part if enough thought is put into the concept. Nightsisters, Imperial Knights, Jensaarai, Findsmen, or whatever. However you would be mostly acting on your own, outside of your order's protection. In addition, you can play as many non Force-sensitive personnel and adventurers, smugglers, diplomats, droids, etc.

Affiliation (Jedi/Sith): Sith

Rank: Acolyte

Lightsaber combat form(s) (if applicable):

Bio: Born and raised on Corellia to Jedi parents, Vox largely rejected the Jedi taboo of forbidden knowledge, seing it as a burden to progress. Seing more promise in the Sith's ideas of shaping your own destiny, he took up apprenticeship with a Sith Lord on Felucia as an acolyte in order to make something of himself, much to the chagrin of his family. His relationship with his master is a typical of the Sith, heartless, and militaristic. Despite his obediant exterior, Vox has different motives and ideals than his orthodox Sith master.

Name: Seth Tiber

Age: 31

Gender: Male

Species: Human

Affiliation: Ex-royal guard

Rank: N/A (royal guard?)

Specialization (if one is chosen): N/A

Lightsaber combat form(s) (if applicable): N/A

Bio: Being one of the last surviving members of the purge of his people, the royal guard by the name of Seth Tiber has kept himself away from the empire, rebellion, and it's war. He never wished to be part of the empire that killed his other fellow guards, and he rather not join the rebels, as they were the ones to kill his master.

He became a drifter, never holding to one specific location for too long, paranoid that he was still being hunted by his fallen brother that had betrayed the others. However, he came across the Felucia system during a conversation with a trader who he was buying a ship from. Hearing about how the planet was the founding world of both the Sith and jedi peace, he assumed it would be a rather nice place to take residence. AS he was of little importance, his presence would barely be noticed under the heat the Jedi and Sith would create there.
