general questions Do I have a chance to be a moderator?

These is something I been thinking about, like, how do moderators become moderators, and if I have any chance of being one. I am not asking to be one, just curious about the topic. Well, if I ever become a moderator, I will try to be a good one. I won't let the power go to my head. I will try to keep the forums civilized, and well, deal with any troublemakers, even if they are a friend. Of course, if a friend of mine is causing any kind of trouble, I will feel bad about giving them a warning or whatever is necessary, but if it is necessary, I will do  whatever is necessary. I just want to be treated like anyone else no matter what happens. Being moderator might be fun, but I am sure it is stressful for the most part, and I don't know if I want the stress. I am happy just being a member, I love this place. Everyone is awesome, and I feel very welcomed here.

For the most part, I've been told that asking about it even just out of curiosity and not actually asking to be a mod severely lowers your chances of ever being picked.

 

On the topic of how it works it's like a job. It is a job. The forum might become less fun for you cause you have to be constantly on the lookout for trouble in your section. Friend of mine was a global mod on another forum and he eventually couldn't take it. He would get reports from a section he had no interest in at all and didn't know how to handle, all the time, and it just got to him eventually.

I figured as much. You know, I will probably just stick with being a member. A member has it easy, none of the power, but none of the stress.

This. As a former mod on another site, it is NOT something you want. Being a mod is stressful, and you have to deal with almost everyone's crap. Not only do you have to be the mediator, but you also have to deal with people when they think you're being unfair... which is every time you do something.

Not only do you have to be the mediator, but you also have to deal with people when they think you're being unfair... which is every time you do something.

Now, that said, there's a part that I forgot to mention. It can also be rather rewarding, in that you have significant influence over what goes on with the site, and you are given tools that you can use to assist members with things, should they ask for it. All in all, it has its ups and downs.

Of course you can. If we had to be moderators to be good members, then this would be a very, very bad forum filled with awful people.
