Ability to post anonymously on Life Advice?

Is it possible to be able to make it so we can choose to post anonymously to the Life Advice section?

 

While the internet is a great way to seek advice as is because we can hide behind a screen, our questions are always linked to our profiles. Sometimes the questions we want to know are personal, sometimes we need to talk about secrets that we hold to vent about them, and sometimes we need to tell a personal story as an example in order to give someone else good advice.

 

The only problem is, people could easily use the anonymous function to post troll questions and responses. Perhaps mods and admins would see the poster as anonymous, but would have an option to see the poster for who they really are by clicking something next to the post? Or maybe a report button that could lift the veil should enough people mark it as a troll question/response and punishments for doing so including suspension or banning from the anonymous function?

 

I don't know, I'm mostly just spitballing here, but I'm sure many other ponies out there have questions they want to ask, but are too nervous to under their name as well.

On the surface, that isn't a horrible idea. Obviously as you pointed out moderation would require us to view the poster, even if hidden from other members. The option to post anonymously does have it's obvious upside. The custom coding would be required, so I don't see a readily available implementation, and I may have missed a detail that may make it problematic. Either way, good general suggestion.

If I'm not mistaken, this topic exists and everything looked like it could be implemented with even a thingy on IPB's website that allowed for all the necessities you mentioned. Nothing ever came of it, though
