Could Twilight be the Element of Faith?

I thought about something.

 

Instead of Twilights element being magic, it seems to be like it is faith.

She's always struggling with it in times of a lot of climatic in the show such as the characters like Discord or Tirek cause chaos.

She never seems to struggle with her element "magic" like the others struggle with their element.

She's always in a situation that she needs to believe and have faith. It seems more this is her element and what it really is.

 

Also, when they were facing Nightmare Moon, the elements didn't work till she had faith and believed that she will succeed. The spark she had was when she realized her friends were the elements and that hers was faith. She had faith in the truth of the outcome, knowing that she was meant to succeed.

 

That was just a made up idea I have.. 

 

I was thinking for a long time to make a topic to see what others think of the idea if this may make sense, or if it didn't match up so it could be disproved.  

 

I want an answer, If it be true or not!

It makes sense, but with the whole show being centered around the magic of friendship they kind of needed the main element to be magic...

I don't like it at all, nor think it makes sense... and yet you kinda do make a good point.

Thing is, I believe a pony's element should NOT be something they struggle with often. It should be something they can see the way through while OTHER ponies struggle with it. Remember when Rarity offered the sea serpent her tail? She didn't struggle with that, she was the one pony that saw the value in being generous in that particular situation.

 

And yet every time the elements are brought up nowadays, it's something the pony struggles with while every other character knows the answer. It's awful, and makes no sense, and makes these ponies, the spirits of the elements of harmony, out to be kind of bad people, not ones we should look up to.

 

Twilight, concerning trust, falls squarely in the second description, especially concerning Celestia. Whether that means it'd be a good element for her, or means the very opposite, depends on your interpretation.

Magic = Leadership  (at least by Celestia, near the end of Magical Mystery Cure)

Faith is just unreasonable Trust.

 

Trust is the only thing necessary for plain simple Leadership.

Then, Twilight is the one bringing together the "sense of communal unity" from common values (superstition), with the "necessity of meaning" (reason) from the scientific method [in other words: Friendship & Destiny ]

 

"From all of us together, together we're friends. With the marks of our destinies made one, there is magic without end!"

 

"Helping each others, together as friends. Each of their destinies they forge, into one.  In Friendship , Forever."

No, when she first obtains the elements of harmony (see spoiler for some screenshots; it's still one of my favourite scenes in the whole series) she has every confidence that she can use them to stop Luna, but they fail her.
