"Anyway I can help. I was taught to always pay a kindness back. And you got'ta eat more then that. I would think that they would give ya enough food to make at least a few decent meals. But guess most of the money is going into THE SHIP but not into its crew." He shrugged.

I'm not sure of what you mean by a few decent meals. It's the most popular one in our nation. I can't think of any reason one wouldn't want a breakfast item that's practically a desert available and accepted as an anytime of the day meal. Now we eat plenty of other things, but we figured the most common, and easily stored for long time thing, that's not to mention very affordable, would satisfy us. It also allows us to experience a moment of being back home for a few moments since our personal belongings mostly consists of various jams, syrups, and sauces made from family recipes. The ship actually costs nothing. We don't have a tax system set up for citizens, so the government takes a certain amount of our industries earnings to keep things going."

The ship reached the busy harbour of Perlin where the queen was escorted to a luxurious carraige. Behind it a guard of 20 mounted soldiers waited. A stallion in fancy clothing kisses the queens hoof as a sign of repect. 

"I am Duke Uxbridge and i shall be taking care of your well-being" he shows the queen to her carraige.

 

After a stride through the busy streets the carriage eventually stopped in front of the Imperial palace. She was taken to a room where she was politely asked to wait a bit.

Queen Salazaria took note at how large their nation was, a lot had happened but she kept calm, she moved her head around to scan the room to become familiar with her surroundings, compensating for a lack of an eye, she readjusted her headdress a bit while she waiting, she was uneasy

After a 15min wait, the duke came to escort the queen to the throne room and acted as respectful as he could. Two large gates opened to reveal the throne room. Rows of trumpeteers sounded their instruments. a announcer spoke out loud. 

"From the Southern Islands, Queen.... Salazaria of Cidonia."

The trumpets played again. The King was sitting on his throne. He stood up and walked to a giant table where a long document layed. He picked up a red feather and signed, then stepped aside waiting for the queen to do her stuff.

 

 

Meanwhile, emigration campaigns were on the roll to "civilize" this new land discoverd and ponies flocked in the newly aquired port, bringing their belongings with them. Ex-Cidonians were moved to temporary houses while the port-city was destroyed in order to be rebuilt in a more... efficent way. Cargo ships were bringing ieces of buildings that were then stuck together once on land, aiming to transform the port into a modern district.

The Queen looked over the document, skimming it, then sighed and signed, she continued scanning the room before and after she signed, looking for any potential assassins, she felt extremely uneasy, wishing she had snuck a weapon with her just so she could feel a little better, she looked around, however her head movements were slightly noticeable to anyone trained to see some one scanning a room, to anyone else it just looked like she was admiring the scenery

The king noticed the queens search, realizing she was not just looking at the palace's decorations. He whisphered,

"There is nothing to be searching for, if i wished something to happen, you wouldn'tve left that room."

He then spoke louder, 

"I trust you have already met my cousin, the Duke of Uxbridge. May i propose that he takes residence at your court as an advisor. A brilliant strategist i might add."

"Ah yes, I have met him, he seems charming, sure he can be an adviser" she replied "However I would like to know your plans for the port of Clexto, Aside from the capital, that port is one of my important ones, so Id like to know what you intend to do with it." She added

"We intend to turn it into a commercial center for the Southern Trade Routes. We are allowing your merchants in, so you should profit from it as well. We will make it look more..." he looked around, "like this."

 

He rolled up the document and handed it to an earth pony servant.

 

"From now, you are free to leave, i understand you are fond of that ship we took in to repair, so you may return with it."

"Thank you, I shall take my leave then, Inform the duke that he has been selected as my adviser and that I will be heading to the port to board my ship" She turned around to exit the palace then stopped "By the way which way is out of here? Is there like a guide somewhere, I dont want to get lost in all of these rooms"

"Escort the queen to her vessel."

 

A unicorn and Earth Pony servant bowed and escorted the queen out. She was taken back to the  carriage . She was sent to the trireme , which was repaired and polished.

A small crew was on the ship waiting for the queen. The new advisors was waiting there as well.

The queen got aboard the ship "Set sail for Cidonia!" 

 

After a few day journey they arrived at Clepto the capital of Cidonia, exiting the ship she said aloud "Ah, its good to be back home!" she turned to the Duke of Uxbridge "When we arrive at the palace I will let you get antiquated with the rest of the advisers, I have an importaint matter I must attend to...A long relaxing bath...come this way" she leads him to the palace and brings him to the adviser room, it was a decently sized room with a large table in the middle, there were 5 advisers, 2 of them were at the table  playing some kind of card game that involved counting small gems, one  was reading a scroll and the other two  looking out a window

"Advisers this is the new adviser the foreigners insisted that I have, he is the Duke of...Uxbridge, yeah Uxbridge! Im going to let you get aquanted while I take care of some important business!" she walked off

 

One of the advisers looked at him "Alright, lets clear up any miscommunications, You tell me what you think you will do here, and I will tell you how close to the truth you are"

"I will do what i am instructed to do. I am here to ensure stable relations between our nations. Although i would prefer having to do something related to the millitary."

 

He took off his hat and layed it on the table.

 

"May i have the honor of knowing who you are?"

"We are the committee of advisers, I am hommit, the social and economic adviser" he points to the 2 playing cards "Those are Jept the archaeological adviser and Roxin the science and technology adviser" He points to the one reading the scroll "Thats the religious adviser High Priest Klux" He then points to the other pony looking out the window "And she is Claria our current military adviser, if you want military duties talk to her, what we do around were is help manage things and keep things running smoothly, however as far as the Queen goes, none of us have any real power or influence, we can only merely suggest things to her, and its up to her if she actually goes with it.  For example the living statues you saw? I informed her of bare-back unrest and suggested that maybe we do something to make them feel better, so she went across the land looking for young attractive bare back mares, cleaned them up and put them on display in the cities to "show off their beauty" so yeah"

 

Jept spoke up "Also watch what you say about her, she knows everything that happens in the kingdom, and I mean everything! Rumor is that divine light entered her when she lost her eye and it bestowed the power to see and know all in her kingdom"

 

Claria chuckled "theres no way thats true, it must be like spies or something, my brother was stabbed in the eye once, and he didnt gain any powers"

 

Klux replied "well your brother was not selected by the goddess to rule the land" Claria sighed "fair enough"

The Duke couldnt help to giggle when he heard "science and research". 

 

"well... this looks like a very... lively office" who might your foreign relations agviser be then. As i understand you are going through a lot of exploration... and someone has to take care of that..."

Hommit sighed "thats me, since foreign relations falls under a social function, although the Queen has been interested in representing herself, which we never know will turn out well, shes a little...out there im sure youve noticed"

 

 

 

Roxin piped up "hey dont laugh at my job! I'll have you know that recently developed a liquid that can catch on fire!"

"Interesting... we have weaponized one of those.... it burns in water and can only be estinguished with vinegar and sand... and urine... but anyway. You must understand me... doubting the scientific output of this place. I mean we were at this stage about 2000 years ago..."

Roxin sighed "well weve been isolated for the longest time so weve never needed to keep up with the rest of the world, but now that contact has been made with other civilizations, my work load has been upped dramatically!"

 

Hommit talked again "isolation has caused us to be rather behind as far as all of that goes, since people seemed to be happy with how things are, but maybe that will change, but anyway is there any further questions?"

With the signing of he treaty, the goverment took no time in trying to bring over more poies to their side. A constant stream of supplies, food and good clothes strted being dispered to the northern eart-pony farms. Fertilizer was also widely distributed but its recepie remained a secret. Tarmac and cement foundations strted appearing in the port. The temporary housing given to its residents mainly consisted of "portable" houses. (Some kind of wooden cravan =p)

Hommit stepped outside the office "Yes, theres one near the end of the hall" pointed down the hallway, his eye then caught something and he looked out the window and saw the treasure fleet leaving the harbor "huh...she moves fast" after looking at the ornate ships leave he walked back into the office and sat at the table

 

In the hall there were 2 living statues standing facing eachother in the middle of the hall, there was also a guard patrolling up and down the hall

The duke left and entered the toilet, where he locked himself. He blew a whistle that had to high of a frequency to be heard by the pony ear. A pigeon appeared. he wrote a small letter and stuck it to its leg.

 

it read:

"As far as i can tell, they are willing to work with us. They dont seem to be plotting to get rid of us anytime soon."

 

He sends out the pigeon, waits a few minutes then returns, acting like nothing has happened. He stops by the living statues and and waved a hoof in front of their face.

 

"Hello?"

no answer...

'God damn... theyre terrified" he mumbled to himself

 a few minutes pass and then a pony enters the room "Ive got reports!" he started handing off various things to each of the advisers then left

 

Roxin laughed "ha ha finally, i get ahold of some of this stuff" he was handed a small sack of fertilizer, he took it and walked out of the room

 

Jept was handed a scroll "Hmm, ruins around Clexto are apparently being occupied by foreign soldiers"

 

Klux read the scroll that was handed to him "Foreign citizens in Clexto are defiling and demolishing shrines to the sun goddess, and other shrines in the country side are being dismantled"

 

Claria sighed and rolled her eyes reading her scroll "Cidonian soldiers and foreign soldiers are getting into small fights, no surprise" 

 

Hommit read his scroll "Life in the area in and around Clexto is considered bad and ponies are unhappy, the citizenry being pushed around by the foreigners and being forced to live in what equates to shacks, nobility complains of their servants being taken away, leading to an extreme negative reaction from their handlers" he sighed "Well, pack your things, we leave for Clexto in the morning, except Roxin, he seemed like he had some work to do"

Giant steam-peddled barge convoys stretching for miles were carying buildings. The trmac had hardened and buildings were literarly craned up and cemented into their places. Electrical lights, powered by copper-zinc batteries, were set up the streets while the streets were being cleared and painted. This port was actually a race between two rivaling construction companies that promised a quick development of the area. One was the national-owned P.C.A (Ponssian Construction Agency) while the other was a private owned company. The port had been split in two, each half had its own company working on it, however the buildings and streets had to match. workers flocked the streets using steam powered ships to pull stone buildings in their position. The other reeason for the rapid movement ws to show off Ponssia's great manpower and development ability. Although not shown, the goverment had put a lot of pressure and resources into the plan. The layout was pretty clear, the port being re-constructed into a semicircle. The coast (the diameter) was going to be populated by merchants while the outer ring was going to be populated by the middle-class and labourers while the rich, nobility and goverment were going to rest in the center. With the power of the newly developed electric lights, ponies worked at night as well. Some ponies were going to be allocated to their new homes the following morning. A total of 7 buildings were transported in the first day of development.

The next day, the group of advisers arrive outside the city, they were pulled by luxury chariot 

 

Hommit spoke "alright lets see if we cant fix this problem, Duke you come with me, I feel i might need you, you might have a better chance explaining to your people why what they are doing is negatively affecting the citizenry"

The treasure fleet arrived at the shore of Pegasonia, the brightly painted ships glittering in the sun, the main ship was a large barge that looked like it had a small palace built ontop of it

All of the city's buildings except a few historical monumaents and important worshipping sites had been leveled to the ground. A clear layout of the city could be seen in the cities network of freshly-made tarmac roads that outlined the future city. All the roas had battery-powered street lamps spaced at every 3m on bothe sides of the road and a 2m wide sidewalk margined the roads. A few building were standing and had already been allocated with citizens and many more seemed to be under construction or being shipped from overseas. A large area west of the city had been allocated to the temporary housing of the citizens where pegasi, earth ponies, unicorns and ponssian soldiers alike were 'conforted'. Supplies were constantly given to the ponies living in those houses. The supplies given would probably be seen as a bountiful sum for many of the poorer citizens but would probably seem as the minimum necessity for the nobility.
