The Duke, wearing his millitary uniform put on his feathered hat. As he walked down the corridor and went past Cyrillia he smiled and lifted his hat a bit. He got on his horse beside Hommits manticore, making him a lot taller, his head being about a third of a pony above Hommits. He elegantly put on a pair of white gloves, his Ponssian guards mounted as well behind him on their own horses. They were as usual, very professional looking.

 "And I thought the queen was the only one who decided to over dress on visits to other cities" they started off, a few Cidonian guards  flew along side Hommit as they traveled "when we get back to the capital Ill set you up with some trainers so you can learn how to ride a manticore, because the queen will insist that you travel everywhere on manticore, shes...a little out there...and knowing her, she wont like your mount"

"Youll be surprised, the queen is...unpredictable ever since she lost her eye in an assassination attempt shes been a little, well lets just say crazy, she drags us everywhere, she once rounded all of us up on our manticores and took us out in the middle of the desert just to look at a funny looking stick she found, and dont even ask me why she was in the desert to begin with because i dont know"

Meanwhile in Hoofsburg, the main plaza now had a wooden platform built. On it was a rectangular wooden frame with a blade on top, besides it a pony dressed in black and a priest. A large crowd had gathered around it. In the police station, the priest had been 'repaired' and transfered to the station. A police officer showed him the guillotine,

"Oh no, the patch is not an accessory, in an assassination attempt, she was stabbed in the eye, however what the assassin didnt realize was the blade he chose was too short and wasnt long enough to stab her brain, or maybe it was and it just messed her up mentally i dont know, but she was able to recover and slit his throat with his own knife, but i dont think she'd care for a fake eye, shes gotten rather fond of the look, and has claimed that Lixin uses her missing eye to show her everything that happens in the kingdom, calls it her all seeing eye, tells that to ponies to keep them in line, in reality its a large complex network of spies an agents, that are all over the kingdom that only report to her, she knows everything that happens in the palace, and a general idea of events happening in the entire kingdom, it helped stop all the assassination attempts."

 

Klux was on the platform, glaring at the priest , the priest looked at the contraption "what even is that, why not just throw me to the manticores, seems easier"

"Well... Back home ... We dont need a spy network... We have soldiers and police guarding the streets... Nobody dares think of anything."

 

The priest was surprised at the action but the executioner steps up,

"You pull the rope, blade come down, head falls off. Now if you please step down from the platform."

A cart started moving throught the crowd, in it was the cidonian preist. The Ponssian crowd burst into hatred.

"Criminal!" "Murderer!" "Satanist!" And other hateful insults. The police on sight was doing its best to hold the crowd from reaching the cart. He was tied up and placed on his belly on the guillotine. His neck was locked on by the shack and a basket was placed in front of him. The Ponssian priest stepped up, signaled a cross on his face with his hoof and said a small prayer.

The advisers got to Hoofsberg "well...this place has certainly expanded since the last time we were here...come on lets go" they moved into the city and came across the execution "Ah I see you also preform public executions, though normally the prisoners have a fighting chance in the ring" 

 

Klux glared angerly at the priest "The last thing you will know is you failed Lixin with your actions and she smites your soul to forever wander the desert alone!"

"I wonder what he did... Public executions are usually rare and only carried on at public demand... Meaning he mustve made a big crime to anger the public."

 

The priest finished the prayer and moved away, the executioner stepped forward and pulled the rope, the blade fell, a quick thud was heard and the head fell in the basket. The executioner grabbed the head and lift it up,

"Behold, the head of a criminal!"

He held it up a few seconds and the crowd cheered. Six monks carrying a cheap coffin came up, the head and the body were thrown in and they took it away. As two janitors came to clean the platform, the crowd started disipating.

"Klux is there on the platform, maybe he knows, they continued to the platform,  "Kulx!" Klux saw hommit approaching on the manticore,  its size filling up a good portion of the street "What brings you here?" Hommit  replied "Well we have some interesting reports that we need to investigate, what did that criminal do?"

 

Klux sighed "He was a cidonian priest, i striped him of that title when i learned his deed, he unblessed one of the holy building of the Ponissians, the spirits killed about 7 ponies that were inside the church, even though unblessing is the highest crime a priest can do and may only be preformed if completely necessary, not out of petty rage"

 

Hommit titled his head "What made him so upset that he would do such a thing"

 

"Well, I opened up a small little operation to try to bring some of the ponissians into a following of Lixin, and started teaching Ponissian Unicorns how to preform magic, and it was going great for a time, they formed a little cult, even had books written, but then i found a box of those books washed up on the coast and i heard that members of the cult started disappearing, im performing my own investigation on this and ive been harboring cult members in my own domicile for their protection, but this one took matters into his own hands"

 

Hommit shook his head "well...good luck with your investigation, we have our own stuff to take care of, a noble here is using more money than i thought possible, and some of the Ponissian nobles seem to have a problem with wings"

Most of the Ponssians were terrified at the sight of the manticore. Surely such a wild beast belonged in a zoo and not to roam freely on the streets. Almost everybody kept their distance.

 

"I could ask around and see if the officials know anything about this" the duke added.

(Should i control the noble?)

 

"Well of course... The last such creature on our lands was hunted into extinction over 2000 years ago. They should be allowed to roam on the roads like this."

Hommit, unaware of city infrastructure, was walking his manticore on the middle of the road, on the tram tracks. A high speed tram, pulled by four galloping horses came running towards the manticore. When the driver saw the manticore, he pulled the leash, the horses started braking and the driver pulled the wheel brakes. The tram stopped before hitting the manticore with a rough stop, almost turning over, giving the passengers a fright.

The manticore roared and got in a battle stance "woah! hold it now" he tugged its mane, the manticore snorted, and  they continued on "well...that was something, i was not expecting that, the Ponissian nobles house should be around here somewhere" he was still going through a bit of an adrenaline rush from almost getting hit and the possibility of the manticore completely destroying the tram "I think its that one" pointing to a mansion

The passengers looked as the manticore walked by. The horses had to rest from the effort before continuing.

"You might want to stay of the metal tracks."

They got to the mansions gate, the guards opened it, recognizing the duke.

The nobleman stepped up. After a questioning, it seemed that Pegasi had ruined the plantation he had on the outskirts of town. Nevertheless when the police was called, he was fined heavily for verbal plotting and received a warning. 100 acres of his land were also confiscated.

"They are now citizens, whether you like it or not, and they shall be treated accordingly." The duke ended as they left the mansion, he turned to Hommit, "he has been punished according to the law. Any remarks or concerns?"

"Genocide seems extreme for this kind of thing, but as for our next location, I don't think we have to look far" he points to the distance large scaffolding was around a nobles house, clearly it was a huge ambition, it was easily seen in the skyline, several ponies flying around it constructing it

"Well, that's what we are here to find out" they head of to the building, the noble was hovering outside overseeing it's construction, Hommit spoke "we are advisers to the queen and would like to speak with you" the noble flew down "how may I help?" Hommit looked at him "you can explain why so many funds are being dumped into this?" The noble chuckled "ah you see, I feel the ponies on the eastern side of the city deserve their own monument, you see, that dastardly smog that bellows from the factories blocks the view of the monument in the western harbor"

"Drop anchor, lower sails, team of six follow me, the rest of you remain at your post and break out a keg for yourselves!" he shouted to the crew whom along with him all wore navy blue uniforms. They immediately did so as the captain flew up with six others and then glided smoothly across the top of the water up to the treasure fleet and landing ever so lightly onboard. "Beg my pardon m'lady, but we have yet to exchange names and such. I am Captain Schnell Silber. By the looks of you, you must be royalty, or worthy of that stock." he said still smiling. After all he had plenty to smile about. Being the first to make initial contact with foreigners, which was interesting on it its own, while leaving a positive lasting impression meant almost assured future success for him and his kin. "Our leader, the Kaiser, is currently off elsewhere, but I'm sure he'd be most pleased to meet you which of course can be arranged as soon as he is through with his business."

Malachi gave a sly smile. "Well from the letter I got from Sunny she said she kicked about five your troops backsides.  But she also said that she didn't stand a chance against one of the instructors. Mostly because he used a sword and she's mainly a hoof to hoof fighter. 

 

Now I'm not saying either one is better then the other. All I'm saying we can picked up a few things from one another. How about my general goes to your land and your general teaches him a thing or two. And then he can teach what he learned to my troops."

He then looked towards Magnum and took his glass while standing up. "Let me get you another. Shear one drink with a Don you're friends for a moment shear two and you're friends for life." He smiled as he head over to the bar. "And I don't mind at all of you supervising. We wouldn't want to muck anything up. Better have exports guide us though it. Also, I got a letter from Flits saying he's going to stay in your land for a week or two to get a feel for it. 

 

And like Sunny he's a rather good fighter. One the best. But he gets a little cocky sometimes. I heard you're troops are very skilled as well. So would you mind allowing him to have bout with a few of your troops or instructors? He might learn something while having a little fun. Then Highlanders love a good fight. Same for the lowlanders ((Irish)),  like my general  of combat."  

 

He chuckles as he came back with the drinks. "If you haven't caught onto it yet, pretty much everyone in Quinacta loves to fight.  Most of the competitions we have are mainly ones about fighting. Boxing, wrestling, various martial arts,  melee weapons you name it. I even one a few myself." He laughed before taking drink.

"As much as I love a good fight, I can't allow anypony who isn't specifically a part of our military on our bases, and fighting outside of them for anything besides the defence of the nation is not permitted. Plus I wouldn't want to return him to you in a stretcher. Honor in hoof to hoof combat, is not something we teach. However, if he registered for a fencing course, he would be allowed to participate in that by competing."

"As you wish your majesty." He says, giddy with excitment over having a cultural experience of his own. But he was not nearly prepared for what he saw. "Such riches!" he exclaimed upon entry. "Never have I layed eyes on wealth so concentrated and magnificiently displayed as this. Surely your vaults run deeper than any chasm known to afford to express grandeur of this scale as comfort on a seaworthy vessel!" Their mouths hung open in awe of the unaccustomed scene, taking in the sights and sounds of it all. "My mind fails to grasp what I see. I can only describe it as being glorious beyond comprehension."
