"You are now under Ponssian law and will be dealt by accordingly," he called at the policemen by the door, "take them!" They were also loaded in the carriage. Three of the policeponies got on the carriage, two on the driver seats and one on the back while the other two rode separate horses, guarding the carriage. They headed for the police station where they would be sentenced

 

"Im a foreigner, and we are seen as the invaders. It is not unusual for a defeated population to look bad towards the victors. However they must be kept in check. Especially after wars, which i saw plenty. Now, during the ceasefire, peace is at its weakest, the smallest mistake from a angry crowd may lead to the ignition of a far bloodier conflict." He answered.

"Well, one way to help that image is if you participate with the populous, do something to make them like you better, even just showing up at a shrine during service would go along way, also those guards you bring with you dont help your appearance, I can get you some Cidonian guards, i have the money to over pay them, the reason they didnt take your offer is because they felt it would be bad for future busness, not like your in any real danger anyway, those ponies in the crowds know that if they harmed you they would get thrown to the manticores" Hommit told the Duke

 

The Cidonian Nobles of Hoofsberg entered the government building, and spoke with the secretary "we would like to have a meeting with the mayor"

After about one hour the silence was over and the city sprung back into action, everybody continuing with their everyday life. Besides the actual spiritual motive the church also did this to impress the Cidonians with the strength of the faith of Ponssians. They also wished to show them how much respect they gave for the death of a few ponies, hoping to convince some that the 'true faith' was the way to go.

 

"I really don't have too much spare time."

One of the Ponssian guards walks in front of the open door and down the hallway, pushing a trolley of stacks of papers,

"As you may see, it seems somebody is making sure i dont have much time to leave my office. Coffee, a special drink, is the only thing thats keeping me going now."

 

The secretary typed something and the mayor came out to meet the nobles with a sigh,

"Yes... What is it this time?"

Hommit looked at all the paper that was brought to him "What is even the purpose of all of this? I dont even get this many reports in 5 months!"

 

A sack of gold coins was dropped infront of the mayor "we as a collective would like to purchase the city" behind the nobles was a servant, levitating several sacks of gold, the noble continued "We are ready to pay top dollar"

The mayor was surprised,

"I am sorry... But no matter how much id love to leave this place this city is owned by His Majesties government. This could be easily seen as bribe and treason," He rubbed his neck, "and id like to keep my head, thank you very much."

 

"Oh complaints, economics, reports and whatever else is sent this way i have no idea... Im sure i got a bill for the purchase of a new... Milk bath?"

One of the  nobles spoke up "I own a body guard service, I can help you disappear down river" another sack of coins was dropped infront of him

 

Hommit was confused "A...what? all of these reports your getting seem rather...well...pointless, if youd like i ask for a covert investigation to find the origin and the reason for all of this"

"I dont think you know how things work back home. The moment they realize anything happened, theyll send in a whole invasion. And im not talking about the bombardment fleet, that was nothing. We have more soldiers than your entire population! They will take over the entire country and do their bidding, for a single tiny (the irony of it being 1/2 of ur capital) city. I must refuse. For the good of those living here."

 

"Well it would be nice to have time to sleep... Haven't closed an eye for 5 days now."

The nobles sighed, one spoke up, "how about we have a...business arrangement, one of us slips you some money and you make a change, for example, we pay you this" another sack was placed in front of him "and you remove some building and in its place, build a stadium"

 

Hommit responded "I will order the investigation, and if you ever need it" he nooded in a direction, and a earth pony servant, one of the former living statues walked in and offered a plate of leaves "These leaves have very powerful sleeping properties"

"But there are plenty of empty sites for buildings to be erected. No need to demolish anything, i could easily make them available for you."

 

"Oh no need for that, the moment ill hit a pillow... Ill stay there for a while."

 

Far in the west of a city, lies a secret site built into the mountain, away from public view. It was a massive prison. The police carriage enters the courtyard and the priest is violently taken by guards for torture while the assistants are temporarily locked in prison cells.

"Yes, but my problem is they are on the outskirts of the town, one right in the heart of the city would provide quicker access to it and plenty of entertainment, I bet most of the citizenry havent even seen a manticore before, i bet it would make my fellow pegasi much better if they had familiar entertainment to keep them occupied, ive heard that theyve been planning something drastic...not violent but...drastic"

 

Hommit looked around "Well, i will start the investigation see what turns up, in the mean time, keep her as company" pointing at living statue who provided the leaves "maybe something nice to look at will help you get through the day" the mare smiled, and hommit left the room

 

The priest chuckled "ah, so is this where all the ponissian converts and new magic users disappeared to"

I don't doubt that you are a durable brick in your nation's wall, Mr.McCullen, but if they're not all produced by the same manufacturer, you might have some issues with alignment, and the the integrity of the structure. You'll have holes in your wall where should not be any, and bricks that can't handle the weight of the others." She continued making dinner, and had some of the older children help her as well.

 

Meanwhile in Quinacta, the Kaiser ordered the fireworks to be ceased when a pegasus came into sight. Upon explanation, he followed him.

"Im sorry... But such unethical entertainment has been outlawed for years. We have operas, circuses and races. Fights have been outlawed for ove 400 years. The sentence for organizing something like that is prison."

 

The guard hits him with a baton on the head till he bleeds,

"No! It is where criminals like you end!"

He turns to the guard by him,

"Prepare the rack!"

"You know, not all events involving manticores involves them in comabt, we do have manticore races as well, but im sure other forms of entertainment is possible to fit in a large stadium"

 

The priest laughed "This is too rich...knowing your church, they would of done the same thing in my position!"

 

The living statue sat beside the Duke of Uxibridge, smiling looking at the papers infront of him

"Maybe you weren't aware... But in the eastern center, a stadium is already going up... It should be a oval of 200 on 100 meter... Should for 15000 ponies when done, im sure you could hire it when done."

 

The guard tides his front and back hooves to the rack and the other guard started turning a lever, slowly pulling the priests hooves, stretching all his bones and joints. This would cause unbelievable pain.

"You know nothing of out church. And for your information, i dont believe in god, meaning a can get away with anything without fear of an afterlife!"

He whips the priest to add to the alreay horrendous pain.

 

The duke looks at the earth pony,

"What is so amusing?"

"hmm, very well, we will return when we have another arrangement to make, but a word of advice "keep your church in check, the ponies around here dont like it when their sun goddess is messed with, as im sure you heard of the other day" the nobles took their money and left

 

the priest screamed in pain "Is this how you treat an old withered pony?"

 

The earth pony stammered, a little unsure "A-Am I allowed to talk?"

"The church is an independent institution. There is nothing anyone can do about them. And i should be more worried about your followers. There are many fanatics out there."

 

"No this is how we treat criminals, another!"

The other guard turned the wheel again and a small crackling sound could be heard.

"Now, do you confess your crimes?"

 

The duke smiled,

"Why of course, darling."

"Hmm yes, a crazy lot religious types are" the nobles left

 

"THE ONLY CRIMINALS I SEE ARE YOU! YOU WINGLESS BASTARDS!" the priest yelled

 

The earth pony smiled "I was just looking at the papers you were looking at" she was extremely well groomed, her fur was neatly trimmed, and mane straightened out and black like every single Cidonians mane was. she was also wearing an eyelinger that was stylized, like eye symbol on the queens eye patch and the sails of ships and the flag of the nation

The guards stopped for a bit, a third one stepped in the room,

"What are you doing to the old guy? Tie him down now!"

The guards did as they were told and the third took the priest calming him with a kind tone.

"Now now... How about a nice bath to clean you up. You two prepare the tub."

The two giggled and the priest was placed in a nice white bath. Warm milk and honey was poured on him. In the same, nice welcoming tone the third guard asked,

"Now how about something to eat."

As he walked away to grab a bowl the other two guards immediately tied the priests hoofs on the tub. The guard returned with a bowl but with a different face and tone,

"Something to eat for our babies here!"

He poured the bowl, covering the priest in worms, larvae and bugs.

"Bon appetite. Enjoy your night" he said with a laugh as he left the room. The insects were to slowly eat parts of him over the night."

 

"Now come on, why are you afraid of? And whats nice about all those papers. Trust me... Im not smiling at them when i have to sign them." The duke tried to joke.

the priest yelled in pain "Dont think youll get away this, the queens all seeing eye knows all that happens in the kingdom!"

 

"Oh im not scared...its just im not supposed to talk when im the job..I just wanted to see what you do all day, you must be interested in it, it doesnt look as hard as farm work"

"Scream all you want all man nobody can hear you. Also you are not in your queens kingdom." A guard laughed as he shut the door, leaving him in drakness.

 

"Interested in reading and signing 460 papers per day... And not sleeping for days... Id prefer farming... A bit more active. "He cracks his spine a bit, "oh that chairs killing me. If you dont mind me asking, do you have a name?"

 "Aye, fair point, ma'am. But that's way we have breaks strong enough to help with the wight on others. Sure, our wall is built with many kinds of breaks, some small, some large. But we are still strong enough to keep our wall strong. And holes ain't really a bad thing. It just lets the light in, plus there's room for other breaks to be placed in them to make our wall even stronger. We even have a few stones.

 

And if the breaks are strong enough to build a wall, then that must mean that they can handle wherever is thrown at it, am I right?" He said with a smirk as he kept at it.

The head Don made good time leading the two leaders to the building where the meeting will take place.  Each one of then started drawing bigger crowds, some even stop what they were doing to watched the leaders like they were exotic beings never seen before. And to them, they were. 

 

After a bit of a walk they made it to the doors of the Dons meeting room. The head Don opened the doors for the king on one side of the room, while the Kaiser's guide opened them for him on the other side. The inside was well furnished and classy. In the center was a round table with comfortable chairs around it.  The walls were filled with pictures of ponies and other beings, buildings being constructed, farms being taken care of, children playing in the streets.  

 

There were shelves filled with many books and a fire place next to a bar filled with bottles of many colors and types of drinks. 

 

The head Don walked over to a coat rack near the door and took off his hat and over coat. Next to the coat rack was the same still bat he was carrying not too long ago.  "Gentlemen, fill free to make yourselves comfortable. I'm sure you both had a fairly tiring trip. So no need to rush into the thick of things."  He walked over to the bar and got three glasses ready. "First things first, have either of you hade the pleasure of getting acquainted with the other?"

The king moved a bit on the chair, it wasnt as soft as the ones he was used to but itd have to do.

"No, i do not think i have." He said looking intrigued at the pony sitting on the opposite side of the table.

"I rule the glorious nation of Ponssia, might i know where you come from?"

meanwhile, Hommit hired an agent and sent him to follow the paper trail of all the notes, theyve been getting recently, the agent saluted and flew off into the night

He gives her a small pouch,

 

"Here take this and get something nice when you finish... Standing. Seriously, why doesn't she make real statues?"

The kaiser rubbed a hoof over the rest of the chair before sitting down. "The modest nation of Abendstern." he said, wondering if the other leader had caught his minor challenging of manners. "I am of course its ruler, Kaiser Magnum Howitzer, and you would be,,,?"
