gaming Theories Surrounding Hyrule Temples

I've been trying myself to figure these places out, as to their purposes, or history. This one place, Snowhead Ruins; seems to have a lot of history. I can agree that snowhead was at one point a wealthy family's home. The weapons, crest and the like seems to point towards this aspect. But what strikes me as odd is the way the place is built upon a single piece of rock. The place looks centuries old and littered with what looks to be portraits of the family or at least i think they are.

 

 

 

 

This next one, The Forest temple, seems more than what it appears to be, the layout an design seem to me like this place inhabited by the spirits of the dead. The stalfos don't look like your ordinary soldier, in fact they look like those who serve the royal family. The chainmail they wear seems exactly like the armor seen on the royal family's guards. So this leaves one final question, the four spirits we see take away the torches flames are all female, meaning maybe these were princesses of another country? because the jewelery worn by them seems to make me think so.
