gaming Nintendo expanding.

Nintendo has expanded to new businesses in the past couple of years. They're working on a QoL platform, Pikmin shorts were made, and now Netflix is making a Zelda series.

What are your thoughts on Nintendo expanding their IPs to other forms of media?

I think this could be a good thing.  Particularly when it comes to something like the upcoming Zelda series.  Some of Nintendo's biggest strengths are its characters and their respective worlds.

Of course, if the Zelda series sucks, that would be a bad thing. xD  I shall say a quiet prayer of "please don't suck."

I'm reserving judgment on the Zelda series being made, I'm hoping it will be fun to watch and not like the 80's Zelda cartoon. I can still hear link from that show "Well excussssssse me, princess." *shudders*

The Zelda cartoon could've benefited from the whole "silent protagonist" thing. xD  Maybe d-bag Link (which is how I'd characterize that portrayal of him) would've actually gotten a kiss had he kept his darn mouth shut.

Not really sure what the QoL thing entails, but I'm pretty wary on the live-action Zelda series - understandably so, I think. Though I won't poo-poo it outright until I've seen what comes of it.

If Nintendo really wanted to expand, however, they'd:

-Up the ante on enticing 3rd-party companies to develop for the U

-Shift more resources towards creating new IPs that tread beyond their usual "family friendly" comfort zone

-Accept that the casual market is now a dry well for them, and start catering to the hardcore demographic once more

If they did all of this, I'm almost certain they could reign supreme once more. Or, at the very least, be more of a threatening competitor for Sony and Microsoft.
