Metal Gear Solid, where do I find the Stun Grenades?

OK, so I'm playing Metal Gear Solid 1 on the PS1(using the PS2), and here is my question. I am frustrated at getting up the stairs in the communication tower and frequently dying, but apparently you can stock up on stun grenades, you have space for 18 stun grenades, so where do I get the full 18? Is there enough in the basement armory? And when you go up and down the elevator, does the basement armory restock? Because I think it does. Is there another way I can get up there, besides the skip Seven boss trick?

The armory isn't the only way to get Stun grenades, try checking every room in the floor.

 

There's a little room in the west of the heliport. There's some more in the Tank Hanger when you exit the ventilation shaft(from the top) and there's more on the left. There should also be a few of them in the Canyon where you fought the tank. There's also a room that should have some in B1 of the Nuclear Warhead building. Also if you still keep dying, here's a tip that could help. In B2 of the Nuclear Warhead storage building(same floor with the lab where you find Otacon and Grey Fox), on the left wing of the floor there's some body armor, which should help make things easier to go through

 

As for ammo respawning, I still never figured how it works, I just assumed it'd respawn after each boss fight or major moment in the game

You can get enemies to drop stuff by picking up their unconscious bodies and dropping them immediately. Maybe you can get them to drop the grenades you need.

 

Worse case scenario you can just run back through places you've already been to try and find something.

That mechanic wasn't in the first game(unless your thinking of the Twin Snakes remake)

You could try(I'd say try five times before giving up), but again, I don't think that's the case

Indeed, but there are a lot of scenes that are inaccurate, the Darpa Chief isn't the one who has Diarrhoea, it's Johnny. If Snake shot the Armstech president Baker, the C4 would go off. Also, when snake goes past the lasers, he doesn't get zapped but gassed, the colonel doesn't tell you about the CD Case, it's Baker, but Colonel also tells you as well. Also, Mei Ling doesn't talk to Snake at the beginning, she talks to him at the Heliport. It may be a parody, but I think it was a year since Arin last played it. Miller(Spoilers:Actually Liquid) talks to snake in the Air Duct, he's not much help anyway, as he seems to be one with nature. Also, Time Paradox, Meryl and Snake throw Johnny, if Johnny died, MGS4 wouldn't happen. Although I did see Meryl and Snake drawn into it again, so maybe Johnny was as well.
