Dusk nodded to Zecora, listening intently, and walked up to the bottles to inspect them up close. He may not be able to do much with potions on his own, but perhaps a scientist or alchemist would pay top bit for genuine zebra potions.

 

"I see," he muttered, "and what do your potions do, if I may ask?"

"In order for their purposes to be fulfilled, the user needs to be quite skilled," said Zecora. "I don't need these terribly, but they're not very easy to get, you see."

 

Spellbind meanwhile was eyeing the various equipment and ingredients around the hut. Maybe she'd be more skilled in zebra magic than unicorn magic.

Dusk nodded at Zecora's eccentric explanation, taking in what she'd said. Obviously he'd have to be a unicorn, or at least a practitioner in magic to use these potions properly, but alas, he was neither.

 

However, he could consider selling it off to an enthusiast, but as his eyes began to scan the equipment around the hut, and finally the unicorn mare, he wondered...

 

"Spellbind," he called to her, "perhaps you'd be interested in these potions here?"

Spellbind turned her head in Dusk's direction. "I was thinking that just now," she said. "I'm justt wondering what I could trade. These are pretty boring items."

 

"May I see, fellow pony?" asked Zecora.

 

"Sure," replied Spellbind, and opened her bag.

 

Zecora peeked in. "These seem nice, in my eyes," she commented.

Dusk took the opportunity to look around the hut, and the various items within. Zecora certainly had an eccentric sense of decoration, if all these little ornaments and artefacts were to tell him anything.

 

His crow-like tendencies flared up as a thought entered his head; perhaps, with the zebra distracted, he could swipe a few small items she likely wouldn't miss...

 

He was fully aware that she'd helped him, but he just can't help himself sometimes.

The two mares were entirely oblivious to Dusk's motives as Zecora continued inspecting the items in Spellbind's bag.

 

"Those ornaments look nice," said Zecora. "Name your price."

 

Spellbind leaned over and took a quick flick through a potion recipe book. She checked the simplest recipe in there.

 

"Some pazana tree bark would be good, please," requested Spellbind.

With the two mares busy with their transaction, Dusk took the opportunity to nab a few small ornaments from a shelf and slip them into his saddlebag. With so many around here, it was doubtful the zebra would notice them missing.

 

She did help him out of an unfortunate predicament, but he was a thief; this was in his blood!

Spellbind and Zecora finished with their business. Zecora had some nice ornaments to decorate her hut with, and Spellbind had some zebra magic ingredients to experiment with.

 

Zecora went over to the shelf where Dusk was to put her new items on the shelf. "Good thing I now have these to make the shelf full. It's looking emptier than usual," she commented.

Dusk smirked as Zecora walked over, seemingly to be totally oblivious to his actions. An important trait to have when you're a master thief, after all.

 

"I'm glad you two ladies were able to do business," he smiled, glancing toward the door, "but perhaps I should be going soon..."

"Goodbye, Dusk," Spellbind dismissed the stallion. "And yeah, I'd say we all made pretty good progress today. Take care!" she added, and then mulled over what she could do with her new items. Planning ahead was fun for her.

caliber looked at dusk walking out. "leaving so soon?" caliber called, "come on, lets see what ya got to trade. you want this?" he held up a fire ruby. "or maybe this?" he held up a golden apple, "or maybe this?" he held up some coffee grounds. "i got alot of things, come on, let me see what ya got!"

Dusk grabbed his briefcase under his wing and nodded to the two mares as he began to depart, but was stopped by the rather enthusiastic stallion.

Who was in possession of some rare looking items, funny enough.

 

With a nod, he opened his saddlebag and revealed his items; the coin, and the ornament he received from Spellbind earlier.

"Very well, what will you take for the apple?"

"oooh, whats that?" caliber said as he picked up the coin. "when was it made? where'd ya get it? whats it made out of? how'd ya get it? how much was it original worth? how much is it worth now? is it in mint, or average condition?" caliber chatted.

 

'i can't help but feel he has something else...hmm...' caliber thought

Dusk frowned as the unicorn grabbed the coin from him, and swiftly took it back before explaining.

"In that order, it's a coin used by an old griffin kingdom centuries ago, I...acquired it from somepony, it's made of gold, I imagine it was worth a few bits back then and it'll be worth a few thousand now, and it's mint condition."

 

He had a sneaking feeling he was wondering something else, and so prepared to answer any other questions.

Spellbind looked at what was going on outside. "Solid gold," she restated to herself. Maybe she could trade with Dusk and get that, then she could sell it.

 

She decided against it. "I'm sure that guy could use it more," she went on, having a conversation with herself.
