*Video* Doesn't Remind Me of Season 5 (Audioslave Parody)

I finally finished this one. I was trying to kick a cold before I recorded it, but I eventually just powered through with a bottle of Dayquil.  I deleted many sniffles that I tried not to pick up in the mic throughout the recording.

For this same reason, I decided to screw-off playing the live drums. It's pretty much impossible to delete ambient sounds (like consistent sniffling) from a drum recording.

At any rate, please let me know what you think of my vocals. I am seriously leery about posting this because I don't really sing. My last singing track was hugely neglected which told me that I must be terrible. If I am bad, please tell me. The only experience I have with singing is in the car and shower, and I will not get butt-hurt if you tell me your honest opinion no matter how rude or harsh you believe you're being. :) Thanks.

I have a master thread for all of my songs, but because this wasn't an original song, I didn't want it there.

Nice work!  I'm quite fond of ponified versions of mainstream rock songs.  For this one, I'm glad you sang the way that works for you, and didn't try to emulate Chris Cornell.  If we're ever at the same place at the same time, I'd love to jam with you.

That sounds like a plan.

LOL. Not even Chris Cornell can sing like Chris Cornell anymore. I don't see a reason to sound like him. ;) My buddy at work says my "country boy" voice came out a lot. I retook this song many times trying to eliminate that. I hate sounding like an Okie and put a lot of effort into speaking like an educated person. Nonetheless, I am from Oklahoma, so I naturally speak with an awful drawl.

Sorry for spilling on you, I'm just happy somepony commented. I was heavily discouraged from the lack of attention despite the amount of work that I put into this little project.

Did you submit it to EQD or other content aggregators?  The window of opportunity has passed for this project, but it's always a good idea to strike when the iron is hot.  My band times our productions and releases based on what the community is doing, for maximum exposure.  For example, we started working on our cover of Let's Have a Battle back in August so that we could release it on the day Rainbow Rocks hit theaters.  As a result, it was spotlighted on EQD the same day, and remains our most-viewed music video yet.

All my videos have about 1000-5000 views due to EqD, I'd recommend submitting there.

I'm pleasantly surprised at what I'm hearing today You sure you didn't do some pitch correction? Cause damn you can sing in tune. Well done, and I mean that. People love parodies especially metal/rock parodies due to the extreme saturation of EDM out there

Loved how your rough voice sounds. I can't do a rough voice myself. I might have you sing in one of my productions some day you know, youve got talent

Could you publish a downloadable MP3? Thanks.

You can download from here:

If that doesn't work, I'll post an attachment here when I am back at my computer.

That truly means a lot. :) I also love doing collaborations though I mostly make music for singer rather than the other way around. I've never thought of myself as a singer.

This really does mean a lot to me though. Really it does

It appears to only be available as a WAV. It would download faster as a 320kbps MP3.

I can convert it and publish it here for you once it finishes downloading if you want.

Okay, here is the song as a 320kbps MP3.

I actually hadn't listened to the song until after I posted the MP3.

I think your vocals sound great, especially if you had a cold while performing them.

I heard a cough at the end, by the way. laugh.png

I'd suggest submitting it to Equestria Daily, but it may be too late.

I'll make something more related soon, and I'll try what everypony has been saying here. :) Thanks a bunch for the feedback.

By the way, when I was mixing this down, I never made it all the way to the final seconds of the track when I would restart it. I guess I forgot to delete that little bit of vocals. lol. I noticed it after I had uploaded to youtube, and by then I just left it alone. :D

the problem with .wav is the files are MASSIVE. MP4/M4A are the same quality with reduced size, the problem is they can't be edited in an audio program cause theyre not audio, theyre data if that make sense

You seem to be partially mistaken. An M4A file is just an audio container that can store either ALAC-encoded audio or AAC-encoded audio. ALAC (Apple Lossless Audio Codec) is of course, lossless, while AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) is lossy.

Also, WAV files are data just as much as a compressed audio file is. A WAV is usually encoded in the linear PCM format. (Converting an M4A back to a WAV is trivial with the right program.)
