Ableton Live 9. I have FL Studio 8 only to convert tracks to Mp3 as I found that Ableton was vastly superior in every way. But I play metal, and FL Studio doesn't work well for that.

It's very busy, but it doesn't come together well. I clearly hear guitar right at the start, but then it disappears into the mix, almost never to be heard from again. Bad harmonizing/ugly chord at 0:06, 0:11, 0:15, and 0:21 is clearly intentional, but hits the ear all wrong, but get less noticeable as the layers upon layers of sound grow, and it becomes a wall of sound. I tend to begin to focus less on the melody and just hear how loud and busy the track became until it stops with the chimes. The drums sound like they've been "humanized" or something because the most notable tempo issue is at 0:28 where none of the drum parts line up correctly. When trying to dissect the fill right before the break, I find that the leveling has the drums too far behind the mix, and it doesn't wrap up to the break. It just kind of ends. When we come back in at 0:34, the drums and the instruments drop on 1 independently which takes us into a clunky, tempo variant nightmare of too many sounds and not enough coordination. That synth at 0:42 and 0:53 is horrendously loud compared to the rest of the track. 0:49 is an especially jarring tempo mistake with the keys, but it's certainly not exclusive to that area. At about 0:55 to 1:10 the track adds even more synths and it becomes even more discordant as there are times, like at 1:08 where the drums stop completely, start again, and then stop without flow or direction. And at 1:18, the way-too-loud synth comes back and is here to stay until closing, and I believed the track would peak in the number of sounds that plays at one time, becoming increasingly difficult to follow, but then guitar comes in fairly loudly, and then even the main melody begins the paradoxically "humanized" tempo mistakes that appear to be forced at 1:42 and again at 1:49. Six words can fix this track: Less is more and tempo correction.

Drums are so finicky! lol And admittedly, they need a lot of tweaking, but ultimately I need a better program. (Right now, I'm using a midi-programmer and stock drum sounds. It's not even a Drum VST, so squeezing out good sound is very difficult.) Thanks for the heads up on that EQ though. ;P For vocals, I've found that I don't like the sound of stereo enhancements. I have three vocal tracks (Lead Center, Backup Right, and Backup Left) and that's really about as good as it's going to get. My ears don't like the sound of double-tracked lead vocals. I'm glad my distortion is sounding better! I rebuilt the entire set-up with Reaper plug-ins and different cab sims. Instead of Marshall Stack impulses, I'm using an Orange 2x12 that provides a much warmer tone. Also! Distortion pedal on Bass guitar is my new favorite thing! ;P

Comic (WIP) Shining Seashell is trying to take a metal-style profile photo of Crusader! but that ends up being more difficult than he thought. Salty, bro? (Sketch) LeNerd and Kazuma play Battlefield 4 and Kazuma is always losing his mind on that game. I need pointers. If you know how to art, I'd love some advice. I'm not very happy with what I've got, and I'd really like to get better. Anything helps.

Yeah, the timing was really funky, and I couldn't quite get it right, and I didn't really understand it. This is simply bad musicianship on my part, and I know what you mean. I worry that it's going to overpower the mix, so I second guess my kick EQ. I knew I was screwing it up, and I cranked the high-end anyway. for the fuzz, I tried to lower the highs from 15k to 12k, but that didn't seem to work. I tried running a filter that chopped off the low end at 250htz and upper end at 12k, but that didn't do a lot either. I'm not really in the position for a new pedal, and I have yet to find a pedal sim that really does it for me. Thanks for the help, man. It really does mean a lot that you'd listen and tutor me along.

For better or worse, I've tried everything you said like a check list, and while I think it sounds pretty good on my personal listening speakers, it sounds really empty on my studio monitors (I've got the sennheiser 380HD pro), is that normal? I also couldn't figure out how to stereo enhance my lead vocals. Collaboration shenanigans

I fell off a 20' scaffold once and had that. That shit is no joke! I wasn't admitted, and I could walk, but I felt banged up for several weeks.

Couple of times. Broke my arm pretty good, had surgery on that, and was admitted because my stupid body decided it wasn't going to come out of the anesthesia and stop breathing. lol. Good times. Six weeks later, I had an abcess lung; 4 weeks hospitalized, 2 surgeries, and tried to die again. lol, my breathing capacity was so severely reduced that I had to be in a wheelchair for two months. That was fun times.
