Skylar looked at them all, seeming somewhat unimpressed, before turning back to her scavenging. She sniffed at a potion.

"Eew. This smells..." she paused. "Actually, it smells really good. Is this soup? It looks disgusting." She drank the soup-potion in one giant swallow and gave a loud burp.

uh zecora? we have a problem, the kid just drank a potion, anyway, she siad turning to skylar, "why did you just drink that? you shouldnt just drink strange potions, that could have been bad, go over to zecora and ask her what kind of a potion that was" lightning strike walked back outside and noticed an apple on the ground, "oh good" she said to herself

caliber had fallen silent. "copy our abilities and skill, huh?" he raised his head, fighting spirit in his eyes. "sounds like a real fight!! I wanna fight him alone!!" he looked at the others. "I can, right? no-one'll interrupt?" he continued eating his zap=apple. "right?"

 

 

he looked at skylar. "aw, I wanted some!!!!!!"

Copy... abilities? Oh wait, did the weird zebra say something I missed? Shoot. Well, it's probably not important. Skylar thought. She registered what Caliber said a moment later. "Oh, ah, sorry, master swordspony." She winked. "you'll have to deal, tough guy." She stuck her tongue in the vial and began attempting to lick any remaining drops. After a moment, she said, voice muffled. "Mah tung iz ztuck."

"I certainly won't..." Kaymen said, half hoping he'd get his flank handed to him "but I'm sure *creeching sound* will help me whenever I need her" he says, as he motions to the bat flying next to him "but anyway, I think I'll go get myself some mushrooms, if you guys don't mind" Kaymen says, just before flying away to gather them

She dismissed her easily. "Eh, iz fine. AI zink. An you hel me get mah tung outta dis?" she began pulling on the vial violently till it clattered away, separating from her tongue. "Oh! Bucking crap! Anyway, what kind of pony... or, er, zebra... makes potions?" She laughed at the very idea. (She hasn't even heard of Zecora, by the way. She lives a fairly sheltered life in the city, until she was dared into going into the Everfree Forest by a friend and got lost. That's the only reason she's here.)

"Uh-oh, that sounds like trouble guys, let's go outside and see what happened! That sounded like Lightning!"

Skylar jumped at the scream and ran outside. "OH, CELESTIA, YOU GUYS ARE WARRIOR PONIES." She looked around. "Why the heck are there--" a shadow pony leapt at her and she kicked at it, hooves clumsy. "Stay back, evil shadow ponies!" She flew back slightly. "This is so cool!" She whispered to Zecora ecstatically.

Kaymen hear the lightning strike outside the hut and hurried back, but not quite getting involved. He perched in a tree, just out of sight and watched the blue Pegasus fight the shadows. Kaymen only grinned "let's see what they do to her...I'm curious to see this..." He said, in a devilish tone

[Humble Hymn 90]

Zecora went around the hut to find what food she had, while at the same time keeping her eyes on the flute.

 

"Thanks",Humble said "but you should give the food to those who be better off with it....Unlike me...who's only good at stealing flutes....OW....." as Zecora bopped him on the head with the flute.

 

You may think yourself a fool,

but this is no simple tool.

 

Great power is what comes from this,

something that many would miss.

 

For there are few with spirit and heart,

that would never be torn apart,

 

from this powerful flute,

some may call "cute"

 

As it gives life and energy

to those deemed key.

 

And brings confusion and pain,

to those not quite sane.

as I'm sure with this, the battle is won.

 

She gave the flute back to Humble Hymn unaware of her surroundings.

 

It seems our safety has been broken,

and gives no time for those spoken.

 

Use the flute you must,

with those you most trust.

 

Zecora pushes everypony outside including humble with the flute in his hooves, dazed by everything going on. "But how am I supposed to-"

 

Look deep inside

 

Zecora says as she slams the door closed. With a slightly muffled voice she says,

caliber had gotten serious. there were defenseless ponies here. he dashed to skylar's side, and sliced the shadow to ribbons. "stay safe, kid." he said simply, before streaking outside, and attacking any shadows he saw. they were nimble, he'll give them that much.

lightning strike shrieked, she was getting pinned down by a big shadow pony, "CALIBER" she yelled, "got a spare sword i could use" im a little stuck and i think i could et him off of me with a slice of a sword blade" the shadow pony put his hoof on her muzzle to get her to stop talking. lightning strike bit the ponies hoof to get it off of her muzzle

Kaymen saw the other ponies run to help her, he was disappointed and decided nothing would come from just watching. So he decided to fly in and help. He kicked one in the back of the head "This is the sort of thing that happens when I leave for 5 minutes!?" Kaymen said, visibly annoyed

Blizzard had ran outside to see what happened and saw Lightning being attacked, "Oh, heck no! Cryo!" Blizzard went on a small rampage flinging ice projectiles at the shadows, "Stay back dammit! Or I'll kill you again! Take this! Get off of her evil shadows! Caliber go help her out!" Blizzard said as he flung more ice at the shadows with precision.

Skylar beamed at Caliber's back, watching him fight. "Pfft, this is SO cool." She said, stars now in her eyes. She glanced at Humble. "Nice flute... so, if you're with these guys, do you, like, play at shadow ponies? ....Make them fall asleep or something?" Now she seemed completely interested in the ponies, Skylar's former attitude was gone.

caliber growled, and stuck his sword into the shadow pony's side. he then ripped it straight up. "sorry, light, I only carry one sword." he said, before engaging against three at once. "ya could provide air support though!!" he stayed kind of close to lightning, in case she was pinned again.

(Gah! Slow down!)

Kaymen bucked a few shadows behind him and walked a few with his wings. All while not noticing he wasn't doing much, he was just trying to look cool at this point. At least he was stunning them. "*screeching sound* Help me out here!" The bat flew around and distracted some of the shadows

Skylar did not seem at all phased that a fight was going on around her, simply excited out of her wits. "Okay, so obviously, the shadow ponies are the bad guys... I can help, too!" She called loudly. "I'll kick 'em!" That's all I'm good for, a nasty voice in the back of her head informed her as she flew at a pony and kicked it wildly. It vanished quickly back into the shadows, but one had come behind Skylar and tackled her while the inexperienced Skylar had her guard down. Skylar flew back and landed against a tree with an "Oomf!"

Blizzard kept on shooting ice and freezing the shadows solid, "Lightning, we got this here, either get back and get safe, or do what Caliber said and provide help. This seems like it's about to get interesting! Grrah!" Blizzard had frozen and destroyed many of them and was picking them off slowly but surely.

Blizzard backed it up when he saw Lightning do that, "Oh shoot! Move Caliber!" Blizzard made an ice shield around himself to defend against whatever backlash he may get, "Get them Lightning, hit them hard, don't let them get away!" Blizzard said as he stood his defensive ground,

"Light show..? Wha..?" Skylar shook herself. "Bucking buck, bucking tartarus, buck, buck!" She shook her head wildly shooting to her feet as another shadow pony pounced on her and pinned her. Okay, do what those cool ponies did! She kicked it in the gut and it flew back and she galloped into Zecora's hut. An unfamiliar, unpleasant feeling was sprouting in her stomach. Why am I scared? She wondered, suddenly angry at herself. Why am I letting these guys do all the work? Because they were experienced, she answered herself. They were experienced, and she wasn't.

caliber jumped back, allowing her to have a clear shot. he glanced at skylar. "nice moves, kid!" he called out, "i might show ya a thing or two!" but for the main part, he was taking care of any shadow that got close to the hut. he grinned at ice blizzard. "just another average day, huh?"

She smirked at him. "Thanks, swordsman," she said, realizing she still didn't know the pony's name. Most of the time, when someone offered to teach me something, I'd kick them in the face, she mused to herself. These guys are different. I respect them, I guess. She was suddenly glad to have stumbled upon them, despite the fighting.

lightning strike landed on the ground, but not ready to give up. she called to Humble, "keep skylar safe" she looked at how many shadow ponies were left, they just kept coming, "caliber, we cant keep fighting them, they just keep coming" she looked at skylar "and we have to keep the kid safe"

"I can protect myself!" Skylar snapped at her. Except that this guy, Caliber, keeps having to jump in and protect you, she thought privately, but did not voice the thoughts. "I can help! I can fight!" She insisted. "I want to fight! And I certainly won't be protected by this.. shy guy!" she added, glancing at Humble.
