As they left, some of the townsponies came out of hiding, followed by more and more.

 

"You! you beat Tim De'ville!" exclaimed one of the ponies, pointing at Strong. This caused a murmur among the crowd, followed by clapping, cheering, hooting, and hollering.

 

"It seems you have a fan-base," Ali giggled. "I'll be waiting for you at the edge of town."

Strong chuckled. Ge was about to call out to her as she left, he didn't really want her to leave though he didn't fully understand why, but a crowd of townsponies surrounded him, cheering and whooping. One of the ponies flashed a camera, "This is frontline stuff" the pony murmured as he took more pictures. Eventually Red regained conciousness, as he stumbled out of the cafe, he took a look at Strong, turning tail and fleeing. Eventually Strong got out of the crowd and met back up with Ali. His side stung slightly but it was bearable, a large scrape could be seen across his body.

"Oh, you're hurt!" exclaimed Ali, seeing the wound. "It doesn't look too bad, thankfully, but nonetheless..." Ali pulls out some disinfectant and bandages from the first aid kit in her satchel bag, and dresses the wound. "Better safe than sorry, you know," She continued. "It may not be bad now, but it'll be unbearable if it gets infected.

Strong looked at the bandage when she finished. "Thanks" he said smiling, "But honestly, I'm more worried about you"

"Oh please, like one big jerk is going to faze me. I may not look it, but I can handle myself quite nicely," retorted Ali. "Anyway, we should start heading off again, unless you wanna get your picture taken some more?" She said, barely stifling a laugh.

Strong smiled, "Nah, i don't like that kind of attention" he chuckled. He then asked, "So how did you come across a med kit anyway?"

Ali's ears drooped, and she blushed a little, slightly embarrassed.

 

"Well, you remember how I ran into the tree back at the Pegasi races in Ponyville? Well i usually do stuff like that anyway, so I've gotten to the point where i always keep a first aid kit on me in case i draw blood accidentally."

Strong nodded in understanding, thinking that she looked pretty cute when she blushed. "Understandable. But still, besides the crash, you still looked pretty amazing in that race"

"Heh, yeah." Ali replied.

 

"Well, lets head off then, shall we?" Said Ali as she started walking down the path. "You know, mentioning that race gave me an idea."

 

Ali studied ahead and saw a big Oak tree on the horizon.

 

"Wanna have a race of our own? to that Oak tree?" she said, pointing in its direction.

Strong looked at the tree, and with a grin nodded, "You're on" he said

"Just so I don't smoke you too badly, I'll try to not use my wings." Ali said with a smirk.

 

"Ready?"

 

Ali braced herself.

 

"Set?"

 

An adrenaline rush shot through her body, just as it had at the original Pegasi race.

 

"Go!"

Strong shot forward, his long strides carrying him quickly, but because of his large size, was not able to speed up quickly

Ali, having a nimbler body size, quickly accelerated ahead, leaving Strong somewhat behind, however, she knew that because of his size, he could quickly out stride her.

Strong gave it all he could, but she managed to stay ahead. Eventually is was obvious he was not built for speed as Ali pulled ahead, reaching the oak first. "Nice... Job" he gasped as he trotted to her, smiling

"Like always." Ali replied jokingly. "Let's rest here in the shade for a bit, shall we?"

Strong nodded and smiled "Sounds good" he said as he comically fell on his uninvited side with a thud and laid there.

Ali giggled as she leaned against the tree trunk, thinking about the cafè incident, and how Strong had protected her.

 

'Of course he'd have protected me, he is helping me find my parents after all.' she thought, 'But something, something tells me it was more than just that.'

 

She glanced at Strong, thinking some more, but decided not to press the matter further.

 

"You've been through alot today, maybe we should just stop here and resume tomorrow?" she asked Strong.

Strong didn't answer, for he was already asleep, a small smile on his face as he breathed quietly.

"I'll take that as a yes." Ali giggled to herself.

 

'If I remember correctly, there isn't a storm scheduled for tonight, so the tree should provide enough cover, but i'll need to start a fire for warmth when the night hours start.'

 

As she thought about such things, Ali closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of the Sun on her face.

 

She quickly fell asleep also, at the base of the tree.

Since Ali was a light sleeper, when the air became chilled and the moon began to rise, she quickly woke.

 

Building a fire next to Strong but away from the tree, she laid down beside it and closed her eyes.

 

Just as she was about to fall asleep, she suddenly became uncomfortable, as if somepony or something was watching them. She looked around, but couldn't see anything. Slightly unnerved, she crawled over to Strong, and laid down so their backs were to each other.

 

Feeling like nothing could sneak up behind her now, she was able to sleep through the night.

The morning sun rose over the horizon, casting a warm glow over the two sleeping ponies. Strong eventually woke up, feeling something on his back, he turned to see Ali curled up and sleeping next to him. A small smile spread across his face as he watched her sleep. He eventually had to wake her up, so he placed a gentle hoof on her shoulder and shook her very slightly, "Ali, time to get up" he whispered

"Five more minutes, Derpy, please."

Strong stifled a chuckle at what she said, "Pretty sure my name isn't Derpy" he replied as he gently shook her again.

"Mmm? ... Oh! Sorry Strong, I guess i'm still asleep a little bit." Ali said, blushing from embarrassment.

 

She sat up, stretched again, and began to pack and clean up.
