Buck Testa 5,505 July 15, 2015 Share July 15, 2015 I will preface this by saying I have not watched a single episode of Doctor Who, and pretty much every reference to that show from this character went completely over my noggin since I've paid so little attention to it. That being said, Doctor Whooves is probably one of the top candidate for most interesting male pony with a speaking role to date. While other characters have been good and have had their moments none of them really struck me as the type to really hold an episode on their own. It worked for big mac in the comics because we could see inside his head and what he was thinking, but I don't know if such a format could work in the show. Look at him the way I do, divorced from his reference: He's smart, quirky, is an inventor, has been around a long time (he states he was working on a time travel invention for centuries, which REALLY makes me wonder how old Granny smith is), he knows Rarity and Derpy personally at least, and is a bit of a wiz at math if that bowling scene is any indication. Not to mention his voice is really fun to listen too. There are things you can do with such a character that wouldn't need to lean on its fandom origins either. Just from that one episodes you can bring up questions that would make for some interesting episodes. -How would the Doctor and Twilight get along being both scientifically inclined and all? Pinkie is no stranger to making inventions and having bouts of brilliance, so having an episode featuring the three of them working on a tough problem would be a really interesting episode -Doc and Rarity seem to know eachother, What about an episode about the two of them? What would she think of him? What kind of episode could they have? -Am I the only one who thinks an episode featuring Doctor, Derpy, And Daring doo on a jungle adventure would be awesome? -When did he come to ponyville? He said he's been around for centuries, but clearly he wasn't around for the founding since Granny is so ancient looking He's a really interesting character with some potential to be fleshed out beyond his reference, and I really hope they do just that. 4 http://www.fimfiction.net/user/Billy%20G%20Gruff http://billyggruff.deviantart.com/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPVpSXbUpDYTcaFHTPiPjYA
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 42,202 July 15, 2015 Share July 15, 2015 If I could brohoof this at least 100 times, I would. Ever since his amazing appearance in Slice of Life, he is ripe for some kind of episode, especially considering the lack of adventures with decent male characters in the show. I would absolutely love an adventure with him and Derpy, much like the fan animations that have been made, but I think that would be asking for a lot, so your ideas might work a lot better. :3 The Doctor and Pinkie would be an interesting duo. Redeem me into childhood. Show me myself without a shell.

Jangocoolguy 433 July 16, 2015 Share July 16, 2015 Only if he's a scientist, doesn't get too much of the spotlight, and, most important of all...NO DOCTOR WHO REFERENCES He needs to stand out on his own without a lot references to a (grotesquely) overrated show the little girls (and casual viewers) won't get anyway. It worked in SoL, it can work better again. "It's like I found a piece of myself I didn't even know was missing!" How do you think WE feel?! Otherwise anything else just flew over my head. Goes to show how out of touch I am with Dr. Who, huh? "It's like I found a piece of myself I didn't even know was missing!" How do you think WE feel?! Buck Testa 5,505 July 16, 2015 Author Share July 16, 2015 Well, his science lab, all that talk about science being more important than magic, and the reference to time travel, as well as studies conducted over decades and centuries I would personally like him to grow beyond his origin though. Plus if they REALLY make him too much like Doctor Who there could be some legal issues, they already joked on how having an actual Tardis would get them sued. Having him be a scientist and researcher in general and working on inventions would probably help in moving him into his own character. http://www.fimfiction.net/user/Billy%20G%20Gruff http://billyggruff.deviantart.com/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPVpSXbUpDYTcaFHTPiPjYA

The series was rebooted ten years ago, which means that many of the teenagers who fell in love with the show in '05 are now watching it with their own small children. Heck, last Christmas my niece asked me for (and recieved) a sonic screwdriver and a Doctor Whooves plush. ----------------------- 171 July 16, 2015 Share July 16, 2015 I haven't watched an episode of Doctor Who (only one, but it didn't really give me an overall judgement of the series), but his character in Slice of Life was admittedly entertaining. Not only was it because his voice was unique and the quick little backstory we got about him, but he proves to have potential of holding his own episode or at least interacting with another one (Rarity, like you said). There's been more males this season and most likely for the next, so actually having this guy appear again with more screen-time and an actual plot would be nice. Sidral Mundet 1,666 July 16, 2015 Share July 16, 2015 (edited) I could not really care if they did anything with Doctor Whooves, but I wouldn't be upset if they did anything with him either, so long as it was an intelligent use of him, not one just for shits and giggles. At least they could developed him so he's not just a shallow Tenth Doctor rip-off wearing the Fourth's scarf. Maybe have him manipulate the Changelings into genocide, now that would be cool! (And before anyone says anything about it, The Doctor has committed genocide twice on the Daleks, and this was BEFORE the Time War. He's also used a gun and felt absolutely no guilt over it, but now I'm getting sidetrack.) Edited July 16, 2015 by Sidral Mundet Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end. That's basically what I'm getting at not the genocide part though O.o The doctor who reference was cute, but he really should be his own character if he appears in a speaking role again. http://www.fimfiction.net/user/Billy%20G%20Gruff http://billyggruff.deviantart.com/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPVpSXbUpDYTcaFHTPiPjYA
Justin_Case001 4,934 July 16, 2015 Share July 16, 2015 I've never seen Dr. Who either, but I love the Dr. Hooves character, and I'd definitely be in favor of a spotlight for him. But then again, I'd be in favor of a spotlight for practically any background pony. (And that includes Celestia. :S) I love getting to know new ponies.
