Do you guys have any stories on when you used inside jokes from MLP? (ie 20% cooler). I'm interested in all your guys' stories

I have a friend who isn't very good at hiding his emotions - I used to have fun mentioning some of the NSFW aspects of the fandom e.g. cupcakes probably being the most well known example, and watching everyone around us get confused as he'd just collapse laughing. It used to work everywhere, but the best ones were probably when we were both studying for our Masters, when we were conducting research in the labs, it would happen in front of his supervising professor.

 

Probably not the best story that there is, but it's probably the best I got outside quoting the show with him in front of friends/public and them getting confused by our reactions to what the other said (although the first example had much better reactions).

I always try to use "That's an academy record!" when I get the chance.

 

I've also said "10 seconds flat" several times in front of people. Nobody ever gets it.

Before I was really aware of MLP, I was in a 'Supernatural' role-playing game (in which one hunts down mythical creatures such as werewolves and whatnot in a modern setting) and one of the players critically failed an intelligence check when trying to identify a monster we were investigating, so the GM said; "Oh, yes, you recognise this as the work of a fluffy magical unicorn," which I think might have been a reference to MLP. Since then, I have done something similar in role-playing games that I have run.

 

"History check: You rolled... a one. Yes, you know the history of this place -  it's the ancient home of the magical friendship ponies and home of the Cult of Cool, which is dedicated to spreading rainbows and awesomeness across the land."
