Back when Celestia and Luna had ruled, Sombra had been but a mere shadow, ruling over the Northern Empire, now it was known as the Old Empire. Now Sombra's shadow ruled over the entire land of Equestria. He had challenged might of Equestria, and had won. Sealing away Celestia in a prison made of Sunfire. Luna had been tainted by the dark magics Sombra commanded, becoming his head "priestess". Sombra now resides in the city of New Canterlot, a technopolis of aristocrats and corrupted filth. But in the shadow of the Shadow King, a League of warriors: assassins, hackers, and other who live outside the law. The Shadowmancer's League. And their one goal is to topple the evil monarch and his power over all ponies.

"Hmmm..." Muttered the stallion with Sombra's horn in the HQ. "Are you sure these individuals will be useful? One of them was a member of Sombra's militia. Another is part dragon, so he's a bit of a wild card. Are you certain it's advantagious to bring them into the fold, Ryoki?" He asked, concern plain on his face, his eyes full of the darkness one gets as either a serial killer or a war veteran.

"I just think we could get better than these ruffians..." His stance attempts to become comforting. "After all, we're trying to WIN..."

"Ruffians they may be. But we need new shadowmancers, and we don't have the luxury of trying to wait, Sombra's secret police force have some new tech they're going to implement, and they are hiring new police tanks. Tanks!? Who hires tanks?" Ryoki then said, "Marion, we're going to do some intensive training. I found a way to up our game. You're familiar with shadow magic, correct?" Ryoki paced around the modified underground monastery. He then smiled, there is going to be a train, and we are going to have to take out the drivers and guards and steal the cargo of the train." Ryoki then muttered impatiently, "where are those ruffians?" as he waited for the others that were to meet them.

"Those ponies forced me to learn black magic why would I want to work with them." Black heart said troting in hate clear in her eyes. "Besides for there to be peace sombra's rain must end. We will win. I promise you have my horn, my magic." Black heart said as a black sword materializing. "I will not fall!"

I nods at the question. "Of course. I guess you're right; the tanks ARE a bit ridiculous..." I smile humorously.

"Perhaps they're busy; attempting to be fashionably late... The dosiers didn't seem to indicate them being the late sort, though... I hope they didn't get caught." I frown, faintly, getting myself prepared to use one of my best spells; the Fearful Gaze.

"You know how much it pains me to use this; I had to learn it directly from Him..." I shudder violently, as though remembering something unsavory.

"I pity the poor sods I have to use this on... Your worst fear isn't something I show lightly..."

Shadow, opened his red eyes, dropped from the ceiling, his front metal claws clanging from the impact, he said, as he glares at both of them

 

"what do you mean ruffian. I have more class than sombra. Okay I can be exaggerating a little, but I'm no ruffian. So, whats this training I heard about?

I smile, "It appears we're all here. Care to explain the plan to the agents?" I ask, respectfully, eyes gazing at the other two, scanning over them.

"You're all a bit different in person. I am Marion Ette, and, before you ask, this is indeed the same type of horn. Your superior will be briefing you on the mission. Godspeed, Shadowmancers." I speak to them in a commanding tone, as a drill sergeant might to a fresh batch of recruits.

"Our worst fears must not govern us. Once, we are all done here, we go after that train. It's been a while since we've been in New Canterlot, anyways." Ryoki prepped himself. Perform the spell on me, it's effects are only mind influencing. If I don't come back to my senses, you know what to do. Ryoki piled his weaponry on a nearby table, and then moved to the center of the training area. "Also, reprimand the Halfblood for being late, but be easy on him. Perform the spell, Marion."

My horn glows with purple and green, my scelera turning green, my iris scarlet, purple mist flowing out the edges. "YES, SIR..." I hiss.

My magic strikes you, performing the requested spell. My eyes go back to normal, and my horn no longer infused with the magic.

"MAGGOT! DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE THE LUXURY OF BEING LATE! NEXT TIME I CATCH YOU ARRIVING THAT TARDY, I'LL SHOVE YOUR WINGS DOWN YOUR THROAT! DO YOU HEAR ME PRIVATE?!" I scream at the draconic pony, my voice back to normal.

"What is happening right now is that Marion here is going to using a shadow spell that makes you see your worst fear, I shall go first due to safety reasons, I'd rather die than you. You must be able to master your fear or you become a mindless killing machine, in which the others here will kill. After me, it will be you two 'ruffians' next. Then afterwords we are going to raid a train in New Canterlot. Marion when you're ready, start the spell." Ryoki steeled himself for what would happen next.

Shadow chuckled and said,

 

Just a friendly reminder, I can drop anypony into a portal, which I can close until I say so. Names Shadow Beast. Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to be sharpening my claws, and doing maintenance."

 

He reached into a portal, grabbed a knife made of obsidian, a chair, and a tool set, then sat down and started sharpening his claws.

(OOC: Just so you know, I DID cast the spell. It's similiar to the effect of the Fear Door from the Crystal Empire episode...)

"AS YOU COMMAND." My voice becomes a distorted growl, and dark magic strikes Ryoki, sending him to experience his worst fear.

"Yes, I am part Umbrum. Yes, that was identical to the Door of Fear in what was previously the Crystal Empire. Yes, it was taught to me by Sombra. Any questions? He'll be out for a spell."

"Shadow, do you have any questions about the operation or training, before Ryoki come to, and you're put under for a bit?" I ask, looking him dead in the eyes, my own the kind you get only after killing lots of people.

"I wonder what it is that YOU fear most..." A perverse smile flashes across my face, barely contained into a grimace.

Ryoki looked about the shadowy version of the world, and then he saw it, all of the Shadowmancers, being slaughtered left and right, and then it quickly fast forwarded to where he was alone, on the execution stand, killing the ponies he called friends. Ryoki wanted to scream, but he could not, he wanted to cry, but no tears came. Ryoki then saw it, he was in the Royal throne room with Sombra, attacking when Celestia burst into the room, for a moment he rejoiced, until Celestia's mane turned into a purple black blaze, and then he ran. Ryoki had never been so scared in his life. He ran and ran until he couldn't run no more. Then he screamed. All of their work, swept away, meaningless. All those lives spent... Then Ryoki realized something. This shall not happen. Ryoki turned to the demonized Celestia and roared, "Fear shall never hold me!" And charged at the foe before him

Shadow set the knife down and said

 

No, all I need to know is who to torture, plus I already ran into problem before. So I had to train myself to open many portals at once. But I will ask one thing. Does the spell show us our deepest fears, if they are our memories?"

This breaks the spell that held him, and he returns to consciousness, his eyes no longer locked by dark magic.

Smiling warmly, I turn to him. "Glad you made it out, sir. Prepare yourself, Shadow!" My eyes and horn infuse once more with dark magic.

"YOUR TURN..." My distorted voice snarls, and a beam strikes your metallic wing, rebounding it to me.

"SHI-" I lock up, petrified with fear.

Ryoki woke up, stood up and saw that he had survived the test. And then he saw Marion, who eyes had become a purple color and he was muttering incoherently. Ryoki checked the clock on the wall, 56 hours until showtime. Ryoki looked at the other ponies and smiled. Hey, you two, let's go get some food. I'm starving up in here! Motioning to a guard, Ryoki then told him to let him to keep an eye on Marion, and put an inhibitor ring on him if he went nuts, and then lock the door. Then he activated the teleporter and teleported to Pony Joe's.

Shadow open dropped his stuff into a portal, grabbed his cloak and threw it on, then he stepped onto the teleportal. When he got there, he said, as he placed his hood on

 

"Ok, haven't eaten yet anyways, but I'll bring my food if you don't mind. I never like to be a bother anyways."

With a burst of dark energy, I break out of my own spell. In the backlash, the inhibitor ring is melted, rendered useless. "YOU'RE MINE, YOU PATHETIC CREATURE!" I scream in rage. I blink, readjusting to my surroundings. "... R-right... Just my spell..." I clear my throat.

"Let that be a lesson to ALWAYS be prepared for a blast of dark magic..." I shudder, remembering whatever it was I saw. "Should I continue with the lessons, sir?"

What am I supposed to do here?" black heart asked starting to feel uncomfortable with being here. "May I please leave or do you have anything for me to do sir? Please tell me what I can do." She stabbed her sword into the ground. Using her magic she made small group of black gems fly around out of Boredom

"Alright, Black Heart, see that officer over there, the train transit one? I need his schedule of the train routes, to see exactly where we need to be so we are in and out of that train in no time, tell me where the train is coming from and going to. And the Expected Time of Arrival, we need to keep the damage as minimal as possible to keep from anypony from suspecting us. Can you do it?" Ryoki toke another sip of the worthless coffee, glad that it was some of the best stuff he'd had in a while. Less like water and more like coffee.

"I should probably test the other, while Black is busy..." I look eager to prove myself better before the new recruits. My posture becomes exaggerated, oozing confidence, then showing deference to my superior. "It shouldn't take so long, considering how powerful he feels..."

"Sure I can." Her body turned to shadow 3 minutes later "alright sir the train is coming from applelosa and it is going to the outskirts of new Canterlot and time of arrival is 20:00, sir! What is next for me to do if anything." She said vaporizing the sword and the gems "how are the others doing"?

Shadow pulled out his chair, a screwdriver, cloth, a small table, then he sat down and removed one blade at a time, from his right wing, He said, as he was doing checking each blade, 

 

"Why don't I just drop the whole train into a portal, it doesn't leave any trace. the most guarded pony can fall in and disappear without a trace, even with trackers."

 

Once he was done check the blades of his right wing, he started putting them back in

"Marion's awake, Dragonface is still at base, let's get back there. I think it's time to formulate the full plan." Ryoki smiled and then asked "I think I figured out how to shadow jaunt. Let's see, Black Heart. I'm going to teach you a rudimentary spell that every pony can use if they are part of our league, note this different from shadow magic, friendship magic, ki, or whatever shite you know of. Simply imagine the place you want to go that you've been to before many times, and step on a shadow. Now the trick is to relax and let go of reality. See you there." Ryoki said to her pleasantly, before falling into the shadows and reappearing in training room to see Marion awake and fine. "Good to see you Marion, made a little trip to collect some news and found something interesting. Join me in the map room at oh, say 17:00? See ya." And he fell backwards into the shadow, letting go of everything he knew, to appear in his private quarters. Ryoki decided a cat nap was in order. And with that he fell asleep.

I smile warmly. "It was good to see you as well." I turn to the others. Great, now I'll have to do wait until after the briefing... Oh well; can't help it if he likes his sleep, only allowing three hours time before the mission starts. He might've figured it out; he isn't as dull as he likes to seem...

"Now, then. I suppose you both will practice in your own methods. If either of you need any help, I'll be in the bar down the block." I go to top up on hatred and fear, absolutely famished from today's events, shadow jaunting there.
