oc looks

Hey guys, lately ive been trying to make an oc, but i cant really draw an oc because im horrible at drawing tail and manes.

I also have a crappy color palate when it comes to pony colors.I am just wondering if some of you could give me some advice, and possibly some insparation.

 

p.s. my art styles come from adapting from others art styles, i feel like a rip off, but as i continue to draw, my are slowly becomes more unique

 

 

p.s.s. I'm to lazy to turn on my scanner so I took a picture of it

 

p.p.s.s my printer is like 2 inches away, but my hands ae occupied with pokemon and chemistry books

Hopefully you still care about getting help, so here it goes.

 

How I went about making my first OC was to go through the character wiki and find the different aspects that I wanted, such as head shape, mane/tail style, etc. You find all the aspects you want then trace them together into one thing.

 

As to colors, generally it is easiest to decide colors after you have a name, talent, and personality in mind. Choose colors that match that. Also, never choose a pure color, for instance, don't pick pure red (FF0000) but rather get something close to it that would make it look less like a plastic color and more like a powdered color by mixing in a little of the other colors.

 

Hopefully this helps you or someone, as to the attached drawing, I'd say you're already a decent artist.
