critique wanted critique my OC

I've been thinking about writing my first fanfic but before i do i would like some critique on the OC(s) i have.

ill tell you a little about the protagonist first, Tesla Rae is an average earth pony mare she is a design engineer who likes steampunk coslpay and music(Plays bass guitar in her spare time for fun). she has a family of her own but we'll get to that soon 

her cutie mark is two cogs for her engineering skills and she has a tattoo on her left front hoof to show her love for all genres of music and two black hoop earrings in her left ear because she likes to thinks shes a little punky.also these are my own drawings so any criticisms for those are also welcome

Yeah but I'm a design engineer and I use computer add design and work closely with architects to build bridges and buildings

Haha I make robot limbs and wings for disabled ponies and cosplay in my spare time and it's not to bad can get busy at times but I love it

The thing is, it's going to be a totally solid character, because she seems 100% auto-biographical, so you know your strengths, weaknesses, and how you'd react in any given situation. so i think when you start writing you have to be careful to make sure the sidekick has just as much character as Tesla.

 

other than that i'd say its all good really love the steampunk drawing

You're welcome, if you really want to know the character you're writing about i find it useful to imagine them in X scenario, just imagine something youve seen on tv, or in a game, or just something you've totally made up, and imagine how they would react in that scenario it really helps to flesh them out
