Street Comedy 327 April 23, 2012 Share April 23, 2012 (edited) So in S2E26 we are introduced to Changelings right? What are they? Where did they come from? What are their true origins? The Changelings are the "zombies" from The Story of the Blanks. I know... it may seem silly, but it is a good theory, the Changelings disguised themselves as the ponies in Sunnytown. "But when they're "zombies" they don't look like Changelings!" This is the good part, the Changelings feed off of love to gain more power. The changelings you see are "larvae" that have not had enough nourishment to look and feel complete, hence why they can't talk. "What about the eyes?" Simple, Story of the Blanks takes place at night. Their eyes are red to let you know their bodies are in the right climate. (Yes, they are cold-blooded.) And to see in the dark. The Everfree Forest has a climate that is suitable for them to live in, while Canterlot is a bit colder, being in the mountains and all. The blue eyes mean they're bodies are not in the right location, therefore meaning they are in a bad climate. The Changeling Queen has green eyes, to signify her magic powers, which let her survive longer in less hospitable climates. This explains why she is in Canterlot longer than the normal Changelings, who come in at the last minute to break down the shield. Well, this is my theory, do you agree with it or not? Discuss in the thread below. Edited April 23, 2012 by MagicalHorseyThing
Page.Turner 940 April 23, 2012 Share April 23, 2012 (edited) Ummmmmmmmm... I'm just going to say I don't agree with that theory simply because the whole point of the Story of the Blanks "zombie" ponies was the curse known as the cutie mark. No one has a cutie mark and they kill those who are tainted with them like some kind of freaky religious/satanic group. Kind of an H.P Lovecraft feel to it. On the other hand, the changelings are like bugs. They even buzzed like bees when they flew and had they had holes in their legs; not skeletal at all. And they were very parasitic. Also, in the episode, the Queen even said they've been all over and Equestria is the only land with the most love. Equestria. Their country. Which means they've been all over the world~ EDIT: Also, because every creature in the show has been based on some mythical creature in our real legends, Changelings are some kind of Irish faerie Edited April 23, 2012 by SkySong 1 ... You're right about the curse thing though, the text was too confusing at that part I didn't really get it.
Dreadmallon 353 April 23, 2012 Share April 23, 2012 I could care less about those bug-like scum. Although when I first heard "changeling," it reminded me of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, because I haven't heard the term "changeling," except these two pieces of footage. Slendermane 477 April 23, 2012 Share April 23, 2012 I don't think so. I'm pretty sure the residents of Sunnytown are all cursed ghosts forced to relive the same day over and over again. The day when they murdered Ruby for finding her cutie mark. They don't act very bug-like to me. 1 Battle not with monsters, lest ye become a monster, and if you gaze into the abyss, the abyss gazes also into you. If I may go off topic for just one post, I think the term "changeling" is rather common compared to some things. For instance I think the term "equines" is less common than changelings. (However, I am American and think equine may be from another language, so this may not be the best example for everypony.)
Evilshy 5,090 April 23, 2012 Share April 23, 2012 I wasn't familiar with Story of the Blanks before, but from what you guys are saying about it, it definitely seems like something I want to read. H.P. Lovecraft -esque? Yes please Signature now 99% less edgy!

Equine is either an adjective to describe horse-like features or a noun accounting for horses themselves. The origin of the word itself is from the Latin equinus or something. It's basically the same as calling a dog a canine. It's the "scientific" term of the species. ...
