Solid 1,327 November 30, 2015 Share November 30, 2015 The great firewall of China could be a factor, but I seem to have a great deal of trouble with keeping myself well-informed about the brony fandom, or keeping in touch with some of the more famous bronies. I am going to be brutally honest, I only knew about some of the more well known bronies like The Living Tombstone, Mandopony, and Acousticbrony via the 2012 documentary. I only heard briefly about someone called ilovekimpossiblealot in a conversation online and have yet to know who he/she is wellknown for. I was talking to someone during Bronycon 2015, who was most likely someone pretty famous too because some of my friends nearby are going on a fan-hype, leaving me puzzled and confused. So on so forth. I would like to know whether there are people here who are experiencing this issue as well. As for people who have no trouble with this, mind to share some tips on how to keep in touch without spending way too much time at the computer? Thanks. :3
NavelColt 22,883 November 30, 2015 Share November 30, 2015 Question: When did you join the fandom? Separate statement: Don't try. This fandom is so active and so massive, that you are never going to be able to totally be in the know of everything that's going on, even all the 'big' things going on. The best thing to do is to set up stake in one to three brony themed sites, and keep in the know with those. Vicariously through them you will be in the know with things relevant to those sites, thus you won't feel like you're being left behind. Follow up to the initial question: For your first year in the fandom or so, you are going to feel overwhelmed no matter what. Until you've watched all the episodes, been around the fandom long enough to know all the memes and jokes going on, and just absorb the atmosphere for long enough, you're going to have this feeling of being behind no matter what you do. Everyone goes through that.

Solid 1,327 December 1, 2015 Author Share December 1, 2015 Question: When did you join the fandom? I started watching the show some time around early 2011. As for the fandom I did not know there is one until around 2012. Well, try equestriadaily.com. there is where I keep myself informed most of the time, and of course, the forum I use it too but only when VPN is functioning properly since it's blocked in China ._. Daring_Do 552 December 1, 2015 Share December 1, 2015 (edited) Y'know, I used to feel real sorry for all the folks over in China, what with their lack of freedom. Then I found out they've got it easy compared to Korea. I'm guessing you're not Chinese yourself, though? Or are you? Humphrey 49 December 1, 2015 Share December 1, 2015 I think MLP fandom in China is quite strong. Bronies are everywhere on the internet. In some forums with nothing related to MLP, over 80 percent of the active users are bronies. Therefore, I don't think GFW is capable of blocking MLP related info. There is actually quite a fandom here in China, and I do not think GFW intentionally blocked EQD, more likely by accident due to collateral filter. Equestria daily is blocked?! That's most...unpleasant...
