Foray deadpanned. "Yeah, no, I'm not gonna be able to make it that far, unless one of you wants to drag me. Do you know if there are any good places between these 'ruins' and where we are now? Or are we just gonna have to book it really fast?" She wasn't exactly looking forward to travelling very far, especially considering the lack of sleep she'd received.

"there's that dark cave, I was talking about, last time I checked it was empty, except for some skeletal remains, come to think of it. I think that was the first time I changed my appearance."

Travelture smiled and said as he was lost in the memory,

"I jumped and ran into a wall when I saw my reflection, thinking it was a ghost, I looked exactly like the mayor."

"I didn't take you for the skiddish type," the mare replied with a tired smile. "At any rate, that cave sounds just fine. Even if there are any 'skeletal remains', I don't think anypony here will have objections. Better than staying outside at night." Nodding towards the rest of the group, she called, "Summer, Feeder, Agaricus, Confusion, we're heading out! Let's go before that thing changes its mind on eating us!"

Feeder walked up and said,

"don't worry, the worm isn't going anywhere for quite a while. The dose I gave it is enough to knock a mature alicorn for a few hours."

 

Travelture said as he started walking, 

"We'll probably get there by noon. Nighttime, if we're careful."

Confusion seperated from the group for a while, and walked back towards the mummy. With her knife, she tore up the cloth wrapped around the mummy. Suprisingly, the dead mare with the chared and preserved body was an alicorn. She pushed aside the dead mare's wing. There was a note.

 

"In memory of Our long fallen leader, glorious Swiftflier, destroyed by Celestia's Interparticle Energy Group."

 

Interparticle Energy Group. The name brought back a flood of memories to Confusion. She remembered the research, and her own wrongdoing. "Finally, it all makes sense." She must have been brainwashed to forget her own doings, and to prevent knowledge of events from leaking out.

She wrote a note on a sheet of paper.

 

"It was me.

My true name is Dr. Luce Alchemica.

I am responsible for destroying your village. The weight of this crime rests on my heart. I cannot live anymore.

I used to be a researcher at Interparticle Energy Group. However, Celestia ordered us to unleash our potential in destroying a village, which held ponies that were against her regime. The blood of the Alicorn Swiftflier, and other rebels against Celestia, are on my hooves. Celestia brainwashed me so that her own wrongdoings, and knowledge of ponies that were against her, wouldn't leak out.

I am very sorry.

I have only one more request. Please let everypony know the truth."

 

Luce then tied a rope around her neck. Letter in her teeth, she climbed a nearby lampost, and tied the top of the rope to it. She then jumped.

 

Dust blew across the horizon. The sun was setting with a deep blood red glow, which illuminated her bloodstained fur.

Summer was about to head of with the rest when she noticed Confusion's heartbeat, it was pounding like a battle drum. Summer looked on from some distance watching what she was doing, wondering as she was fiddling with a note or something she could not make out at the distance she was standing away from her until...

 

WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! as she climbed the lamp post, without thinking she flew towards at her the fastest she had ever flown it her whole life, just as Confusion's body took up the slack of the rope Summer flew underneath her trying desperately to hold her weight, she screamed at the others "HELP ME!!"

 

it was no good though Confusion's weight was too much for Summer's wings and she died before her very eyes, she stopped trying to hold up the body and cut the rope with her teeth, she then knelt with her stroking her now lifeless body and mane.

Agaricus was walking along side the other ponies. When he suddenly heard shouting coming from behind. Turning around he saw the Vampire stroking what appeared to be Confusion. "What happen!" He shouted, standing next to Summer. Looking down at what appeared to be the lifeless body of Confusion.

"I...I don't know Agaricus she just hung herself I could not stop it." Summer started to cry tears flowing down her face, she did not understand why she would just kill herself like that. Summer just kept stroking as before why would you do this Confusion why?!

Travelture saw Agaricus and Summer over the body, he sighed, walked up and said, hiding the tears and fear in his eyes 

"If we want to reach the cave, we must be moving now. Just leave the body, the wasteland will take care  of it.

 

Feeder heard screaming but didn't turn around, he knew what happened, but he knew he wouldn't be able to handle death

 

the letter lifted out of confusions mouth and floated of into the wind, never to be read again.

Foray's face was frozen in shock. She had seen some pretty messed up shit in her time, but never a pony hang herself. She thought she had become desensitized, yet this was unlike anything she'd ever seen. After a few moments the muscles in her faces started responding again. She closed her eyes and turned away, saying solemnly, "Travelture's right, there's nothing we can do for her now. We'd better get a move on if we don't want to share her fate."

"Do you think it's safe to leave her out in the open?" Agaricus said turning around to face, Foray and Traveltrue. "We've been attacked by a creature already. Who knows what else might be out here!" Agaricus looked away from Foray and Traveltrue, then looked at Confusions body. "This body might attract more creatures to us, if we leave it out in the open." Agracius looked up and saw the the note floating away, to the skies above.

"Which is all the more reason to get going," Foray retorted, though there was still a hint of grief in her stern voice. "Like Travelture said, the wasteland will take care of her. If we don't get moving now, we'll be out in the open when night comes. Not to mention the fact that we've wasted enough time already. If you guys aren't gonna go, then at least point me in the general direction so that I can."

Travelture walked away leaving them around the body. 

"He mumbled to himself, 

"I warned them about learning a lot about me, but then again, it was suicide. I don't know to call that bad luck or not. maybe she found something."

Snorting in satisfaction that they were actually going somewhere, Foray heeled about and started following Travelture. She had taken but a few steps before her body decided to remind her that she hadn't slept recently; her legs felt like they were about to buckle under her weight, causing her to shift from side to side to compensate.

 

Despite her obviously awkward and imbalanced walk, she caught up to the pony ahead of her and sidled up next to him, giving him a small nod as they were finally on their way.

Summer was reluctant to leave the body but the others were correct and little could be done here and now for her, so after a few more moments she got up and cantered to catch up with the others. "I...I could of saved her even after she died but I could not do it, no nopony should live like me." Summer simple tagged along walking to the back of the group.

After a few minutes, Travelture said as he passed a giant skeleton,

"Rest here for a few minutes, I'm going to check ahead. To see if I can see the cave and if there are any dangers."

Feeder said as he sat down and leaned against the ribs, "You okay, Summer, watching a creature die is a sad thing, that I try to avoid, but it happens whether we want it or not

Foray's heart warmed at the thought of rest. At the pace they were going at, she wouldn't be able to keep going much longer. As soon as she had reached the skeleton, and less gracefully than she had hoped for, she collapsed heavily onto the ground, the saddlebags finally weighing the exhausted unicorn down. For a moment she simply lay sprawled out on the ground before removing her bags and awkwardly maneuvering into a sitting position, resting her head on her front hooves and closing her eyes.

Agaricus sat down beneath the giant skeleton. Removing his saddlebag, he began to rummage through it. After several seconds of rustling through the contents in his bag. Agaricus finally found what he was searching for. Using both of his front hoofs. Agaricus lifted up a large apple size white mushroom. He had picked the mushroom, while he was out exploring the previous day. Agaricus was absolutely starving, his growing stomach echoed across the wasteland. His mouth was wide open, in aw of the feast that was before him. Biting down hard on the top of the white cap of the shroom, a loud crunching sound could be heard.

Cyan was walking around ruined house, trying to scavenge some parts and maybe find some food because his stomach was making weird noises. Unfortunately fridge was looted ages ago, so he get to the second floor and then he heard somebody shouting. He quickly get his sniper rifle and aim to the source of the voice.

 

He watched through the scope at the scene, one mare was hanged, and the other one was... Hugging her? No no no, she was trying to save her... But who knows, wastleland is weird place. He wasn't sure what to do, go and offer help, or shoot... He decided to wait. After few short minutes other ponies joined her, now there were no way he will pull the trigger. He curiously watched at ponies leaving body behind, when they were gone Cyan decided to take a closer look at the body.

 

"Yup, she's dead" He said when he saw hanged pony, no sight's that somepony helped her tho, there were nothing interesting in the room, and ponies there didin't look like raiders, he consider following them, but on the other hoof, they might be dangerus... "Egh... Why not..." Cyan shrug his shoulders and start following hoofprints.

Feeder jumped when he heard the crunch, he turned to the noise and sighed. then continued leaning against the rib.

Travelture looked in the horizon and saw the one thing he didn't miss, a sandstorm that might be lethal. He yelled as he made skin grow on the bones,

"Everyone got into the skeleton, hurry before the skin completely envelopes it"

a  3 ft scorpion came out of the sand, with sand pouring out of its joints,  sniffed the body, then went underground and started following the pony

Letting out an annoyed snort as she was yet again disturbed, Foray's eyes slowly opened as she heard Travelture's warning voice. Getting up groggily, she slowly ambled towards the skeleton, the weight of her saddlebags hindering her significantly. "W-what's... the matter?" she asked, not having noticed the approaching storm.

Travelture came in, out of breath and anxious. He grabbed the wood out of his bag as he caught his breath, and said as he started the fire,

"A sandstorm is coming, I'm guessing that the creatures here have a way to avoid it. I know what these sandstorms are capable of and it's going to be awhile."

Finishing his over sized mushroom, Agracius began to speek to Traveltrue. "If their is a sand storm approaching perhaps we should go inside the cave." Agaricus then pointed to the entrance of the cave with his hoof. After finishing his sentence, Agracius chomped down on the last piece of his mushroom.

Finally, after long way he saw a giant skeleton "Wait, this thing really dead?" He asked himself when he spotted giant sandstorm. Wind already blow off the tracks and there wrent mutch places to hide from sandstorm.

 

Sand was trying to get to his eyes, but he covered his face with hoof, when he get into the skeleton he feel heat and smell the burning wood "Oh Damn..." He whispers and take his sniper rifle. Holding rifle with magic, he slowly walk to the campfire, and spoke when he saw ponies from ruins "Hello?"

"No, the sandstorms are quick, in a matter of minutes it'll be here. Plus the skin should hold. It died of natural cause, not by sandstorms."

Travelture turned around with his horn glowing and said as he surrounded the new pony with green fire

"Hi, who are ya?"
