visual art Flowey Undertale 3D

So I finally tried Undertale, and really liked it. I think I'll get more out of Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3, but Undertale was certainly a unique experience. One of my favorite characters (Spoilers) was Flowey, the demented flower. I guess I got the neutral ending, and will probably go full genocide the 2nd time. My biggest regret is not realizing that you can spare bosses until after the 1st one  :(

I made it by myself in Blender Cycles. It's a free 3D animation program that anyone can download. I used the sprites as a base, but took a couple of liberties. I'd say you REALLY should play Undertale if you're into slightly-quirky humor and looking for a unique experience. Playing it just once led to some of the most memorable things I've seen in a game in quite a while. Just try to go in as blind as possible, as most of the fun is seeing it unfold for the first time...  B)

I'll Download Blender Cycles and give it a shot:3 I've heard some amazing things about it! So I'll have to Give it a go:3 I've heard barely anything about the plot or gameplay, so I'll be going in blind :P

That's great, I'd recommend searching for some tutorials for Blender Cycles, as it's not the easiest to get the hang of at first. When you get Undertale, don't look up ANYTHING about it until you've finished a full campaign. There's certain things that are WAY better in it if you don't see them coming...

  • 1 month later...

I like this. I like it a lot.

What I do like is the following:

  • Colors are good
  • Shading and lighting is excellent
  • Flowey's face shift in the second image feels like the tilt is just right. Not too low, but not too high either.
  • It really captures Flowey's feel.

However, this isn't perfect. Everything has errors and mistakes, no matter how small. And here are this artwork's flaws:

  • In the first picture, I would think that Flowey's smile would be, not wider, but longer, like it would go farther up his face. Not too much farther, but farther all the same.
  • I would think the friendliness pellets would be more oval-shaped.
  • I would think that in a 3D image, the friendliness would not be quite horizontal, nor vertical, but somewhere in-between with them being in a circle at an angle. I dunno what angle, but a angle none-the-less.

Please keep my opinion with a grain of salt. Overall, it is a great piece of artwork.

Thanks a lot for the critique! I always love getting feedback, so I can make better stuff in the future :D
