Applejack shrugged. "Well, ah'll be. A talkin car."

"Eeyup," Big Mac drawled slowly, as he headed back to the farm.

Applejack shrugged, giving the car one last glance before turning her attention back towards the apple orchards.

The Rainbow Dash look-a-like vehicle remains outside of Sweet Apple Acres throughout the entire night of Equestria, awaiting the next day. The next morning, the vehicle is still outside, doing nothing of the sort, as if it never left, aside pending for Rainbow Dash to race against her.

Rainbow Dash happily swam across the sky popping through clouds and cheerfully greeting the pegasi she passed by. Today was a great day-and that creepy look-alike car was out of sight. She hastened a glance downwards, just out of curiosity, and did a double take. I spoke too soon, she thought glumly, staring at the familiar blue car revving up on the ground below her. Okay, fine. What does it want? She dived towards the ground, landing on the roof of the car. "What will it take for you to go away?" she yelled, banging on the roof with a hoof.

The monitor from the inside of the vehicle reads:

 

"CHALLENGE: RACE?"

"VEHICLE NAME: RAINBOW LFA"

 

To her surprise, the vehicle's name is indeed Rainbow LFA, with her first name and the second one from the car itself. Despite being banged along onto the roof by Rainbow Dash, it does not react in any way.

Rainbow Dash glanced inside the interior of the car. To her surprise, there was lettering. Reading it quickly, she scowled and turned her head to look at the car itself.

 

"You're kidding, right? Some creepy self-driven machine wants to race ME?"

She blinked, wondering how the hay these developments came about.

"You're on!"

The Rainbow LFA's monitor then reads:

 

"REGULATIONS?"

 

As the vehicle was pending its decision from Rainbow Dash, one of the Ponyville citizens, who decided to visit around Sweet Apple Acres, overheard Rainbow Dash's comments about accepting its challenge to a race. The colt pony rushes back to Ponyville and gives out an announcement to everypony. "Hey everypony! Word out in Sweet Apple Acres that Rainbow Dash is competing against the racing machine that has her appearance!" The citizens, once again, began to spread rumors as they follow the pony back to Sweet Apple Acres, where Rainbow Dash and Rainbow LFA is, and the murmurs grew louder with excitement, unaware of Applejack's presence, as they watch Rainbow Dash, determined to race against the machine.

"Aw, horsefeathers," grumbled Applejack, watching in dismay as the crowd grew larger. "Ya can't be serious. Just as ah thought ah'd be gettin' some peace and quiet." She watched helplessly as the noisy, rowdy crowd approached the farm trampling all the crops on the way, before shaking her head and trotting into the Apple residence, slamming the door behind her.

 

Rainbow Dash glanced behind her. "Gee, look how many fans there are. All here to watch my awesome running skills!" She puffed her chest out proudly and strutted as she walked along the dirt road. "Hope AJ isn't too upset about my large fancrowd!"

"How would the race be regulated as? Land vs. air?" asked one of the ponies. "No way! That machine won't be able to keep up with her, she's too fast when it comes to flying airborne!" said one of the concerned ponies. The crowds then comment at each other all at once, not knowing how will the race be fair and challenging for both Rainbow Dash and Rainbow LFA as they try and figure things out.

Rainbow Dash caught a glimpse of Applejack retreating back inside her house. "Hey, AJ. Wait up!" she called, ignoring the crowd of admirers below her as she decided to barrel through AJ's window.

"Aw, shucks, Dash," grumbled Applejack, catching sight of her and burying her own face under a pillow. "Can't ya give me some peace and quiet? Ah know just how noisy those races are."

"Races? You've been in one?" asked Rainbow Dash surprised.

"'Gainst one o' those there giant cars, yep. Real pain in the flank."

Rainbow Dash smiled. "If you can do it without wings, I can too!" She turned her attention outside, where the crowd was still gathering.

"So what do you suggest about it, Rainbow Dash?" asked one of the Ponyville citizens to Rainbow Dash, as Rainbow LFA is still awaiting for her decision on how the race will be regulated. The crowd's noises have been lowered to whispers as they spread rumors on how the race would start off with.

Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes. "If Applejack can beat one of these things without wings, I can too," she boasted. "Just tie my wings like you did in the race between AJ and me, and I'll leave this car in the dust," she announced to the crowd.

The Ponyville citizens agree with the idea as everyone, including Rainbow Dash and Rainbow LFA, leaves Sweet Apple Acres to return to Ponyville and organize the race in Equestria.

Rainbow Dash shrugged. "What do I do to prepare?"

"What do I need to do? What should I wear?"

"Choices, choices!" she cried in despair.

 

"Don't worry pardner. Ya'll be fine," Applejack sighed.

"Just don't oversleep. Make sure you're on time."

 

"But how do I do that?" wondered Dash, a frown on her face.

 

"Just buy an alarm clock, so you don't embarrass the whole pegasi race."

The next day, there is now a huge crowd in Ponyville, gossiping at each other, with Rainbow LFA standing in front of a starting line, waiting for Rainbow Dash's arrival for the race. It's text reads:

 

"WAITING..."

"WAITING..."

"WAITING..."

Rainbow Dash trotted up to the starting line, Applejack bring up the rear behind her.

"HI, everypony!" she anounced, waving at the crowd. "Sorry I'm late!"

The crowd instantly cheers for Rainbow Dash, and chants her name many times before the Mayor arrives at the stands. "Fillies and Gentlecolts! Welcome to the second annual Race Around Equestria! Under the no wings rule, we have the greatest flyer in all of Cloudsdale, Rainbow Dash!" Everypony cheers for her as she striked a pose in front of the crowd. "And her opponent, who is near identical to her appearance and her cutie mark, the--" she paused momentarily as she reads carefully on the paper "pony of the future" she speaks out loud once again "the lightning fast machine, Rainbow LFA!" The crowd cheers, as the vehicle revs its engine a couple of times before the referee pony steps up, wielding his starting flag, as the crowd goes silent for a moment.

 

In a similarity behavior, Rainbow Dash snorts from her nose, whereas Rainbow LFA's exhaust pipes releases short bursts of flames; her hoof scratching along the dirt, as Rainbow LFA's rear wheels spins along the dirt a couple of times; Rainbow Dash growls with determination, as Rainbow LFA's engine, revs loudly a couple of times. "On your marks, get set, GO!" said The Mayor as the referee pony waves the starting flag and both the pegasus pony and the racing vehicle race off from the start as the crowd cheers loudly. "You can do it Rainbow Dash!" said one of the pony spectators. "Show that machine what you can do!" said an excited unicorn pony, as they watch the two race throughout Equestria.

Rainbow Dash laughed. "Rainbow LFA? What's that even supposed to stand f-oh, shoot," she grumbled as the mayor yelled out the word that started the race. Instantly she was off, running at full speed across the racetrack, keeping pace with the blue machine...thing...beside her. "Well, this isn't too hard," she thought happily, easily keeping pace with the wheeled behemoth beside her. "if Applejack can do it, so can I!"

As Rainbow Dash maintains her pace with Rainbow LFA, its speed increases significantly, despite driving along the dirt road, as it upshifts to go faster. However, as the two approach onto a hill, Rainbow LFA suddenly begins lose speed as it tried to speed towards the hill before slowly sliding back down, with its rear wheels struggling to maintain its speed to keep up with Rainbow Dash, to no avail.

Rainbow Dash lost her confident smirk as she saw the vehicle speed up, and increased her lazy stride to a quicker pace to keep up with it. Maybe it's not such a pushover after all. Well, that's good. I like a challenge. Still confident, she ran to keep pace with the car, and glanced up ahead of her as a hill loomed near. The first of many, I hate this hilly terrain. So annoying to run on. Hopefully the car's just as tired as I am. Where'd it go, anyway? she thought to herself, as she reached the crest of the hill and looked down behind her. The car, to her delight, was struggling slowly up the rocky terrain.

 

"Are you serious?" laughed Dash. "This is too easy!"

The Rainbow LFA speeds in reverse, stopping several meters away from the hilly terrain. It revs its engine twice before it rockets towards the hill, its engine roaring, as it climbs onto the hill with significant speed in an effort to keep up with Rainbow Dash over the hilly terrain, eventually doing so.

Rainbow Dash laughed a little. "Sucker!" she yelled cheerfully at the machine, before taking off. Up ahead of her loomed yet another hill. It was big enough to obstruct her vision of what lay beyond. Sighing resignedly and gritting her teeth, she began racing up the hill, panting a little from the arduous effort.

Out of nowhere, the Rainbow LFA, after successfully racing over the first hill from its failed attempt, zooms past by her with incredible speed as it races up the hill with ease, thus single-handedly overtaking her, as it reaches at the top of the hill and launches itself high in the sky.

"Oh, come on!" grumbled Rainbow Dash, watching the vehicle soar into the air. Sighing, she gritted her teeth as she willed herself to accelerate. This isn't going to be as easy as I thought, she grumbled to herself.

As soon as Rainbow LFA went airborne, it flies back onto the dirt, landing hard on all four wheels as its speed dramatically increases on the downhill slope, but immediately skids to a stop in a forest area and encounters several roots from the trees in the forest that acts like speed bumps. The vehicle's low ride height becomes a disadvantage blow for the Rainbow LFA as it is unable to climb over the roots, let alone drive over them. Now the vehicle stands there defenselessly while trying to scan its way around the forest, as Rainbow Dash catches up with it.

Rainbow Dash passed the vehicle once again, jumping over the tree roots where she encountered them. "Maneuverability over speed," she muttered to herself, glancing at the vehiche out of the corner of her eye. "But I have both," she added, ducking beneath the branches and thick tree trunks that crowded the path, until she finally broke free and emerged on the other side, still in a paced sprint.
