Best first episode to watch with your parents.

so I recently told my parents that I liked mlp. feel like showing them a episode one thats not heavy on the singing. any suggestions?

I waaaaaaaaaas gonna suggest Pinkie Pride but then you said not heavy on singing. That episode is almost nothing but singing. XD 

 

How about 'Make Friends but Keep Discord'? That could be really good for this as it has no singing and any episode with Discord is sure to catch parents a bit off guard and go against their potential expectations.

Later episodes seem to have more references, are less frilly, and more complex plot i.e. Twily not writing to Celestia about what she learned giving the moral of episode to viewer but later you have to think to find out what it is.

Season 5 finale WOULD be a good episode since it seems less childish and "cutesy" in nature, but it would require a little background on the characters and their motives.

 

I say show them any episode that the fandom would agree is a good one, because these are the best episodes, and whether or not the epsisode is less childish won't matter to an outsider, since its just ponies anyways.
