"I'll be back in a tick," said Mist with a smile as he headed down stairs. He soon found the kitchen and, luckily, everything he needed to make hot cocoa. Mist even found a cup that said worlds cutest pony. Mist smiled and made the cocoa for him and Glass. When he was done he headed up stairs. "Here you go," he said handing Glass the mug that said world's cutest pony.

"Uhh...." Glass went a bright red as once again her head filled with red wine. "I honestly don't know what to say to that Mist. " Glass took a sip from the cup she couldn't taste it as she lacked the organs but if she could she would have liked it. "not bad Mist. " she said in approval

Shadow walked to the back and yanked with scythe out of the floor and checked the damage to the truck. He said as he looked at the damage,

"Ok, the brake pad are melted, the tire treads are burnt, and I think the shock absorbers are broken. Oh, well."

He walked into the house and looked around, then he went to the kitchen, dragging scythe on the floor carving a line into it.

"Thanks," Mist said as he took a sip of his cocoa. Mist sat in silence as he tried to think of something to say. He didn't want to lead Glass on so he decided to make small talk. "So got a special somepony?" Mist asked casually. Mist suddenly realised what question he had asked and panicked, "not because I want to be your special somepony or anything I'm just curious. That's not to say I think your unattractive. Err Ummm Ahhj." Mist blushed and took another dip of his cocoa.

"Thanks," Mist said as he took a sip of his cocoa. Mist sat in silence as he tried to think of something to say. He didn't want to lead Glass on so he decided to make small talk. "umm... no... I don't have one... never have..." Glass said too busy watching the sun setting in the distance to be bothered by Mist's question. Glass noticed something heading towards the rest of the convoy most of which had turned around and gone back to town to spend the night there but some had stayed. suddenly a red light enveloped the failed truck and a loud male scream could be heard and then silence...

Shadow looked around to see where the scream came from, but couldn't. He stomped his hoof in frustration, then walked into the kitchen. He opened the fridge and grabbed an apple, and head to see where he will be sleeping. When he got there, he placed his scythe against the wall and laid down on the bed.

Mist frowned when he saw the red flash and heard the scream. He knew exactly what it was and he had a feeling that Glass did too. "I think we should have at least one pony keeping watch tonight," he said to Glass, "there's no telling if that thing will attack. I'll take the first shift."

Glass was about to say how stupid the idea was but instead she just nodded and lay down in the bed pretending to read a book that had been left on the bedside table underneath the lamp. when she got bored of pretending she did take a look over the book it was entitled "the strengths and weakness of magical creatures." she looked through the book for a hint on the creature they were hunting so that Mist wouldn't die.

Mist smiled and walked out of the room, leaving Glass to read quietly. As Mist walked past the rooms he hoped that this monster would be easier to kill then the monster that had almost ended Sparkle's life.

He past Shadow's room and peeked inside. When he saw that Shadow was there he gave a friendly wave, "hello." he said.

Shadow lifted himself and curled his claws so he didn't puncture the blankets. When He saw who it was he leaned on one claw and said as he raised one claw in the air as a greeting, 

"Hey. I don't think I caught your name. Name's Shadow Beast, but ya can call me Shadow."

"Well it's nice to meet you Shadow," Mist said with a friendly smile, "and I'm sorry I didn't introduce myself earlier. I was a bit distracted by other things." Mist sighed as he thought about Glass's beautiful mane. "Anyway the name's Mist Twister. Long time adventurer fresh out of retirement."

Shadow said as he got up and walked on his hind legs,

"It's a pleasure to meet ya, Mist Twister. As ya can see I'm new to this."

He grabbed his scythe and carried it to the bed, then started sharpening the right side. When he was done, he started on the left side. Once he was done, he reached into a different portal and said, 

"What will ya be using to hunt with?"

"Wait here a moment," said Mist as he ran out of the room. He went into his room and grabbed his sword. He ran back into Shadow's room and showed it to him, "I'll be hunting with this," he said proudly, "it's the Twister family sword. It's been past down for generations ever since it was forged by my great great great great grandfather, Typhoon Twister, during the great Luna war.

Shadow pulled out a red and black sword and said as he started sharpening the sword, 

"Hm, interesting. I don't think a collected a family sword, well a dead one."

When he finished he placed the sword down next to his scythe and said as he held out a claw,

"may I see it?"

Mist stood and looked at this sword as he thought it over in his mind. This sword was extremly valuable and he'd be disgraced if he lost it. But Shadow seemed nice enough. "Okay," said Mist as he carefully passed shadow the sword, "just be sure to give it straigt back."

Shadow grabbed the hilt and said,

"Don't worry, I know how much some stuff are, to your family, this is priceless."

He gently guided his claw against the edge of the blade, careful not to damage it. He flipped it over and looked at the hilt. He said, as he handed it back,

"Here ya go."

Glass nodded "yeah. just researching this creature so we know what we're up against out here. it's along way back to town and I'd prefer to be in one piece for the trip back. instead of sixty million... anyway..." Glass went back to reading through the book in search of clues.

the sound of shattering glass echoed around the lower floor but it was not in fact Glass that shattered but it was a window in the lower floor's kitchen. a pungent smell dispersed across the house it smelt like rotting corpse and unwashed fur then to make matters worse the fuse box blew.
